WHAT is it with the later model WJs having engine issues??? 4.7L V8... mine has 154k on it and is as smooth as butter and runs flawlessly... quick, responsive and on the freeway reasonably economical... Thought the 4.7L V8 was a superb engine... what did Chrysler do to it after '99???? We tried to sell our '99 WJ after I got the '94 K1500 Blazer with the 6.5L Diesel... no one even came out and looked... there's a number of them for sale dirt cheap... We decided to keep it... Which brings me to my question... Any idea on how hard it would be to mate a Mercedes Diesel to the 45RFE transmission? :) there's a couple of WJs on CL with bad engines for cheap... or, maybe I would use a nice 4.0L. In my '99 WJ with the 4.0 it had the 42RE, not a good setup... gas mileage was as bad as the V8, actually worse on the freeway... turns out the 42RE is the trans they used in the ZJ that everyone had trouble with. So, I'm trying to decide if I'm going to drop an engine my '83 J10 stepside, or get a WJ and make it a Diesel... or sell off my projects and Blazer and get a nice WJ and use the proceeds to pay for the extra fuel costs. ;) Anyone in Europe have a line on the Diesels they used in the WJ over there? What auto transmission was used in the CRD WJs? keep the popcorn poppin'... shop is almost ready for the next project... installing a hitch on my J10 trailer for the barrel lift this weekend. ;) john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold SAVE fuel: use synthetics: http://www.AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 SAVE power: use LINUX: http://johnmeister.com/tmcp.pdf http://wagoneers.com http://gunbanobama.com/ http://freegift.com - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 25 Oct 2008 23:05:46 -0700 (PDT) From: john Subject: [db] '67 J100 Panel my son decided to buy his '74 javelin back... that means he has three cars here now... and we've decided that the '67 J100 Panel will be the one leaving... will take detailed pictures and put it up on ebay... trying to figure what it's worth... http://wagoneers.com/FSJ/rigs/67_j100_panel/67-J100/ALL.html http://wagoneers.com/FSJ/rigs/67_j100_panel/Panel_8-Jan-08/ http://wagoneers.com/FSJ/rigs/67_j100_panel/Panel-literature/ALL.html I might consider trading it for a Mercedes Diesel or 4BT installed in my '83 J10 stepside... :) john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold SAVE fuel: use synthetics: http://www.AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 SAVE power: use LINUX: http://johnmeister.com/tmcp.pdf http://wagoneers.com http://gunbanobama.com/ http://freegift.com - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ End of diesel-benz-digest V1 #2889 **********************************
