My boots are cracked and the driver side lower control are inner bushing is shot. That one being shot was what prompted me to replace the suspension parts in the first place. Rubber does not seem to be the right stuff for this application. Some sort of plastic would be tougher. In particular I bought a $6 Pitman arm puller for the Crown Vic. Both arms broke on first use. I headed over to Autozone and paid $14 for their (Taiwanese) tool, which although it was shaped exactly like the HF PRC one, it was finished somewhat better and worked like a charm. I can even return the tool for a full refund. Although the PRC tool was advertised as "forged", the broken surface looked like a casting. When they said "forged" perhaps they meant it was a forgery!
