Heh :) Actually, the real reason for having both is that the rolling hills with gnarly grades around here really punish the diesels - the powerbands are fairly narrow on the trucks, and it's even more noticeable with the cummins being a clutch. Around town and in the rolling hills, the gassers shine, often leaving the diesels in the dust. Out on the open road, however, the diesel is king. Doing some quick math, which john likes to do, the 460 was good for 12 mpg, and the cummins good for 16. The 440 used to get that as well. Right now, gas is going for right around $2.00 per gallon, and diesel goes for $2.80. Pricewise, it's about a push, so you grab the keys for what will best do the job.
