Oh yeah, did I mention that this engine was available in Scouts from 1976/77 to 1980, with the final year being the turbo version? I've known a few owners over the years who swear they get better than 20 MPG freeway with them but complain about them being slow. After all, a Scout of that vintage had a GVWR of 6,200 lbs but already weighed in at 5,200 lbs unladen. It's a lot of weight for that engine to move. The Jeep guys have been stealing Scout Dana 44 front axles for years. Mainly, beefier lower end and oil pump with oil jets that cooled the pistons by spraying oil on the bottom of them. That's Houston. We have entirely different cultures and climates in Austin and Dallas. Fort Worth is also an interesting option: close enough to Dallas' amenities, but not as afflicted by big city living. Austin is the political liberal of Texas' cities, and the self-proclaimed Live Music Capital of the World (http://www.ci.austin.tx.us/music/musicresolu.htm). There's plenty of space down here, so it's also easy enough to live outside the bigger cities but with convenient access when desired. Biggest drawback of Texas is probably allergies. If you don't have them yet, you'll have them eventually. Big offenders are cedar and ragweed, but we have plenty of others.
