To make things even worse, we got a bunch and I wasn't very good about keeping the driveway cleaned off (it's short and fairly flat) and then it thawed some and the pack on the driveway turned into a frozen pond! Now, a week later, it's snowed several more times and I (deliberately) didn't clean it off and now there's getting to be enough pack that there's some traction over the ice. But really......! If I ever meet old man winter, I think he's going to get a .32 caliber slug in him somewhere..............he's nasty up here! But as it is, the best I can do is keep propane in the tank and gas in the snowblower.....(poor man's plow 8^) Coming to you from still another LiveCD Linux distro (Fedora 10 gnome) while I've got this friend's computer here and missing the hard drive. It was dropped, I surmise (from the results of my extensive analysis of it) and hence there's a hard drive being mailed it's way right now. High-precision moving discs don't like having things slammed into them...... J - -- Jim Hoffman wrote: Ummm, you'd need a plow if your snow was going to stick around any longer than till next week!! Understand about trying to adapt the trans/engine... perennial issue in swaps. Usually I try to mate an engine/trans and then get an adapter for the xfr case. But, trying to keep these projects as low budget and painless as possible. :) Keeping the 727 mated to the SD-33 makes sense, if I can get the gearing/tire combo to work well. I think the SD-33T I've found will make it all work, but need to get over the pass to get the engine. I need to pull the box/bed off the CJ-10A to see if the ballast is still in place and see how it performs without the weight, and also change out the fuel, it's old looking... :) I'd very much like for the ultimate Diesel Daily Driver to get good fuel economy in town, 20mpg... and be able to cruise at 60mph... and haul at least one 55 gal barrel/drum of WVO. With several inches of snow on the ground and temps in the "teens" I won't be doing any wrenching today... the rains return next week and wrenching will resume... rare blizzard warning for the cascades too... we're supposed to get clobbered again tonight... Went out and started my '94 K1500 Blazer with the 6.5L TD... it didn't start as quickly as usual, but started... haven't tried my '91 300D, it's sitting under about a foot of snow... with a bad starter solenoid in the '86 cj-10a, not even going to try... it's a slow start in good weather. :) Going to see if the blazer will make it out of the driveway... gave my son's friend a real challenge with his lifted XJ... my WJ had no trouble... but we'll see how the 3 tons of GM will do... I'm not expecting escape velocity. :) snow pictures: (I like the pictures of the K1500 nose to nose with the CJ-10A... didn't realize how tall the CJ-10A is... :) http://wagoneers.com/fotos/2008/12-Dec-19-Snow/ALL.html http://wagoneers.com/fotos/2008/12-Dec-18-Snow/ALL.html daily driver selection matrix - in work: http://wagoneers.com/FSJ/options-2008.html john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://johnmeister.com/fotomeister - Trust Jesus: http://freegift.com SAVE power, avoid viruses, use LINUX: http://johnmeister.com/tmcp.pdf SAVE fuel, use synthetics: http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ On Sat, 20 Dec 2008, Scott MacMoyle wrote: # John, # You may already know about this site # http://www.binderbulletin.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=5 # if not, you should.
