Of course, we haven't had any snow here in the Bay Area, but there's been plenty of rain & wind. I've been playing with electronics. Got me a high-zoot $5 PIC CPU, etched up a board for it, writing firmware for it. Keeps me amused. Found free circuit board design software on the net, a free IDE for the chip, complete with C compiler. Bought an ICE for it for $35 :). The heavy rain and melting snow are working together to give us a FLOOD ADVISORY right now across most of western Washington. The biggest problems will be with small streams and clogged drains. Also watch out for ponding on the roads. The rain will taper off to showers in the afternoon. We will be a bit breezy at times with highs in the mid 40s to around 50 degrees. Tonight we drop back to the upper 30s and keep the showers going. Sunday also looks like a mild mostly cloudy day with showers at times. We finally get back to a more normal pattern for the week ahead. - ---------------------------- So, roofs are starting to collapse all over... lumber yards, carports, schools... we're not setup for snow loads around here... My rebuilt carport appears to be doing well... the 24' long trusses are holding up well, the extension in the back is doing ok... Now we just need to wait for 2 feet of snow to melt and flood any low lying spots... which is most roads, yards, etc. ;) I see some wind kicking up out there too.. that's not going to help those carports out there... john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://johnmeister.com/fotomeister - Trust Jesus: http://freegift.com SAVE power, avoid viruses, use LINUX: http://johnmeister.com/tmcp.pdf SAVE fuel, use synthetics: http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ On Sat, 27 Dec 2008, Edward Pomeroy wrote: # Hey Jim, # # I feel your pain, SW Michigan is now under flood watch and I have water # seeping into the crawl space, has nowhere to go as the ground is pretty # much frozen tundra. News alert - SW Michigan just broke the high temp record for this date, was 60F and we just officially hit 61 and may go higher. Solid rain and now they advise gusts of wind up to 40 MPH as the next front moves through. Pretty much all the snow pack has melted off and the deer are out in force. Between my back yard and the neighbor across the ravine (about 100 yards) we have counted 8 so far in the last hour. Food is plentiful and they are making the most of it, though they already ate the hostas and the tiger lily stems that remained . Terriers are going nuts but can't chase beyond our electronic perimeter that stops shy of the ravine. Have been tempted to extend the wire to encompass my half of the ravine just to see what happens but wife not warm on the idea. Love to send this your way John but prevailing winds don't work that way. john wrote: > it's starting to rain, lightly, here... > still dealing with 2 feet of snow on the drive, parked > the WJ up top... but walking up the hill will be treacherous... > slush is quite slippery, it's warmed up a bit, so we can > hope it'll melt quickly... > > -------------------------------- > WEATHER REPORT: Puget Sound Weather Outlook > Updated Saturday 5:30 a.m. > > Heavy rain at times this morning with very mild temperatures compared > to the last couple weeks.
