I set out for Fresno on Friday, but it was too turbulent and I went back home. I figured it was only going to get worse during the day. In fact, later that day, an airliner had a balked landing at San Jose because of low level wind shear. - Jerry ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 11 Jan 2009 06:39:23 -0800 (PST) From: "Jerry Kaidor" Subject: [db] Engine Storage Hello, I've got this engine block that's been sitting in my garage for over 20 years. Taking up prime garage floor space. I can't throw it away because it's the original engine for my TR2. So I finally did something about it. I took the engine apart completely to lighten it. I sprayed the crank with WD40, stuck it in a bag, and wrapped it completely in duct tape. Sanitized! I sprayed the block with WD-40 and wrapped it in umpteen layers of that clingy plastic that they use to wrap stuff on pallets. Then taped a sheet of cardboard to one surface. Laid it on the cardboard and shoved it under a workbench. Mummified engine :). - Jerry Kaidor ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 11 Jan 2009 15:00:50 -0300 From: "Renaud (Ron) OLGIATI" Subject: [db] W123 leaking steering pump The steering pump on my 1978 W123 is leaking badly: does this mean replacing it, or just changing a seal ? Off Topic... but we've discussed this a few years back... I've been using Turbo Tax for years and years... but this year they've really cranked up the fees... I have the "deluxe" version which I hope will do a Schedule C and long form... got it at costco for $42 bucks!!! I saw a product called Tax Act at fred meyer or some place like that, just looked on line... it's very affordable and may not have all the irritating features of Turbo Tax... HAS ANYONE tried Tax Act? Can I do a 1040 with Schedule C with it? thanx, john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://johnmeister.com/fotomeister - Trust Jesus: http://freegift.com SAVE power, avoid viruses, use LINUX: http://johnmeister.com/tmcp.pdf SAVE fuel, use synthetics: http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 12 Jan 2009 10:00:53 -0600 From: "Potter, Tom E" Subject: RE: [db] W123 leaking steering pump You might try some Lucas stop leak in it. I have used it in the past with good results. Of course if the seal is totally gone, it will not help much. If you are really anal about having everything tip top, go ahead and change the seal.:) Tom Potter - -----Original Message----- From: owner-diesel-benz-at-digest.net [mailto:owner-diesel-benz-at-digest.net] On Behalf Of Renaud (Ron) OLGIATI Sent: Sunday, January 11, 2009 12:01 PM To: diesel-benz-at-digest.net Subject: [db] W123 leaking steering pump The steering pump on my 1978 W123 is leaking badly: does this mean replacing it, or just changing a seal ?
