I think Stephen from Ireland has sent a link before, but it would be nice to build a generic checklist... a checklist would be nice for any of us to follow... not that we'd want to submit to such bureaucracy, but just knowing what to look for to keep our rigs in top condition would be nice. I know they have mechanical inspections on the east coast... most are basically a lights and wipers check to sell parts at gas stations... the German TUV is pretty extensive, we had something like it on base that our cars had to pass... they'd take a screwdriver and poke around underneath... rust was a big issue... don't remember if they pulled the wheels and brakes off or just did a brake test in the drive... I'm pretty sure they measured drums/rotors and linings on the TUV version... john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://johnmeister.com/fotomeister - Trust Jesus: http://freegift.com SAVE power, avoid viruses, use LINUX: http://johnmeister.com/tmcp.pdf SAVE fuel, use synthetics: http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ On Thu, 29 Jan 2009, Michel Balea wrote: # # # guineas.... was another one.... old school .... 21 shillings..... or a pound and a shilling.... of course in the mid 70's they went metric.... # # The MOT is the technical inspection, was a British specialty until the other euros countries or lobbyist for the car manufacturers realized that they could get the 5 year old cars off the road. There's a bleed hole in the lift pump, which I can't remember where it is on the indirect fords, and don't have one in the yard to go check. If it was a direct one, it would be in the V towards the transmission side of the engine. I'd probably blame the lift pump before the injector pump, or a hard line with a crack in it, but I'll defer to Jim who has one of the indirects currently in the fleet (needing an injector pump). I think Greg had one of these too, can't remember if he still had his (though I thought his was a 6.9).
