I walked back, and picked up some kerosene. Filled the fuel filter with kero, drove as far as that would take me, filled again, made it home. I realized the fuel couldn't be completely gelled, since the fuel filter was empty. What I found was that the hoses on the primary filter were old and cracked. Fuel viscosity was high enough to cause the pump to pull air through the cracks. I replaced the hoses and added a gallon of kerosene to the tank, and all was well.
