Doesn't take much to get down from TWO vehicles to NO vehicles. Ask me how I know.... I had to take down my Chevy Astro - ordered a set of new fuel injectors from "gmpartsdirect.com" - which is really really cheap, but really REALLY slow. Basically it's a GM dealership in the deep south somewhere that orders the stuff from GM after you order it from them ( and pay for it ). So it takes your parts a week to get there, and another week to get here... But you can't beat their prices. At least I couldn't. My Astro has been suffering from sticky fuel injectors for a couple years now. I've been cleaning them into submission with one of those cannisters that you hook to your compressor, but it never lasts. Car needs to be smogged this month, time to put up or shut up. So now we're down to a mere four vehicles, of which only one is totally, 100% reliable. My wife's 2005 SSR. So I have a choice of the Jaguar ( low oil pressure and funky electrics ), the MGA ( one tire goes flat every month, and I hardly fit in it ), and the TR2 ( which actually runs pretty well, but its looks hardly inspire confidence :). Living on the edge indeed. - Jerry Kaidor ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 7 Feb 2009 17:28:57 -0800 (PST) From: john Subject: Re: [db] Living on the Edge yeah... kind of scarey... just called my ins company, seems they won't insure my '86 cj-10a... :( ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 http://freegift.com http://johnmeister.com http://wagoneers.com http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ On Sat, 7 Feb 2009, Jerome Kaidor wrote: # diesel john wrote: # > # > down to two vehicles until my J10 is reassembled... living on the edge. ;) # > # *** Woo, that's minimal. I've got the 3.3L Diesel from the CJ-10 that will literally drop right in... I think I'll have to move the engine mount towers forward a couple of inches, minor issue... trans mount and driveshafts should hook right up... the guy is asking a grand, but I might be able to get it for less... The consensus among those that seem to know... it'll be exremely slow with the 3.3. I really don't want to do a full up 6.2 conversion again... no 3.9's around, not sure I'd go that way either... the 360 V8 is a thirsty pig of a boat anchor... 8 to 12 mpg if I'm lucky... the swap would be easy, but somewhat pointless... it wouldn't move about very well... I also looked at a few XJs... but there isn't as much room to work and they're all pretty rough... if I could find a nice late model or limited (want leather seats) for less than $1500 I might try the swap in one... anyway, my son is talking about selling his Javelin, will put it up on CL this afternoon... if he does, then I'll skip the GW and we'll put a driveshaft and hubs on the panel... he'll be down to two vehicles and life will be better. :) I'll just wait for my J10. The WJ is doing fine, but could use a heater core and some axle seals. My 300D is doing fine but could use some TLC as well, need to lube the speedo cable and find that little annoying oil leak and change the oil. Out cleaning up around the shop right now... :) ...anyone need wood for their fireplace? filling up the trailer with left over carport material... john -o|||||o- 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee (WJ) 15 mpg 4.7L V8/45RFE/NV247 1991 Mercedes 300D (124) 29 mpg 2.5L Turbo Diesel/AT (Shadowfax) in work: 1983 Jeep J10 Stepside (SJ) 14 mpg 4.2/T-5/NP208 (Superdawg) 1975 Jeep J10 long bed (SJ) hydraulic dump trailer 1986 CJ-10A 3.3L Diesel/AT - for sale - $4500 1967 Jeep J100 (SJ)Panel 232/T-85/D20 - for sale ??? - $2900 1974 Javelin Ford 460/c6 - for sale - $800 also have an extra C6 & Ford NP205 attached to C6. -o|||||o- http://wagoneers.com/johns-vehicles.html ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 http://freegift.com http://johnmeister.com http://wagoneers.com http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 8 Feb 2009 19:55:03 -0800 (PST) From: john Subject: [db] now the javelin is gone... mark just sold his '74 javelin... that means he's getting a driveshaft and hubs for the '67 J100 panel, and it's no longer for sale... have a guy interested in the cj-10a, doesn't want the front clip or drivetrain, just the cab... talking about bringing a YJ tub... if he brings an axle and frame we might be able to build two jeeps out of the parts... :) so, we can actually move wheelbarrows around in the driveway... only 6 vehicles here... only 1 more to return... and 1 to go... :) john -o|||||o- 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee (WJ) 15 mpg 4.7L V8/45RFE/NV247 1991 Mercedes 300D (124) 29 mpg 2.5L Turbo Diesel/AT (Shadowfax) 1975 Jeep J10 long bed (SJ) hydraulic dump trailer in work: 1983 Jeep J10 Stepside (SJ) 14 mpg 4.2/T-5/NP208 (Superdawg) 1986 CJ-10A 3.3L Diesel/AT - for sale - $4500 -o|||||o- http://wagoneers.com/johns-vehicles.html 1967 Jeep J100 (SJ)Panel 232/T-85/D20 (Mark's) 1985 Mercedes 300D (123) 3.0L TD (Mark's) ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 http://freegift.com http://johnmeister.com http://wagoneers.com http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------ End of diesel-benz-digest V1 #2997 **********************************
