Performance Products Offer two different models for that year, and claim they cannot tell me which one I need, as they do not have data for gray cars (Grey ? mine is green) Does anyone here know how to choose the correct model ? Intriguinly, places like The Parts Bin offer only one model, coverong all 300Ds from 1977 to 1985. ????????? Except that the MB dealership does not have the part in store, and cannot tell me when they may store it again; hence my attempt to order one in the US of A, have it sent to my mailbox in Miami, and have it in a fortnight. But it seems that Performance Products are less than helpful; their attitude vis-`-vis a car imported directly from Europe could be understood from the official MB US organization, but not from an independant retailer. Again, going from memory, the US dealers do not carry or order parts for grey market (non-US) models. But a US dealer would order the part especially for you from your VIN number so that the lock cylinder would match the rest of the locks on the car. I wonder if a non-US dealer would do the same for you. Or if there is a European member of the list that would do you the favor of ordering the part for you. One of the problems in this country is that to order an ignition lock for a VIN, you need to show that you actually own the car in question.
