Subject: RE: [db] Contemplating an 87 300D W124 Thanks, Alec. I did use 80 ft-lbs as I also recall that was the number for my alloy wheels. On to other things... I replaced the belt tensioner with shock last weekend and it wasn't a very difficult job for a 1st-timer. I followed John's advise to trace carefully how everything was removed. My old belt was almost gone, though it was only a few months old. The bad tensioner was causing the belt to wildly flap up and down, despite the correct tightness. With this, all of the vibration (specially with AC on) was gone. Now I have the engine surging/hesitating on 1st and sprecially 2nd gear. I checked the main fuel filter which is 3 months old and it had a lot of particles on it. Me thinks that my in-tank filter is clogged and tank needs to be pulled-down and cleaned. To me, the issue seems to be caused by fuel starvation. Waddya guys think? Apart from the main fuel filter, should the in-tank filter be replaced? Or is it something that's simply cleaned? Just change the 2 filters and you should be in good shape. I agree with your assessment, but the issue is likely the primary filter resisting its efforts to lift fuel, not the tank screen. Unless it's been sitting for a long, long time, I'd just change the primary, then if necessary the secondary fuel filter. The primary is usually just a screen anyway. Just blowing it out could clear it out enough to work properly again. J - ---------- Original Message ---------- From: "Carballo, Rico A."
