I need three. Uses a #58 bulb. My fuel guage isn't consistent either... it fell out when I pulled the cluster... looks like it's been apart before. :) driver's seat next... just need to drill some holes for the wj power base, switch the wiring on the base, install a few of the wj computers to make the seat heater work and bolt it in... ...spring sprang about a week ago and laid me flat out with the alder pollen. :) we drove up to mt. vernon/burlington this afternoon, some of the daffodoils were up... actually had snow down to about 600 feet last night, but was in the 50's this afternoon... http://fotomeister.us/fotos/2009/03-Mar-29-Spring/ just starting to get my energy back, was really hoping to have the seat done tonight... oh well, will drive the benz tomorrow and finish up the tug tomorrow after dinner. john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 http://creationwiki.org http://johnmeister.com http://wagoneers.com http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 30 Mar 2009 14:42:03 +0800 From: "Carballo, Rico A." Subject: [db] Inj Pump Tuning Hi, Not at all an expert on diesels so here goes... When does one know that his inj pump needs calibration? Or when does one know if it only needs re-timing or tuning and not re-calibration? Is there a "tune-up" frequency to doing these? I find my 87 300D to be smokier than usual. Mechanic says the "IP timing needs to be retarded" to lean-out the mixture a bit. Thanks for any guidance. However, there is a setting on the IP that can be adjusted to reduce the fuel a bit and stop the smoking... I don't know exactly where the little screw is, but it's on the pump, if you turn it in it should reduce the amount of fuel and reduce the smoking... also check your oil, and change it, and check /change your air filter... I wouldn't mess with timing on any Diesel unless it won't start or run.... I think you might consider starting the search to find another mechanic... ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 http://creationwiki.org http://johnmeister.com http://wagoneers.com http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ On Mon, 30 Mar 2009, Carballo, Rico A. wrote: # Hi, # # Not at all an expert on diesels so here goes... # # When does one know that his inj pump needs calibration? Smokier than usual, eh? Quit racing it! Haha. It's probably because someone turned the IP up to get more power out of that non-turbo engine, which would explain why it'll still seat-of-the-pants you even w/o a turbo. Why would you turn it down? Just keep your foot out of it. Normal power and normal smoke from normal driving, extra power and extra smoke when you really need to get out of Dodge fast. It'll be fine.
