(also checked with maaco and it was nearly $2k, they wanted to do it correctly, silly people... like quality is important or something... so I talked to earl. ;) the earl special offers me any color in the bronze selection, narrowed it down to champagne or shadow beige... http://wagoneers.com/FSJ/rigs/1986-CJ10A/2009_May_08_adventures-with-color-chips/ALL.html I'm not expecting superb quality, just one color. ;) And if I rattle can it, I expect blisters on my fingers... (have done this before. ;) This weekend will be swapping the NP198 for the NP208. Tuesday will get a shift kit and amsoil atf installed at a local trans shop. Trying to decide if I'm going to continue with the tug project and keep it as my daily driver/WVO hauler after my J10 is reassembled or plan longer term to move to my '83 J10 stepside. The tug is smaller and a bit more fun, but not as refined. I'm thinking that if I keep my J10 stock with the 4.2/T-5 and just use it instead of my trailer that I could keep both the cj-10a and the J10. Might work... If I put a Cummins 6AT in the J10 it would probably get the same mileage as the tug and offer a bit more cab room and might actually be able to tow... If I were to put the Cummins 6AT in the tug that might make it a bit more spirited... lots of options... decisions made by breakage, objections from the spouse and of course budget... always an adventure... changing project directions isn't just an option, it's a way of life... :) what's the thought on the colors? the champagne will match my '99 WJ and my '91 300D nicely... the shadow beige has some yellow and will probably not fly with my live-in color expert. ;) If she vetos both colors it'll be the rattle can for sure... will go with a biscuit or white oh, my friend curtis shared some links showing a $50 paint job... pretty nice, but a lot of work... demonstrated on a corvair: http://rickwrench.com/ http://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=2331682&page=0&fpart=5&vc=1 http://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=2331682&page=0&fpart=1&vc=1 http://www.autoblog.com/2007/07/03/need-a-paint-job-50-will-do-it/ john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 http://creationwiki.org http://johnmeister.com http://wagoneers.com http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 9 May 2009 23:20:46 -0700 (PDT) From: diesel john Subject: [db] Saturday adventures painted the '86 cj-10a today... rattle can paint job in the driveway... hey, it's a solid ten footer... maybe 8! for $24.08! that's the closest distance you can get before you start seeing just how terrible it really is... :) but it's better than what it was... actual cost was $31.35 if you count the $7.27 roll of painter's tape... oh yeah, plus tax, but I'll stick with the $24.08 price, and that beats the $50 roll on version that required ten coats and sanding, I only applied one coat! and didn't sand... and a lot less expensive than the $450 earl s. would have charged, or the $2k a real shop wanted... also changed the oil to amsoil 15w40 marine grade synthetic took 9.5 quarts! http://wagoneers.com/FSJ/rigs/1986-CJ10A/2009_May_09_PAINTED_n_AMSOIL_15w40/ALL.html some general garden and snohomish fotos: http://wagoneers.com/fotos/2009/05-May-09-garden-snohomish/ what's amazing is that Diesel is actually TWO CENTS cheaper than unleaded!!! :) hope you all have a nice weekend... don't forget tomorrow's mother's day... john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 http://creationwiki.org http://johnmeister.com http://wagoneers.com http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------ End of diesel-benz-digest V1 #3060 **********************************
