Thought I would jump in, have always hankered for one of those Benz wagons but my old and very trusted mechanic friend, who spent most of his life on european iron has always said to stay away from them. Rust issues on the shock towers, suspension system that uses gas charged cylinders and rubber chambers, which all fail and are extraordinarily expensive to replace, the usual benz vacuum and electrical gremlins. All in all he was most admant on not going that route when I was shopping for a used 124. Still have the hankering to get a wagon but may have to go with a Volvo if I can find a clean 740 with good body, they seem to be rare as hens teeth, owners don't part with them often (or until they are swiss steel).
