I think that's it... I might switch over the spin on oil-filter assembly... or not, the cannister probably holds more oil, right? Hey, have a three day weekend coming up... :) jeep/Diesel fest in snohomish anyone? it's been awhile since we've had a gathering at the monster carport... john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 http://creationwiki.org http://johnmeister.com http://wagoneers.com http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 26 Jun 2009 16:51:04 -0700 (PDT) From: diesel john Subject: [db] project feedback... the guy that looked at the cj-10a today drove up in a nice stock YJ, so I had to ask him how the tug compared in ride quality to it... he said: "It rode very solid and quite well compared to the YJ. Very comfortable on the whole." So, before I make a WVO run tonight I'm pulling the add-a-leafs and adding a taller set of blocks... if I can find a pair of rancho shocks in my shop, will swap out the front shocks... :) gotta get this thing dialed in... :) (pretty funny when a potential sale motivates you to keep going on a project... ;) after a few days of looking at other options, I'm thinking I'll be money ahead if I just improve the cj-10a instead of trying to build or buy another Diesel. Nothing out there seems to do what I want... So, I am giving serious thought to swapping the SD33T in to the tug, 20% power and economy increase would be a good thing... that would put me well into the 20 mpg range and decrease my 0 to 60 where I'd actually be able to compete with a 240D... maybe... :) Who's got a 240D in the area? I doubt anyone would notice if we decided to have a drag race... ;) As far as my '83 J10 stepside... after 8 years I guess I'll deal with it when it shows up... plenty of options... :) optimistic... there will always be a part of me that will want to put a Mercedes Diesel in a Jeep Cherokee XJ... I need to avoid craigslist because at some point in time those two worlds will collide and I'll just make a bunch of work for myself. :) the current fleet is working pretty well: john's daily driver: '86 cj-10a - 18 mpg on bioDiesel wife's runabout: '91 300D - 26-28 mpg on bioDiesel interstate cruiser and trailer hauler: '99 WJ - 13 - 19 mpg trailer - '75 J10 hydraulic dump... with working surge brakes! john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 http://creationwiki.org http://johnmeister.com http://wagoneers.com http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 26 Jun 2009 16:51:55 -0700 From: Bruce Caruthers Subject: Re: [db] project feedback... Hitting them hard a few times breaks through the corrosion on the surface of the contacts, then they work. I think it is purely a choice of materials by Benz, poor choice.
