Synchronized granny low is just the ticket for my driveway... :) We both agreed that the T-5 was just too light weight and since it didn't have a granny low that the manual T-19 is the best option... and eliminates the worries of finding that flexplate and torque converter right now. If I need higher gearing for the freeway, will get larger tires... I can always make the switch the the 727 later if my back gets worse or I change my mind (where's that popcorn?) ... I drove the J10 with a manual for a couple years without back trouble, and I really feel that the little Diesel will benefit from the four speed manual. I like the idea of being able to downshift on our hills and control my speed... besides, it's going to sound very cool going through the gears with turbo whine... :) and yes, the CJ-10A does not need to be dismantled, have everything I need to put the J10 in running order with the SD33T! Loading up the trailer tonight, will run down to Centralia on Thursday. This should expedite the J10 reassembly, one less issue for curtis... Going to take pictures of the cj-10a mounts tonight along with all the pieces and put them on the web so curtis can see. Will bring the trailer back with some of the leftover parts... let's see, I think I still have the AW4 with custom adapter and the NP219 down there... Mark needs a replacement for the NP229 in his '85 GW... if you don't have an NP228 or NP229 for sale I guess he can buy my NP219... I don't want to rework driveshafts in Superdwag so I'll be using my NP208. Found out the hard way that the 208 is not the same size as the 219/228/229. :) john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 http://creationwiki.org http://johnmeister.com http://wagoneers.com http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ On Mon, 29 Jun 2009, david-at-lang.hm wrote: # On Mon, 29 Jun 2009, diesel john wrote: # > trying to decide which Jeep I should put my SD33T into (first)... # > the '86 cj-10a? # > or # > the '83 J10 stepside? ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 29 Jun 2009 20:17:13 -0700 (PDT) From: john Subject: RE: [db] the question yeah, that would be nice... would be happy if I could mate it up to my AW4... while I like having an automatic, the granny low four speed sounds really good when dealing with 108 hp Diesel on steep hills... :) john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 http://creationwiki.org http://johnmeister.com http://wagoneers.com http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ On Mon, 29 Jun 2009, Alec Cordova wrote: # I think I know what those SD33 variants need: A good 5 or 6 speed automatic. # Perfect match for a low revving engine. Wrapped a tow strap around the pallet after strapping the engine down to the pallet with blocks under the mounts... didn't work quite as well as we'd have liked, but the front chain hook on the engine bends and bends the fuel line... :( the T19/Dana 300 is sitting next to the SD33T... also bringing down an extra starter and manifolds and clutch setup... just in case... actually moved the trailer around with the cj-10a... :) word from centralia is he had the 4.2 already pulled, but it wasn't in the j10. ;) so I guess the trailer will be coming back loaded with a 4.2/T5, AW4, NP219 and anything else that needs to return north so curtis can get his shop back... and possibly an NP228 or NP229 that mark will be buying to fix his '85 GW. now I need to go in and do some lower back exercises so I don't wake up with leg spasms... Like Red Green says, my mind keeps writing checks my body can't cash... ;) curtis, we'll probably be down there after 12 and hopefully before 4pm on Thursday, I can back the trailer into the shop so you can lift the engine out, or park it in your drive, let me know so I can get positioned on approach... :) john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 http://creationwiki.org http://johnmeister.com http://wagoneers.com http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 30 Jun 2009 21:57:56 -0700 (PDT) From: john Subject: [db] RE: Military G-Wagen http://wagoneers.com/DieselBenz/CARS/G-wagen-Canadian-military/ALL.html thanx, john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 http://creationwiki.org http://johnmeister.com http://wagoneers.com http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ On Tue, 30 Jun 2009, Darren K.
