The 2000 ML we had never had any problems, other than that the window switches wear out early and have to be replaced as a unit. Oh, and some computer bugs (we went through three computers). But those were all fixed under warranty and only once caused us an actual problem (CD player never spun down in specific combination of circumstances, draining the battery, and requiring a jump). No idea about the sedans. I expect the Diesel 210's would have fewer problems with engine controls compared to my '99 E320, and my most serious chonics are failures of the crank sensor, air mass sensor, and O2 sensors. But there are plenty of problems that would be common... things like being rust prone. Foggy headlights (due to cheap plastic lenses). Electrical failures in various body components. Dead radio. Failure of automatic fan controls. I've replaced a differential. The car doesn't even have 85K miles at this point.
