If not he would have to pay taxes in both New Zealand and the US. If he renounced his citizenship, he wouldn't be eligible for Social Security. Might as well get something for all the money you and your employer paid in. When I got out of the Navy in 1989 I looked at moving to Australia and inquired at the Consulate in San Francisco. Was told, 'What you don't think we have any intelligent people there already' or something to that affect and was quickly hung up on. If I went down there it would be in education or IT...
