You can use regular fuel hose in most cases. Exceptions: the "cigar shaped" return hose on the OM617 engines. The thick section of this hose, believe it or not, is there to smooth idle by imparting calibrated resistance to fuel pressure pulsation. The other exceptions are the injector return hoses. Actually, if you can find reinforced injector hose at your parts store, it will be ok, but you'd still need the end piece with the steel stopper. I say stick with the original 185/60 size. Wider ones may be a bit of a stretch on the original rim width, and with the low weight of the vehicle, I would think wider tires (all else being equal) would provide worse traction in water or snow. For my last several tire purchases on a few different vehicles, I've been very happy with Kumho, especially for the price. Tire Rack shows http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Kumho&tireModel=Ecsta+LX+Pl atinum at $59 each for 185/60-14. That size used to be big territory for the likes of Michelin and Pirelli, but it looks like they each now offer only one all-season and one winter model that fits. OK, the new computer is in. There are good FI pulses. Car still doesn't start. Not even a burble. Nada. Zilch, Nothing. Starter motor cranking like a sonofabitch. I suspect grossly incorrect spark timing. Just for yuks, I disconnected the wire from the coil to the distributor, and also the wire from cylinder #1, and connected the two with a patchcord. That gets LOTS of sparks to cylinder 1.... Crank-crank-crank - BURBLE! Really trying to start, the best it could with one cylinder. Sigh. Apparently this new ECU is seriously confused. This reminds me of a Jaguar I worked on once, a '67 3.8S. This shop had sent out the engine for rebuild. Got it back, put it in the car, it wouldn't start. They tried to start it, on & off, for two weeks. I wanted a job, the boss said "start the car, get the job". I worked on it for 12 solid hours before - in desperation - I swapped two opposing wires on the distributor. BURBLE! Turns out that Jaguar numbers their cylinders from the back to the front, unlike the rest of the civilized world. I don't think that particular confusion is possible, because the distributor runs at CAM speed, not crank speed. And the rotor is pretty much hard-geared to point at the appropriate cylinder, the one on the compression stroke.
