First thing you do when an Astro goes wonky is remove the cat and insert a bypass. This is legal in MI, sounds like you are SOL in CA. I'm sitting here with two WJs, an XJ, a GW, a rabbit pickup and a 300D... and all I really need is the J10 that isn't here. :( The SD33T will work great... the '86 cj-10a proved out that drivetrain... solid... have had a lot of contacts on the '89 xj... a guy test drove it last night... I don't think it'll take long for it to find a new home... will miss it... too bad it isn't a Diesel... but then again it wouldn't haul wvo... and even with a Mercedes Diesel in an XJ it still would probably get only 20 mpg. other than not being a Diesel the XJ model is probably the best all around Jeep ever built... and slightly better even than the WJ... the xj has better visibility, a great size, easy to work on... the WJ has a pedestrian sized blind spot and just doesn't have the same nimble feeling of an XJ... but they are very easy to work on, everything is modular... simple usually... I guess all this means just one thing... JEEPS are built, not bought... ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 si vis pacem, para bellum http://johnmeister.com http://wagoneers.com http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ On Sun, 31 Jan 2010, ernest breakfield wrote: # (not that this has anything to do with J**ps of any kind, but...) # got your renderer's license yet? i don't remember the details # everywhere else but one is required here, along with a ridiculous amount # of liability insurance... and it's a damn hefty fine! # # on a different point, i once worked with a guy who had a lowered # pick-up truck, and can attest to the fact that loading things into the # low bed of that truck was a delight. # # as for the Mexican restaurants grease; if it's anywhere as nasty # looking as the dark stuff in your pictures, stay away from it! # (typically, that's one of the worst kinds of restaurants to get oil # from, Japanese being the best.) # # # cheers! # e # Berkeley, CA # '85 300D (187K miles; 6 years/66K miles on BioD) # john wrote: # > actually...
