I've done a number of conversions and swaps and they don't always come out as nice as one would like... as I get older I get better at them, but still... they're never as perfect as I would like... I have high hopes for Superdawg because I'm using a proven drivetrain in an FSJ chassis... won't be fast, but will be reasonably economical and amazingly simple and reliable... thanx Stephen and Dianne for the temptations... I'm learning that I can enjoy these temptations as eye-candy... one can enjoy the beauty of the engineering without operating (or repairing) it. :) love the look of the old Jags, but after driving one extremely beautiful one, I'm content to look at the pictures and marvel at it's beautiful lines every time I see it... a masterpiece... http://fotomeister.us/MISC-cars/Chucks-Jag-1july06/ALL.html (yes that's me grinning... :) http://fotomeister.us/MISC-cars/ChucksJag/ ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 si vis pacem, para bellum http://johnmeister.com http://wagoneers.com http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ On Thu, 25 Feb 2010, Stephen Rigley wrote: http://bringatrailer.com/2010/02/21/bat-exclusive-1966-jaguar-e-type-project/ # # ;-) # ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 25 Feb 2010 13:39:29 -0800 (PST) From: john Subject: [db] RE: fsj: Re: tell me you aren't tempted.. I think Jeremy is going to put a carpet kit in it and put it up for adoption... I'm cc'ing jeremy, but will pass any requests for info on the '89 to him. Out of the 26 FSJs I've owned it was one of the nicest driving and nicest "feel" out of them. Hard to describe... but every FSJ, XJ and Mercedes Diesel seems to have it's own personality... you drive it just a short distance and you're hooked... it feels right, it responds properly, it turns smoothly, it just works... I'd say I've only experienced that with SJs about 4, maybe 5 times... SuperDawg, Old Blue, Old Blue II and one or two others that had issues beyond my enthusiasm had it. Omega didn't have it... it didn't feel right, it was ok, but not right. But a J10 works better for me than a GW... so someone else should get serious about this Grand Wagoneer... :) I had to check it out... but I'm staying the course with SuperDawg, my '83 J10 step side that is getting the SD33T setup.. soon I hope... anyway, here's the pictures of the '89 GW from yesterday: http://wagoneers.com/FSJ/rigs/1989-GrandWagoneer-Feb-2010/ALL.html from two years ago: http://wagoneers.com/FSJ/rigs/89-GW-Feb_2008/ALL.html from about two and a half years ago: http://wagoneers.com/FSJ/rigs/89-GW-Old-Blue-II/ALL.html and some spring fotos from today... that low tailgate on the Caddy is nice: http://fotomeister.us/2010/02-Feb-27-spring-in-the-garden/ALL.html john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 si vis pacem, para bellum http://johnmeister.com http://wagoneers.com http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------ End of diesel-benz-digest V1 #3252 **********************************
