If this CRD is like the Cummins there will be only one heating element on the air intake... Give the guys at Phil Smart in Lynnwood a call, they'll be able to verify what is really up, and also get you the best deal on it. :) john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 si vis pacem, para bellum http://johnmeister.com http://wagoneers.com http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ On Wed, 7 Apr 2010, chuck goolsbee wrote: # Asking here as there seems to be as much Jeep chatter as their is Benz talk on this list[a1][c4] # # My OBD-II scanner says the wife's Liberty needs new glow plugs. I'm going to CC the XJ list because there's a guy in Ireland with one of these 2.8L VM Diesels. What say ye mr. rigley? 4 glow plugs have ye? :) that is if the KJ used the 2.8L VM... or if it's the CRD... inquiring minds want to know... john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 si vis pacem, para bellum http://johnmeister.com http://wagoneers.com http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ On Wed, 7 Apr 2010, john wrote: # If this CRD is like the Cummins there will be only one heating element on the air intake... # # Give the guys at Phil Smart in Lynnwood a call, they'll be able to verify what is really up, # and also get you the best deal on it. :) # # john # # # # # ----- # ------------------------------------------------------------------------ # Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold # http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 si vis pacem, para bellum # http://johnmeister.com http://wagoneers.com http://fotomeister.us # ------------------------------------------------------------------------ # # # On Wed, 7 Apr 2010, chuck goolsbee wrote: # # # Asking here as there seems to be as much Jeep chatter as their is Benz talk on this list[a1][c4] # # # # My OBD-II scanner says the wife's Liberty needs new glow plugs. I used AMSOIL MP, it penetrates and lubricates well... far better than WD-40... haven't compared it to PB Blaster, it's in the same league and smells much better... I haven't used liquid wrench for years... :) used to come in the same cans as 3-in-1 oil... :) Also, I've had good success with brake fluid as a penetrant.... I think that it depends on the amount of rust involved what will work the best. WD-40 is vegetable oil and not intended as a penetrant, and doesn't work well as a lubricant as it tends to gum things up. One note on Acetone... it evaporates quickly... trying to mix it with ATF would be interesting.. also, somewhere along the way today I stumbled upon this: http://www.rmauctions.com/CarDetails.cfm?SaleCode=DS10&CarID=r096 ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 si vis pacem, para bellum http://johnmeister.com http://wagoneers.com http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ On Thu, 8 Apr 2010, El PROFESOR 4X4 wrote: For all of you that are mechanically inclined..... Note the "home brew" was better than any commercial product in this one particular test. A local machinist group mixed up a batch and all now use it with equally good results. Note also that "Liquid Wrench" is about as good as "Kroil" for about 20% of the price. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 9 Apr 2010 20:32:04 -0700 (PDT) From: john Subject: [db] #71 the best matchbox ever... :) http://wagoneers.com/FSJ/Tonkas/matchbox-gladiator/ ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 si vis pacem, para bellum http://johnmeister.com http://wagoneers.com http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------ End of diesel-benz-digest V1 #3266 **********************************
