Was thinking along the same lines. Have only bought 2 truly new (under 10 miles) cars in 35 years, all the rest have been 30K and up :-) Then again, this just popped up for auction locally, may bid 500 just to see if I get lucky. http://auction.bid-r-done.com/details.cfm;jsessionid=5e30d4295d6551184d2749261c6262147a21TR?ID=163164 Edward On 6/21/2010 6:54 PM, diesel john wrote: > if this thing comes with a Diesel I may do something I've > never done before... > > buy a new vehicle. > > john > ----- > ------------------------------------------------------------------------ > Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold > http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 si vis pacem, para bellum > http://johnmeister.com http://wagoneers.com http://fotomeister.us > ------------------------------------------------------------------------ > > > On Mon, 21 Jun 2010, Edward Pomeroy wrote: > > # http://www.autoblog.com/2010/06/21/report-jeep-eyeing-entry-level-pickup-market/?icid=main|main|dl4|link6|http%3A%2F%2Fwww.autoblog.com%2F2010%2F06%2F21%2Freport-jeep-eyeing-entry-level-pickup-market%2F ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 22 Jun 2010 06:16:56 -0400 From: "FParker" Subject: RE: [db] Re: John - look out and start saving...... It was precipitated by the untimely demise of the Jaguar, which was totalled when somebody almost sideswiped her on a freeway offramp, she hit the median avoiding etc. Now we have no car at home that seats more than 2 persons. I offered to bring her one of the airport Benz's but she doesn't want my castoffs :). Somehow, she has her heart set on a Honda Element. The rear seats flip up, exposing a large cargo bay. And the base versions have no carpet - or not much carpet - only rubber mats, which are easy to keep clean. She wants to sell her SSR and buy one of these things. The SSR is a great car, but seriously lacking in utility. Interior space is adequate for two people and two toothbrushes :). And it averages 13MPG. She is driving me nuts with her Element shopping.... Those things have amazingly high resale value. And you can't just "go buy a new one" - all the dealers are slime. Just look at their online reviews.... And the ones with good reviews have put them on themselves. - Jerry ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 22 Jun 2010 07:52:42 -0700 (PDT) From: john Subject: RE: [db] Re: John - look out and start saving...... and because so many if us would want one, they probably won't. :) or make it so expensive most of us couldn't, or won't. ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 si vis pacem, para bellum http://johnmeister.com http://wagoneers.com http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ On Tue, 22 Jun 2010, FParker wrote: # # # Now that looks promising! So, John, now do you like the styling of the new Grand Cherokee. Saw a very interesting commercial for the all new version last night. Still doesn't look quite right for a Jeep. The chassis and suspension are based on the Mercedes M Class, although I'm not sure which generation of M. Drivetrains are I believe all Jeep/Chrysler, with the new Pentastar V6 and the Hemi, possibly without using the word Hemi (negative perception about fuel economy). Couple of different 4WD systems, including options with true low range and adjustable ride height. First reviews I've read have been very positive, specifically mentioning substantial upgrades in interior design, materials, fit and finish. May be off line for a few hours or maybe even a day or two. May build a temporary server and switch over before pulling the plug. Will be moving it from the digital forest to clearview. The first thing I plan to do is eliminate images and large files. Once I get the server home I will resize or rehost all images. Have dropped the price on the domain on ebay. Need to find a home for a non-profit domain with very limited traffic. So if you go to look for the pictures of your rig and they're not on line don't panic, I have them on three different drives/systems. Also you can use the wayback machine for cached copies of all the pages. Life will be less complex. ;). Thinking about selling the 300d, the Wj and the trailer and getting a TDI. Looks like I won't be doing biodiesel any more either. Keeping my J10, haven't decided if I will get rid of the rabbit truck when superdawg is done, 40mpg is hard to beat and I am not parting with superdawg. :) Anyone in seattle looking for wvo? I have a few locations to share for a while. John Sent via BlackBerry by AT&T ------------------------------ End of diesel-benz-digest V1 #3297 **********************************
