Not sure how to fix it, but here's the theory. The AC compressor never turns off. Even if I press the EC (economy) button, or even the big O (turn off climate control) the compressor always runs (clutch engaged). So, since I started my drive early enough that it was cool outside, and had the fan on low (since it was very cold AC air), the evaporator must have turned into a big block of ice, thus blocking all of the air flow. Once the car sat for a couple of hours in Fresno (parked and off), the vents were blowing fine and cool when I fired it up. On the way home (Sacramento), it started cooling down outside after a couple of hours, and I turned the fan down...and about ten min later--no air flow. I pulled over, pulled one of the AC sensor wires, which turned off the compressor, and the air flow gradually returned, and continued to blow cold air for about 5 minutes as the ice melted, then eventually blew the same temp as outside air. # # So, now, how do I ensure the compressor will properly turn off when it's supposed to? ('93 W124)". I also snipped off the bottom of the thread. What concerns me also is that the EC and O switch don't ever turn off the AC Compressor. What's up with that? Shouldn't the EC send a signal to the AC system to disengage the Compressor clutch? If that were working, I could just switch it off for 5 minutes if it freezes up. Of course, I need to get the high pressure switch working if that is broken too...I would imagine that you can burn out the compressor if that is not shutting it off in extreme pressures. - -- Scott - -----Original Message----- From: owner-diesel-benz@digest.net [mailto:owner-diesel-benz@digest.net] On Behalf Of john Sent: Saturday, September 18, 2010 10:48 PM To: scotthaaland@yahoo.com Cc: owner-diesel-benz@digest.net; Bruce Caruthers; DB List Subject: Re: [db] The wheels are falling off...
