I'm just glad I found a way to turn off the compressor in case it ices up the evaporator again :) I'm in the bay area today, which would normally mean that I wouldn't even need the AC, but I was sure glad it was working today...must have been close to 90---almost felt like home (near Sacramento), but still a little cooler...it was close to 100 today at home. The other problem I'm currently having is the fan clutch...I ordered and replaced it, but it's still not engaging :( I'm guessing it's the temp sensor that I should have replaced instead...I went up in the Sierra's this weekend and it got very hot on the 7% grade, and I pulled over and sure enough the fan was just idling along...not moving at the speed of the engine. So, should I check the major ground straps (like the one from battery to body, from Tranny to body, etc...)? Or the smaller ground wires like the size of all the sensor wires? Is there one specifically for that dash light circuit somewhere? - -----Original Message----- From: owner-diesel-benz@digest.net [mailto:owner-diesel-benz@digest.net] On Behalf Of john Sent: Monday, September 27, 2010 10:12 PM To: Steve Morelen Cc: scotthaaland@yahoo.com; diesel-benz-digest@digest.net Subject: RE: [db] 87 300D climate control head yes, there is that, sorry, not funny for the owner... but you did describe it in a humorous manner... :) ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ when replying, please reply to: fotomeister@comcast.net john@wagoneers.com does not get checked often and is heavily spammed - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 si vis pacem, para bellum http://johnmeister.com http://wagoneers.com http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ On Mon, 27 Sep 2010, Steve Morelen wrote: # # Agree with John...funny (to the non-owner of said problem) and check grounds. You have such a weird [funny] collection of symptoms that it is reasonable to believe that something common to seemingly unrelated circuits is the culprit...ie, the major ground-bonding conductors. I would check the bat-chassis, engine-chassis connections and then the major gnd tie-points in the dashboard / console areas. A friend of my dad's had a car where you could turn on the rear seat reading lights and get the windshield wipers to engage..or something like that...... //steve > Subject: Re: [db] 87 300D climate control head > To: scotthaaland@yahoo.com; owner-diesel-benz@digest.net; john@wagoneers.com; smorelen@hotmail.com > CC: diesel-benz-digest@digest.net > From: dieseljohn@comcast.net > Date: Tue, 28 Sep 2010 06:03:12 +0000 > > Do you have a master power relay or whatever it's called like in the 124s? > > I'd also ck or replace all fuses.
