Where do you go for alignments? My cars haven't been aligned in ages (1996 or so for the '76, who knows when if ever for the '93). (Especially want to make sure the alignment is good with the new Blizzaks on the w124.) Although, no particularly noticeable pull on either car (now that the wheel broke off and got fixed). - -bkc Lynnwood, WA (his) '76 MB 240D [W115.117/616.916] (hers) '92 Toyota Celica GT (ours) '93 MB 300D 2.5 Turbo [W124.128/602.962] On Tue Dec 07, 2010, John Meister wrote: > got my TDI to the shop tonight, it sounded horrible... when I drove into the > shop's lot they were all > looking at it... sounded like chitty chitty bang bang... hopefully the used IP > pump will swap out without > drama... but why would it? :) > > looking at the Cherokee pictures it's nice to see it's all setup for an Automatic. > superdawg is setup for manual trans so I may keep it that way and look for a > Scout manual trans > for Superdawg... or some way of mating my T5 to the SAE#4 adapter so I can use > what I have and > keep superdawg as as stick since he'll be the dirt hauling errand vehicle. > > anyone have any ideas on the SAE#4 adapter out of my CJ-10A to a Jeep T5? Jim recommends a guy who lives up in Stanwood, he is the best, but when his landlord raised his rent he took his tools and went home... so if you really need a good job, get with Jim for directions to Chuck's... otherwise Les Schwab seems to be a good choice. I'd avoid Sears and Midas and other franchises... they'll try to sell you other stuff... Les Schwab seems to be pretty straight shooters... won't buy the tires there, but the repairs they do at some outfits are good. the one in snohomish is reported to be quite good... I use the one by Murphy's Corner (132nd & bothell everett). john On 12/7/2010 10:46 PM, Bruce Caruthers wrote: > Where do you go for alignments? I've been having problems with transmission flaring on the 190DT. I was ready to write the car off, just waiting for the day when a flare turned into a lost gear. But to my surprise, there was an easy cure. I replaced the K1 and K2 accumulator springs and waddaya know...smooth, crisp shifts. Both springs were badly damaged: the K1 is a compound spring, and the plastic keepers were broken. The K2 main spring was simply broken into pieces. The bad news is that I had to buy an entire Superior valve body kit for sixty bucks. The good news is that I have a healthy car again for just sixty bucks, plus the cost of a pan full of transmission fluid and a filter kit, and an hour and a half working in the freezing cold. I wholeheartedly recommend this fix if you have a flaring shifter. The kit has many, many parts which fix various problems, if you have anything else suspicious going on. http://www.superiortransmission.com/Product_Page.cfm?ID=19 Mike Frank ------------------------------ End of diesel-benz-digest V1 #3354 **********************************
