Wisconsin ala John, I did some "wrenching" of my own yesterday. I'd been having trouble with my snow plow pump motor. Sometimes it would work and sometimes it wouldn't. Made it interesting plowing the drive. Sometimes I'd have to get out and "tap" the positive post on the motor whilst someone else pushed the "up" button to raise the plow. I finally took the assembly off and tightened the positive post on the motor and replaced the power cable. Works like a charm now. Also got the lights on the plow assembly working also so I can drive in the dark with the plow attached. Now, as for that huge storm headed for southern Wisc. and northern IL?? BRING IT ON!!!!! ;) Jim ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 31 Jan 2011 09:29:12 -0800 (PST) From: john Subject: Re: [db] adventures in S.E. Wisconsin Well, we're forecast for anywhere between 8-20 inches of snow depending on how the storms track. We're already on the northern edge of the storms. Chicago is supposed to get HAMMERED! Possibly two feet of snow by Thurs! This is supposed to be a three day event with two actual storms converging over northern IL. I'll be using all that diesel power to move some white stuff this week. :) Jim - --- On Mon, 1/31/11, john wrote: > From: john > Subject: Re: [db] adventures in S.E. Before North American sales began, the car was shown in the 2002 movie Men in Black II. The W211-based W219 CLS-Class 4-door coupC) was introduced as a niche model in 2005, primarily to attract a younger demographic. The W211 E-Class was face lifted in 2006 to address quality and technical issues raised by earlier models, Sensotronic was dropped, while Pre-Safe (w/o brake support) was made standard. The largest factory built engine in the E-class range is the E500 (badged E550 in the U.S.) which had its engine size increased from 5 litres to 5.5 litres in 2006 along with the facelift. There is also an AMG model badged E63 AMG and other tuning house installations. Mercedes-Benz introduced their BlueTec Diesel system to the E-Class at the 2006 North American International Auto Show as the E320 CDI BlueTec. BlueTec is a two-phase system for cleaning diesel emissions. The first phase makes the E320 CDI legal in 45 of the 50 United States (plus the District of Columbia). The second phase uses urea for further reductions to meet the more stringent standards of California, Maine, Massachusetts, New York, and Vermont. Sales of E320 CDI BlueTec began in autumn 2006 as a 2007 model, but 50-state legal models with urea injection will not be introduced until the 2009 model year. ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 si vis pacem, para bellum http://johnmeister.com http://wagoneers.com http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 31 Jan 2011 10:26:29 -0800 (PST) From: john Subject: [db] '87 190D 2.5 just stumbled upon an '87 190D with a 2.5L Diesel.. ad doesn't say Turbo, and the rear picture just shows the 2.5 badge indicating it's likely not the turbo, my '91 300D clearly says 2.5L Turbo on the back. I think the boys in stuttgart are proud of their turbos. They are known to easily go over 500,000 miles. The 190D was available in three different engines. The 2.0 was the baseline, and available in Europe only. The 2.2 was only available in 1984 and 1985 in the USA. The 2.5 was available in the late 80's and early 90's. The 2.5 Turbo was available in 1987 only, and is now a collectors item. The exterior of the 2.5 Turbo differentiates from the other models in that it has fender flares in the front fenders for the turbo to breathe. john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 si vis pacem, para bellum http://johnmeister.com http://wagoneers.com http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 31 Jan 2011 10:45:36 -0800 (PST) From: john Subject: [db] 10 greatest ever Mercedes http://cars.uk.msn.com/features/photos.aspx?cp-documentid=147900011&page=1 the page is poorly written, msn... suspect it involves microsoft... anyway, that looks like a 190 series in the picture... likely the cogsworth... The suspension is squeaky...even getting in and out of the car or driving over speed bumps, etc.. Very nimble in parking lots...very tight turning radius....you can easily get into any parking spot without even preparing for it...just whip it in. Over 75 mph, with the 2.2L, the RPMs are over 4000, and mine starts to shake. Over 80 mph, it feels like it's unsafe due to the shaking. I generally drive between 70-73 mph on long road trips, and that's pretty much a sweet spot. I never got 34 in town. Occasionally, like maybe once or twice, I got 34 on the road, otherwise, I generally got between 28-30 in town and 33 on the road. Once I got the AC working, it went down a couple from there. I'm actually thinking about selling or donating mine soon...it's running fine. I couldn't find any accompanying text. Yes, the rear spoiler suggests this was a Cosworth W201, probably the 190E 2.3-16, although there were a couple of other sizes of hotted-up engine available outside the US. The only modern entries in the list were said early W201 and a nice big later model W126. So they consider that the last great MB. Probably right.
