I think it was originally intended for Dodge, but the project has been in limbo for a while with the Fiat ownership changed, etc. Apparently Nissan has picked up the project, and will have this newer, smaller 5.0L Cummins diesel in 2013 Nissan Titan's. However, there have also been rumors that the new model Titan's will be based upon the Dodge/ Chrysler/ Ram platform anyway. Nissan is looking to stay in the full size truck market, but wants to share engineering development costs, etc. Of course, the GM 4.5L baby Duramax was virtually completed, but put on the shelf during the government bailout situation. We have not heard of anything involved bringing back yet, so it all remains to be seen. - -- - -Troy Troy Phagan C.R.P. 4x4& Auto Accessories 2102 9th ST Greeley, CO 80631 970-351-8603 fax: 970-353-3066 tsp@crptruck.com www.crptruck.com www.smilingcharleys.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 3 May 2011 09:50:16 -0700 (PDT) From: john Subject: Re: [db] Recommendation, please the touregs I've test driven felt tight, handled well and were better fit and quality than the WJ Grand Cherokees of the time... the mileage was about the same, but performance wasn't quite as good... couldn't see spending the money on them vs. the American GC... however, as the vehicles age it's become apparent that the Toureg has a better drivetrain... the WJs with the 4.0 don't get the same mileage on the highway as the 4.7s and have a few mechanical issues... the 4.7s if driven short distances on dino oil sludge up and die at an alarming rate... it's just too bad that we didn't get the Diesel version of the WJ here in the states. ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -o|||||o- Snohomish, Washington - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 http://JohnMeister.com HTTP://WAGONEERS.COM http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ On Tue, 3 May 2011, Eric Ditwiler wrote: # The Toureg is a top Baja Racer for Soccer Moms # # I'd buy an older G-wagon if I had that much money to spend! # # # # Eric Ditwiler # Director, Academic Operations # Harvey Mudd College # 909-607-3134 # # On May 3, 2011, at 7:54 AM, Jim Hoffman wrote: # # > In my opinion the Toureg is ridiculously over priced and get's WAY # > to little fuel mileage for a diesel. I know nothing about a new diesel. I just know when they first came out they got in the LOW 20's for MPGs and I thought that was just ridiculous. I could get better than that with dozens of gas engines in the same size vehicle. My RAM gets between 20 and 22 on the highway. Between 17-18 average. The gassers that could pull that much were lucky to get low teens. The gassers that got that mileage didn't have enough torque for serious pulling.
