Impressive! *** I sat in a Delorean once. No flux capacitor. It was small. REALLY small. I'm not big, but it was too small for me. There was an indentation in each gullwing door - for the rest of your head! I could just about - barely - see from under the indentation. - Jerry Kaidor ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 26 Aug 2011 18:39:45 -0400 From: Greg Nelsen Subject: [db] 1982 240D restoration Greetings! Long time subscriber, first time poster. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience restoring a 240D? I am in the early stages of a restoration and was wondering what others' experiences have been. The particulars: 1982 240D, Orient Red / Palomino, ~297K miles, no rust ('cept for one minor spot), all mechanicals work, save for the cruise control (natch). Me (and the car) are originally from Texas. I am the second owner of the car and have concentrated on mechanicals for the 22 years (!) I have owned it: rebuilt engine, rebuilt transmission, general replacement of parts at the prescribed intervals. Fluid replacements have also been at the recommended intervals, oil changes every 3k miles (have recently switched to synthetic), coolant flush every two years, brake system flushed every year, etc. I have not driven the car much for the past few years as I often travel extensively for business. But I am now at a local account and would like to drive my Benz once again. But the car is looking quite long in the tooth and I get sticker shock looking at new vehicles. I am particularly keen to hear of others' experiences and any tips offered. Thanks! Greg ------------------------------ End of diesel-benz-digest V1 #3467 **********************************
