I've got two jettas, easy to work on... economy is better. long term the benz is a far better vehicle... when the jetta is 24 years old it'll be a nasty, wretched eye sore... but then again after that much time so will I be. :) john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -o|||||o- fahrvergnugen y'all Snohomish, Washington - where Jeeps and VWs don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 http://JohnMeister.com HTTP://WAGONEERS.COM http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ On Wed, 14 Sep 2011, jasonbassett@juno.com wrote: # "The 300D is a beauty... great ride... nice seats... quieter, more refined, # more # dignified... and totally rust free... Have been doing national searches for my next vehicle and have seen later models 90-93s for less. Granted yours looks very good in the pictures. No excellent condition is more appropriate. I have made a habit of contacting sellers after the sale, well those that have answered and many are selling for 30% or so below asking. Can say that the 90-93 124's are being snatched up as there appears to be far fewer available via private sales and a higher concentration on professional lots. - -----Original Message----- >From: john >Sent: Sep 14, 2011 8:24 PM >To: jjs3rd@ix.netcom.com >Cc: diesel-benz@digest.net >Subject: [db] Re: 1987 Mercedes 300D 3.0L Turbo Diesel I-6 Craigslist (Snohomish) > >what do you think the price should be? > >I may be stuck with this car... :( > >just spent $1450 getting the shocks replaced, belt, timing chain checked, wheels aligned... >then another $550 for the new a/c compressor, radiator and freon fill. > >then there's the new alarm and stereo... > >I got the car for a reasonable price... actually quite a bit below book, guess I know now why. :) > >john > > > > ----- >------------------------------------------------------------------------ > -o|||||o- fahrvergnugen y'all > Snohomish, Washington - where Jeeps and VWs don't rust, they mold > http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 > http://JohnMeister.com HTTP://WAGONEERS.COM http://fotomeister.us >------------------------------------------------------------------------ > > >On Wed, 14 Sep 2011, jjs3rd@ix.netcom.com wrote: > > # John, > # > # Im sure you saw this on Craigslist as it is in your back yard. I'm afraid that I'm buried in this thing now. The shop didn't fix all the issues I had with the car, but I think my expectations are misplaced. The car is pristine, runs great but I just don't like the way it feels compared to my jettas Selling my jetta wagon will make me more money and be easier. Also getting rid of the manual car makes sense. I should have done the repairs myself, but couildn't. Haven't been home long enough in the last two weeks to catch up on email.
