It's not difficult, and the only other thing it could be with the symptoms you're seeing is a broken drive shaft, which is NOT likely, and you'll see that when you take the pump off if it's the issue. Had minimal vacuum at other end. Manual talks about bleed down test to confirm whether the check valve is working. But looking like its time for a new vacuum pump. Do not know if ever was replaced but at 280k I guess its time. If anyone can think if a real idiot proof test to be sure I would appreciate it.
