I like her little white jetta too, but I think I like that silver wagon more, same year, but with 100k more miles... both have fresh timing belts, tires, transmissions... white sedan with tan leather heated seats or silver wagon with black leather heated seats... I like the looks and practical nature of the wagon but it's not as tight or in as good of condition as the sedan... but the wagon has a lot more room for hauling stuff and is easier to deal with wvo in... :) keep the popcorn fresh. :) john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -o|||||o- fahrvergnugen y'all Snohomish, Washington - where Jeeps and VWs don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 TRSTGZS http://JohnMeister.com HTTP://WAGONEERS.COM http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ On Sun, 20 Nov 2011, Stephen Rigley wrote: # That is where they sit in my CLK at least. # Here is what they look like : # http://www.benzworld.org/forums/attachments/general-mercedes-benz/165137d1204342987-more-lowering-questions-spring-20pads.jpg # # Each of those dots signifies a difference of 5mm. # # Steve # # On Sat, Nov 19, 2011 at 6:18 PM, john wrote: # # > no, just looked at my pictures, unless there is one stuffed up in the # > spring holder up top... # > # > # > # > ----- # > ------------------------------------------------------------------------ # > -o|||||o- fahrvergnugen y'all # > Snohomish, Washington - where Jeeps and VWs don't rust, they mold # > http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 TRSTGZS # > http://JohnMeister.com HTTP://WAGONEERS.COM http://fotomeister.us # > ------------------------------------------------------------------------ # > # > # > On Sat, 19 Nov 2011, Stephen Rigley wrote: # > # > # Ha ha! # > # John are there pads between spring and body? # > # On Nov 19, 2011 4:15 PM, "Jim Hoffman" wrote: # > # # > # > Maybe traffic would move along more quickly if everyone were paying # > # > attention # > # > to their driving instead of taking pictures... # > # > # > # > Just a thought... :D # > # > # > # > # > # > --- # > # > On Sat, 11/19/11, john wrote: # > # > # > # > > From: john # > # > # > # > > Subject: [db] commute, snow, front springs # > # > > To: # > # > > # > # > Date: Saturday, November 19, 2011, 1:53 AM # > # > > had to commute down to bellevue # > # > for a # > # > > few days for a class... not as bad as it was years ago, # > # > > but still # > # > pretty bad... what normally takes about 20 # > # > > minutes on a weekend or later in # > # > the evening took about an # > # > > hour... we're talking about 15 miles... # > # > > # > # > > # > # > # > http://fotomeister.us/2011/11-Nov-18-commuting-124-clearance-SNOW/ALL.html # > # > > # > # > > they're widening SR9, taking down trees... they should have # > # > > widen this # > # > road over 20 years ago... # > # > > # > # > > also looking at why the front end of my '87 # > # > 300D is sitting # > # > > up higher than what I think it should be... # > # > > sure, I put # > # > lift kits on jeeps and was even considering # > # > > doing it to my jetta, but not # > # > this benz... # > # > > it's stance is wrong... need to figure out why it # > # > > sits up # > # > higher... # > # > > # > # > > # > # > > and of course we are having some snow... not likely to # > # > > # > # > stick... but it was nice for it to wait for # > # > > the weekend... :) # > # > > # > # > > john # > # > > # > # > > # > # > > # > # > > ----- # > # > > # > # > # > ------------------------------------------------------------------------ # > # > > # > # > # > # > > -o|||||o- fahrvergnugen y'all # > # > > Snohomish, Washington - where # > # > Jeeps and VWs don't # > # > > rust, they mold # > # > > # > # > http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 # > # > > TRSTGZS # > # > > # > # > http://JohnMeister.com HTTP://WAGONEERS.COM http://fotomeister.us # > # > > # > # > # > ------------------------------------------------------------------------ # > # # > # ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 19 Nov 2011 23:02:15 -0800 (PST) From: john Subject: Re: [db] some specs yeah, chuck had his email, sent him a note... If I cut the spring down then I'll need to have the front end realigned... would need to borrow a spring compressor... one coil might be too much though, lot of work... fwiw, my wife drove the car today, she recognizes that it was faster than her previous '91 300D with the 2.5L TD. She keeps saying she likes it... She thinks I should drive her Jetta and she'll drive the benz... so the wobble can be left alone, she doesn't mind it... if we go somewhere we'll take the jetta as it gets 35mpg vs. 26mpg... So, if we do swap, then I may just get that '02 wagon and sell her jetta, although her jetta is immaculate... and low miles and will have a new trans... but I like the practicality of the wagon... love the way that rear compartment is perfect to setup my tools... I can back in and have cover, power outlet and the tools I need... :) assuming that aamco rebuilds the transmission properly it should be an easy sale... my wife doesn't like the wagon style... but if she's driving the benz the problems are solved both ways... the benz is in superb condition... really did well in heavy traffic, was easy to get into openings and easy to control the speed with traffic so I didn't have to use the brakes much... this way we don't lose money on it... invested in it... we'll keep it for a long time... and I may just change out the timing chains at 250k just to be safe... :) we'll see how this all works out... :) and we're still waiting on my J10... :) john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -o|||||o- fahrvergnugen y'all Snohomish, Washington - where Jeeps and VWs don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 TRSTGZS http://JohnMeister.com HTTP://WAGONEERS.COM http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ On Sat, 19 Nov 2011, Jon Filina wrote: # John, # # Check page 343, "Afterward".
