When I opened the dash, I discovered a bad vacuum control on the blend flap. That explains why I only get blasting heat. I replaced it, and my next task is to check out the blend rheostat. If that has to be replaced, there's major dashboard work to get the old part out. Let's hope not. My sill covers arrived today. I scored them on E-Bay for just $20, and they're brand new! Left over from someone's project I guess. They will work perfectly...the rusty sills will be hidden behind a wall of plastic. I bought the installation kit direct from Mercedes...it cost six times what the part itself cost. No matter, for $140 my rusty sill problem is going to be solved. I'll try to post some photos this weekend. This one was made by Fichtel & Sachs and lasted 130k miles. Bought a new Behr clutch which came to me by courier service. As it was not kept upright quite a bit of oil had already drained out. Checked with a MB dealer and their price is Cdn $ 600 plus tax Hard to understand the price difference. BTW very easy to change the clutch on this model. From: Edward Pomeroy Subject: Re: [db] Fan clutch MB 300d 2.5turbo Try bleeding air out of the cooling system, had a similar problem with my Pontiac van when I replaced the water pump. Pain to bleed it all out but it is a cheap thing to check first. - -- Thanks for the advice b^S not a problem to bleed air from the cooling system b^S I also pour coolant into the top rad hose, connect to the engine only. Much harder to bleed air from a water cooled VW van with the engine in the back and the rad in the front ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 05 Aug 2012 22:29:22 -0400 From: Michael Frank Subject: [db] My summer project Coming along.
