My hometown in New York was partially submerged. Eventually asked the local police to send someone out to check on my 86 year old mom and disabled sister (FIOS phone + no electricity = no phone, plus cell reception is nearly non-existent even in normal times there) and they are fine. Talked to an old friend in my hometown and learned what flooded, who has power, etc. As usual, she has the local fire department keeping an ear out for any alerts near my mom. :) So far, I've reached or heard about most of my friends and family in NY and NJ, and they seem okay, if cold, wet, and without power or fuel. Many seem to have already gotten power back today, at least. Most who were evacuated have been able to return to their homes and start cleaning up. Still need to reach my sister in NH and friends in PA (although not so worried about the PA ones, since it was mostly just a normal storm by there). My Facebook feed has been fairly slow and quiet since the storm struck. Really makes me recognize how many of my Facebook friends are back East. (I think John's Facebook posts have been 2/3 of my overall newsfeed...) - -bkc Lynnwood, WA On Fri Nov 02, 2012, John Meister wrote: > > Haven't seen anything on the list from friends on the other coast... hoping that > everyone is ok... This obviously has the potential to be quite dangerous. Specifically, Liberty vehicles built between January 9, 2001, and March 28, 2003 are in question. As for the Grand Cherokee, potentially affected vehicles were built between February 13, 2001 and May 23, 2003. FWIW - I installed the GreenDieselEngineering Eco-Tune on our '05 KJ limited CRD... went from 20mpg to over 25mpg... throttle response is more linear, less smoke, seems better behaved... not squealing the tires starting out quickly... before it seems like there was too much power right off the line and a harder pedal... pedal seems lighter, easier to control... much nicer to drive... and it makes a very happy Diesel sound now. They have a tune for the TDI... not sure it's worth it, only offers about 2mpg more... but it does eliminate the egr clogging issue on them... john ----- - ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- -o|||||o- Linux: the choice of a GNU generation http://WAGONEERS.COM Snohomish, WA- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold ...shop AMSOIL directly at: http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 - ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- "A thorough knowledge of the Bible is worth more than a college education" Theodore Roosevelt (26th President (1901-09), 1858-1919) RTB&TRSTGZS - ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ End of diesel-benz-digest V1 #3687 **********************************
