12 - Genesis 39-41
Gen 39:1 And Joseph was brought down to Egypt; and Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him of the hands of the Ishmeelites, which had brought him down thither. (kjv) Gen 39:1 Now Joseph had been taken down to Egypt; and Potiphar, an Egyptian officer of Pharaoh, the captain of the bodyguard, bought him from the Ishmaelites, who had taken him down there. Gen|39|1|Ιωσηφ δὲ κατήχθη εἰς Αἴγυπτον καὶ ἐκτήσατο αὐτὸν Πετεφρης ὁ εὐνοῦχος Φαραω ἀρχιμάγειρος ἀνὴρ Αἰγύπτιος ἐκ χειρὸς Ισμαηλιτῶν οἳ κατήγαγον αὐτὸν ἐκεῖ
Gen 39:2 And the LORD was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian. (kjv) Gen 39:2 The Lord was with Joseph, so he became a successful man. And he was in the house of his master, the Egyptian. Gen|39|2|καὶ ἦν κύριος μετὰ Ιωσηφ καὶ ἦν ἀνὴρ ἐπιτυγχάνων καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ παρὰ τῷ κυρίῳ τῷ Αἰγυπτίῳ
Gen 39:3 And his master saw that the LORD was with him, and that the LORD made all that he did to prosper in his hand. (kjv) Gen 39:3 Now his master saw that the Lord was with him and how the Lord caused all that he did to prosper in his hand. Gen|39|3|ᾔδει δὲ ὁ κύριος αὐτοῦ ὅτι κύριος μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ καὶ ὅσα ἂν ποιῇ κύριος εὐοδοῖ ἐν ταῖς χερσὶν αὐτοῦ
Gen 39:4 And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him: and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand. (kjv) Gen 39:4 So Joseph found favor in his sight and became his personal servant; and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he owned he put in his charge. Gen|39|4|καὶ εὗρεν Ιωσηφ χάριν ἐναντίον τοῦ κυρίου αὐτοῦ εὐηρέστει δὲ αὐτῷ καὶ κατέστησεν αὐτὸν ἐπὶ τοῦ οἴκου αὐτοῦ καὶ πάντα ὅσα ἦν αὐτῷ ἔδωκεν διὰ χειρὸς Ιωσηφ
Gen 39:5 And it came to pass from the time that he had made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that the LORD blessed the Egyptian's house for Joseph's sake; and the blessing of the LORD was upon all that he had in the house, and in the field. (kjv) Gen 39:5 It came about that from the time he made him overseer in his house and over all that he owned, the Lord blessed the Egyptian's house on account of Joseph; thus the Lord's blessing was upon all that he owned, in the house and in the field. Gen|39|5|ἐγένετο δὲ μετὰ τὸ κατασταθῆναι αὐτὸν ἐπὶ τοῦ οἴκου αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐπὶ πάντα ὅσα ἦν αὐτῷ καὶ ηὐλόγησεν κύριος τὸν οἶκον τοῦ Αἰγυπτίου διὰ Ιωσηφ καὶ ἐγενήθη εὐλογία κυρίου ἐν πᾶσιν τοῖς ὑπάρχουσιν αὐτῷ ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ καὶ ἐν τῷ ἀγρῷ
Gen 39:6 And he left all that he had in Joseph's hand; and he knew not ought he had, save the bread which he did eat. And Joseph was a goodly person, and well favoured. (kjv) Gen 39:6 So he left everything he owned in Joseph's charge; and with him there he did not concern himself with anything except the food which he ate. Now Joseph was handsome in form and appearance. Gen|39|6|καὶ ἐπέτρεψεν πάντα ὅσα ἦν αὐτῷ εἰς χεῖρας Ιωσηφ καὶ οὐκ ᾔδει τῶν καθ᾽ ἑαυτὸν οὐδὲν πλὴν τοῦ ἄρτου οὗ ἤσθιεν αὐτός καὶ ἦν Ιωσηφ καλὸς τῷ εἴδει καὶ ὡραῖος τῇ ὄψει σφόδρα
Gen 39:7 And it came to pass after these things, that his master's wife cast her eyes upon Joseph; and she said, Lie with me. (kjv) Gen 39:7 It came about after these events that his master's wife looked with desire at Joseph, and she said, "Lie with me." Gen|39|7|καὶ ἐγένετο μετὰ τὰ ῥήματα ταῦτα καὶ ἐπέβαλεν ἡ γυνὴ τοῦ κυρίου αὐτοῦ τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς αὐτῆς ἐπὶ Ιωσηφ καὶ εἶπεν κοιμήθητι μετ᾽ ἐμοῦ
Gen 39:8 But he refused, and said unto his master's wife, Behold, my master wotteth not what is with me in the house, and he hath committed all that he hath to my hand; (kjv) Gen 39:8 But he refused and said to his master's wife, "Behold, with me here, my master does not concern himself with anything in the house, and he has put all that he owns in my charge. Gen|39|8|ὁ δὲ οὐκ ἤθελεν εἶπεν δὲ τῇ γυναικὶ τοῦ κυρίου αὐτοῦ εἰ ὁ κύριός μου οὐ γινώσκει δι᾽ ἐμὲ οὐδὲν ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ αὐτοῦ καὶ πάντα ὅσα ἐστὶν αὐτῷ ἔδωκεν εἰς τὰς χεῖράς μου
Gen 39:9 There is none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back any thing from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God? (kjv) Gen 39:9 There is no one greater in this house than I, and he has withheld nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. How then could I do this great evil and sin against God?" Gen|39|9|καὶ οὐχ ὑπερέχει ἐν τῇ οἰκίᾳ ταύτῃ οὐθὲν ἐμοῦ οὐδὲ ὑπεξῄρηται ἀπ᾽ ἐμοῦ οὐδὲν πλὴν σοῦ διὰ τὸ σὲ γυναῖκα αὐτοῦ εἶναι καὶ πῶς ποιήσω τὸ ῥῆμα τὸ πονηρὸν τοῦτο καὶ ἁμαρτήσομαι ἐναντίον τοῦ θεοῦ
Gen 39:10 And it came to pass, as she spake to Joseph day by day, that he hearkened not unto her, to lie by her, or to be with her. (kjv) Gen 39:10 As she spoke to Joseph day after day, he did not listen to her to lie beside her or be with her. Gen|39|10|ἡνίκα δὲ ἐλάλει τῷ Ιωσηφ ἡμέραν ἐξ ἡμέρας καὶ οὐχ ὑπήκουσεν αὐτῇ καθεύδειν μετ᾽ αὐτῆς τοῦ συγγενέσθαι αὐτῇ
Gen 39:11 And it came to pass about this time, that Joseph went into the house to do his business; and there was none of the men of the house there within. (kjv) Gen 39:11 Now it happened one day that he went into the house to do his work, and none of the men of the household was there inside. Gen|39|11|ἐγένετο δὲ τοιαύτη τις ἡμέρα εἰσῆλθεν Ιωσηφ εἰς τὴν οἰκίαν ποιεῖν τὰ ἔργα αὐτοῦ καὶ οὐθεὶς ἦν τῶν ἐν τῇ οἰκίᾳ ἔσω
Gen 39:12 And she caught him by his garment, saying, Lie with me: and he left his garment in her hand, and fled, and got him out. (kjv) Gen 39:12 She caught him by his garment, saying, "Lie with me!" And he left his garment in her hand and fled, and went outside. Gen|39|12|καὶ ἐπεσπάσατο αὐτὸν τῶν ἱματίων λέγουσα κοιμήθητι μετ᾽ ἐμοῦ καὶ καταλιπὼν τὰ ἱμάτια αὐτοῦ ἐν ταῖς χερσὶν αὐτῆς ἔφυγεν καὶ ἐξῆλθεν ἔξω
Gen 39:13 And it came to pass, when she saw that he had left his garment in her hand, and was fled forth, (kjv) Gen 39:13 When she saw that he had left his garment in her hand and had fled outside, Gen|39|13|καὶ ἐγένετο ὡς εἶδεν ὅτι κατέλιπεν τὰ ἱμάτια αὐτοῦ ἐν ταῖς χερσὶν αὐτῆς καὶ ἔφυγεν καὶ ἐξῆλθεν ἔξω
Gen 39:14 That she called unto the men of her house, and spake unto them, saying, See, he hath brought in an Hebrew unto us to mock us; he came in unto me to lie with me, and I cried with a loud voice: (kjv) Gen 39:14 she called to the men of her household and said to them, "See, he has brought in a Hebrew to us to make sport of us; he came in to me to lie with me, and I screamed. Gen|39|14|καὶ ἐκάλεσεν τοὺς ὄντας ἐν τῇ οἰκίᾳ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς λέγουσα ἴδετε εἰσήγαγεν ἡμῖν παῖδα Εβραῖον ἐμπαίζειν ἡμῖν εἰσῆλθεν πρός με λέγων κοιμήθητι μετ᾽ ἐμοῦ καὶ ἐβόησα φωνῇ μεγάλῃ
Gen 39:15 And it came to pass, when he heard that I lifted up my voice and cried, that he left his garment with me, and fled, and got him out. (kjv) Gen 39:15 When he heard that I raised my voice and screamed, he left his garment beside me and fled and went outside." Gen|39|15|ἐν δὲ τῷ ἀκοῦσαι αὐτὸν ὅτι ὕψωσα τὴν φωνήν μου καὶ ἐβόησα καταλιπὼν τὰ ἱμάτια αὐτοῦ παρ᾽ ἐμοὶ ἔφυγεν καὶ ἐξῆλθεν ἔξω
Gen 39:16 And she laid up his garment by her, until his lord came home. (kjv) Gen 39:16 So she left his garment beside her until his master came home. Gen|39|16|καὶ καταλιμπάνει τὰ ἱμάτια παρ᾽ ἑαυτῇ ἕως ἦλθεν ὁ κύριος εἰς τὸν οἶκον αὐτοῦ
Gen 39:17 And she spake unto him according to these words, saying, The Hebrew servant, which thou hast brought unto us, came in unto me to mock me: (kjv) Gen 39:17 Then she spoke to him with these words, "The Hebrew slave, whom you brought to us, came in to me to make sport of me; Gen|39|17|καὶ ἐλάλησεν αὐτῷ κατὰ τὰ ῥήματα ταῦτα λέγουσα εἰσῆλθεν πρός με ὁ παῖς ὁ Εβραῖος ὃν εἰσήγαγες πρὸς ἡμᾶς ἐμπαῖξαί μοι καὶ εἶπέν μοι κοιμηθήσομαι μετὰ σοῦ
Gen 39:18 And it came to pass, as I lifted up my voice and cried, that he left his garment with me, and fled out. (kjv) Gen 39:18 and as I raised my voice and screamed, he left his garment beside me and fled outside." Gen|39|18|ὡς δὲ ἤκουσεν ὅτι ὕψωσα τὴν φωνήν μου καὶ ἐβόησα κατέλιπεν τὰ ἱμάτια αὐτοῦ παρ᾽ ἐμοὶ καὶ ἔφυγεν καὶ ἐξῆλθεν ἔξω
Gen 39:19 And it came to pass, when his master heard the words of his wife, which she spake unto him, saying, After this manner did thy servant to me; that his wrath was kindled. (kjv) Gen 39:19 Now when his master heard the words of his wife, which she spoke to him, saying, "This is what your slave did to me," his anger burned. Gen|39|19|ἐγένετο δὲ ὡς ἤκουσεν ὁ κύριος αὐτοῦ τὰ ῥήματα τῆς γυναικὸς αὐτοῦ ὅσα ἐλάλησεν πρὸς αὐτὸν λέγουσα οὕτως ἐποίησέν μοι ὁ παῖς σου καὶ ἐθυμώθη ὀργῇ
Gen 39:20 And Joseph's master took him, and put him into the prison, a place where the king's prisoners were bound: and he was there in the prison. (kjv) Gen 39:20 So Joseph's master took him and put him into the jail, the place where the king's prisoners were confined; and he was there in the jail. Gen|39|20|καὶ λαβὼν ὁ κύριος Ιωσηφ ἐνέβαλεν αὐτὸν εἰς τὸ ὀχύρωμα εἰς τὸν τόπον ἐν ᾧ οἱ δεσμῶται τοῦ βασιλέως κατέχονται ἐκεῖ ἐν τῷ ὀχυρώματι
Gen 39:21 But the LORD was with Joseph, and shewed him mercy, and gave him favour in the sight of the keeper of the prison. (kjv) Gen 39:21 But the Lord was with Joseph and extended kindness to him, and gave him favor in the sight of the chief jailer. Gen|39|21|καὶ ἦν κύριος μετὰ Ιωσηφ καὶ κατέχεεν αὐτοῦ ἔλεος καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτῷ χάριν ἐναντίον τοῦ ἀρχιδεσμοφύλακος
Gen 39:22 And the keeper of the prison committed to Joseph's hand all the prisoners that were in the prison; and whatsoever they did there, he was the doer of it. (kjv) Gen 39:22 The chief jailer committed to Joseph's charge all the prisoners who were in the jail; so that whatever was done there, he was responsible for it. Gen|39|22|καὶ ἔδωκεν ὁ ἀρχιδεσμοφύλαξ τὸ δεσμωτήριον διὰ χειρὸς Ιωσηφ καὶ πάντας τοὺς ἀπηγμένους ὅσοι ἐν τῷ δεσμωτηρίῳ καὶ πάντα ὅσα ποιοῦσιν ἐκεῖ
Gen 39:23 The keeper of the prison looked not to any thing that was under his hand; because the LORD was with him, and that which he did, the LORD made it to prosper.(kjv) Gen 39:23 The chief jailer did not supervise anything under Joseph's charge because the Lord was with him; and whatever he did, the Lord made to prosper. Gen|39|23|οὐκ ἦν ὁ ἀρχιδεσμοφύλαξ τοῦ δεσμωτηρίου γινώσκων δι᾽ αὐτὸν οὐθέν πάντα γὰρ ἦν διὰ χειρὸς Ιωσηφ διὰ τὸ τὸν κύριον μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ εἶναι καὶ ὅσα αὐτὸς ἐποίει κύριος εὐώδου ἐν ταῖς χερσὶν αὐτοῦ
Gen 40:1 And it came to pass after these things, that the butler of the king of Egypt and his baker had offended their lord the king of Egypt. (kjv) Gen 40:1 Then it came about after these things, the cupbearer and the baker for the king of Egypt offended their lord, the king of Egypt. Gen|40|1|ἐγένετο δὲ μετὰ τὰ ῥήματα ταῦτα ἥμαρτεν ὁ ἀρχιοινοχόος τοῦ βασιλέως Αἰγύπτου καὶ ὁ ἀρχισιτοποιὸς τῷ κυρίῳ αὐτῶν βασιλεῖ Αἰγύπτου
Gen 40:2 And Pharaoh was wroth against two of his officers, against the chief of the butlers, and against the chief of the bakers. (kjv) Gen 40:2 Pharaoh was furious with his two officials, the chief cupbearer and the chief baker. Gen|40|2|καὶ ὠργίσθη Φαραω ἐπὶ τοῖς δυσὶν εὐνούχοις αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τῷ ἀρχιοινοχόῳ καὶ ἐπὶ τῷ ἀρχισιτοποιῷ
Gen 40:3 And he put them in ward in the house of the captain of the guard, into the prison, the place where Joseph was bound. (kjv) Gen 40:3 So he put them in confinement in the house of the captain of the bodyguard, in the jail, the same place where Joseph was imprisoned. Gen|40|3|καὶ ἔθετο αὐτοὺς ἐν φυλακῇ παρὰ τῷ δεσμοφύλακι εἰς τὸ δεσμωτήριον εἰς τὸν τόπον οὗ Ιωσηφ ἀπῆκτο ἐκεῖ
Gen 40:4 And the captain of the guard charged Joseph with them, and he served them: and they continued a season in ward. (kjv) Gen 40:4 The captain of the bodyguard put Joseph in charge of them, and he took care of them; and they were in confinement for some time. Gen|40|4|καὶ συνέστησεν ὁ ἀρχιδεσμώτης τῷ Ιωσηφ αὐτούς καὶ παρέστη αὐτοῖς ἦσαν δὲ ἡμέρας ἐν τῇ φυλακῇ
Gen 40:5 And they dreamed a dream both of them, each man his dream in one night, each man according to the interpretation of his dream, the butler and the baker of the king of Egypt, which were bound in the prison. (kjv) Gen 40:5 Then the cupbearer and the baker for the king of Egypt, who were confined in jail, both had a dream the same night, each man with his own dream and each dream with its own interpretation. Gen|40|5|καὶ εἶδον ἀμφότεροι ἐνύπνιον ἑκάτερος ἐνύπνιον ἐν μιᾷ νυκτὶ ὅρασις τοῦ ἐνυπνίου αὐτοῦ ὁ ἀρχιοινοχόος καὶ ὁ ἀρχισιτοποιός οἳ ἦσαν τῷ βασιλεῖ Αἰγύπτου οἱ ὄντες ἐν τῷ δεσμωτηρίῳ
Gen 40:6 And Joseph came in unto them in the morning, and looked upon them, and, behold, they were sad. (kjv) Gen 40:6 When Joseph came to them in the morning and observed them, behold, they were dejected. Gen|40|6|εἰσῆλθεν δὲ πρὸς αὐτοὺς Ιωσηφ τὸ πρωὶ καὶ εἶδεν αὐτούς καὶ ἦσαν τεταραγμένοι
Gen 40:7 And he asked Pharaoh's officers that were with him in the ward of his lord's house, saying, Wherefore look ye so sadly to day? (kjv) Gen 40:7 He asked Pharaoh's officials who were with him in confinement in his master's house, "Why are your faces so sad today?" Gen|40|7|καὶ ἠρώτα τοὺς εὐνούχους Φαραω οἳ ἦσαν μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ ἐν τῇ φυλακῇ παρὰ τῷ κυρίῳ αὐτοῦ λέγων τί ὅτι τὰ πρόσωπα ὑμῶν σκυθρωπὰ σήμερον
Gen 40:8 And they said unto him, We have dreamed a dream, and there is no interpreter of it. And Joseph said unto them, Do not interpretations belong to God? tell me them, I pray you. (kjv) Gen 40:8 Then they said to him, "We have had a dream and there is no one to interpret it." Then Joseph said to them, "Do not interpretations belong to God? Tell it to me, please." Gen|40|8|οἱ δὲ εἶπαν αὐτῷ ἐνύπνιον εἴδομεν καὶ ὁ συγκρίνων οὐκ ἔστιν αὐτό εἶπεν δὲ αὐτοῖς Ιωσηφ οὐχὶ διὰ τοῦ θεοῦ ἡ διασάφησις αὐτῶν ἐστιν διηγήσασθε οὖν μοι
Gen 40:9 And the chief butler told his dream to Joseph, and said to him, In my dream, behold, a vine was before me; (kjv) Gen 40:9 So the chief cupbearer told his dream to Joseph, and said to him, "In my dream, behold, there was a vine in front of me; Gen|40|9|καὶ διηγήσατο ὁ ἀρχιοινοχόος τὸ ἐνύπνιον αὐτοῦ τῷ Ιωσηφ καὶ εἶπεν ἐν τῷ ὕπνῳ μου ἦν ἄμπελος ἐναντίον μου
Gen 40:10 And in the vine were three branches: and it was as though it budded, and her blossoms shot forth; and the clusters thereof brought forth ripe grapes: (kjv) Gen 40:10 and on the vine were three branches. And as it was budding, its blossoms came out, and its clusters produced ripe grapes. Gen|40|10|ἐν δὲ τῇ ἀμπέλῳ τρεῖς πυθμένες καὶ αὐτὴ θάλλουσα ἀνενηνοχυῖα βλαστούς πέπειροι οἱ βότρυες σταφυλῆς
Gen 40:11 And Pharaoh's cup was in my hand: and I took the grapes, and pressed them into Pharaoh's cup, and I gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand. (kjv) Gen 40:11 Now Pharaoh's cup was in my hand; so I took the grapes and squeezed them into Pharaoh's cup, and I put the cup into Pharaoh's hand." Gen|40|11|καὶ τὸ ποτήριον Φαραω ἐν τῇ χειρί μου καὶ ἔλαβον τὴν σταφυλὴν καὶ ἐξέθλιψα αὐτὴν εἰς τὸ ποτήριον καὶ ἔδωκα τὸ ποτήριον εἰς τὰς χεῖρας Φαραω
Gen 40:12 And Joseph said unto him, This is the interpretation of it: The three branches are three days: (kjv) Gen 40:12 Then Joseph said to him, "This is the interpretation of it: the three branches are three days; Gen|40|12|καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Ιωσηφ τοῦτο ἡ σύγκρισις αὐτοῦ οἱ τρεῖς πυθμένες τρεῖς ἡμέραι εἰσίν
Gen 40:13 Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thine head, and restore thee unto thy place: and thou shalt deliver Pharaoh's cup into his hand, after the former manner when thou wast his butler. (kjv) Gen 40:13 within three more days Pharaoh will lift up your head and restore you to your office; and you will put Pharaoh's cup into his hand according to your former custom when you were his cupbearer. Gen|40|13|ἔτι τρεῖς ἡμέραι καὶ μνησθήσεται Φαραω τῆς ἀρχῆς σου καὶ ἀποκαταστήσει σε ἐπὶ τὴν ἀρχιοινοχοΐαν σου καὶ δώσεις τὸ ποτήριον Φαραω εἰς τὴν χεῖρα αὐτοῦ κατὰ τὴν ἀρχήν σου τὴν προτέραν ὡς ἦσθα οἰνοχοῶν
Gen 40:14 But think on me when it shall be well with thee, and shew kindness, I pray thee, unto me, and make mention of me unto Pharaoh, and bring me out of this house: (kjv) Gen 40:14 Only keep me in mind when it goes well with you, and please do me a kindness by mentioning me to Pharaoh and get me out of this house. Gen|40|14|ἀλλὰ μνήσθητί μου διὰ σεαυτοῦ ὅταν εὖ σοι γένηται καὶ ποιήσεις ἐν ἐμοὶ ἔλεος καὶ μνησθήσῃ περὶ ἐμοῦ Φαραω καὶ ἐξάξεις με ἐκ τοῦ ὀχυρώματος τούτου
Gen 40:15 For indeed I was stolen away out of the land of the Hebrews: and here also have I done nothing that they should put me into the dungeon. (kjv) Gen 40:15 For I was in fact kidnapped from the land of the Hebrews, and even here I have done nothing that they should have put me into the dungeon." Gen|40|15|ὅτι κλοπῇ ἐκλάπην ἐκ γῆς Εβραίων καὶ ὧδε οὐκ ἐποίησα οὐδέν ἀλλ᾽ ἐνέβαλόν με εἰς τὸν λάκκον τοῦτον
Gen 40:16 When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was good, he said unto Joseph, I also was in my dream, and, behold, I had three white baskets on my head: (kjv) Gen 40:16 When the chief baker saw that he had interpreted favorably, he said to Joseph, "I also saw in my dream, and behold, there were three baskets of white bread on my head; Gen|40|16|καὶ εἶδεν ὁ ἀρχισιτοποιὸς ὅτι ὀρθῶς συνέκρινεν καὶ εἶπεν τῷ Ιωσηφ κἀγὼ εἶδον ἐνύπνιον καὶ ᾤμην τρία κανᾶ χονδριτῶν αἴρειν ἐπὶ τῆς κεφαλῆς μου
Gen 40:17 And in the uppermost basket there was of all manner of bakemeats for Pharaoh; and the birds did eat them out of the basket upon my head. (kjv) Gen 40:17 and in the top basket there were some of all sorts of baked food for Pharaoh, and the birds were eating them out of the basket on my head." Gen 40:19 Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thy head from off thee, and shall hang thee on a tree; and the birds shall eat thy flesh from off thee. (kjv) Gen 40:19 within three more days Pharaoh will lift up your head from you and will hang you on a tree, and the birds will eat your flesh off you." Gen 40:20 And it came to pass the third day, which was Pharaoh's birthday, that he made a feast unto all his servants: and he lifted up the head of the chief butler and of the chief baker among his servants. (kjv) Gen 40:20 Thus it came about on the third day, which was Pharaoh's birthday, that he made a feast for all his servants; and he lifted up the head of the chief cupbearer and the head of the chief baker among his servants. Gen 40:21 And he restored the chief butler unto his butlership again; and he gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand: (kjv) Gen 40:21 He restored the chief cupbearer to his office, and he put the cup into Pharaoh's hand; Gen|40|21|καὶ ἀπεκατέστησεν τὸν ἀρχιοινοχόον ἐπὶ τὴν ἀρχὴν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔδωκεν τὸ ποτήριον εἰς τὴν χεῖρα Φαραω

Gen 41:1 And it came to pass at the end of two full years, that Pharaoh dreamed: and, behold, he stood by the river. (kjv) Gen 41:1 Now it happened at the end of two full years that Pharaoh had a dream, and behold, he was standing by the Nile. Gen 41:2 And, behold, there came up out of the river seven well favoured kine and fatfleshed; and they fed in a meadow. (kjv) Gen 41:2 And lo, from the Nile there came up seven cows, sleek and fat; and they grazed in the marsh grass. Gen 41:3 And, behold, seven other kine came up after them out of the river, ill favoured and leanfleshed; and stood by the other kine upon the brink of the river. (kjv) Gen 41:3 Then behold, seven other cows came up after them from the Nile, ugly and gaunt, and they stood by the other cows on the bank of the Nile. Gen 41:4 And the ill favoured and leanfleshed kine did eat up the seven well favoured and fat kine. So Pharaoh awoke. (kjv) Gen 41:4 The ugly and gaunt cows ate up the seven sleek and fat cows. Gen 41:5 And he slept and dreamed the second time: and, behold, seven ears of corn came up upon one stalk, rank and good. (kjv) Gen 41:5 He fell asleep and dreamed a second time; and behold, seven ears of grain came up on a single stalk, plump and good. Gen 41:7 And the seven thin ears devoured the seven rank and full ears. And Pharaoh awoke, and, behold, it was a dream. (kjv) Gen 41:7 The thin ears swallowed up the seven plump and full ears. Gen 41:8 And it came to pass in the morning that his spirit was troubled; and he sent and called for all the magicians of Egypt, and all the wise men thereof: and Pharaoh told them his dream; but there was none that could interpret them unto Pharaoh. (kjv) Gen 41:8 Now in the morning his spirit was troubled, so he sent and called for all the magicians of Egypt, and all its wise men. And Pharaoh told them his dreams, but there was no one who could interpret them to Pharaoh. Gen 41:9 Then spake the chief butler unto Pharaoh, saying, I do remember my faults this day: (kjv) Gen 41:9 Then the chief cupbearer spoke to Pharaoh, saying, "I would make mention today of my own offenses. Gen|41|9|καὶ ἐλάλησεν ὁ ἀρχιοινοχόος πρὸς Φαραω λέγων τὴν ἁμαρτίαν μου ἀναμιμνῄσκω σήμερον
Gen 41:10 Pharaoh was wroth with his servants, and put me in ward in the captain of the guard's house, both me and the chief baker: (kjv) Gen 41:10 Pharaoh was furious with his servants, and he put me in confinement in the house of the captain of the bodyguard, both me and the chief baker. Gen|41|10|Φαραω ὠργίσθη τοῖς παισὶν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔθετο ἡμᾶς ἐν φυλακῇ ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ τοῦ ἀρχιμαγείρου ἐμέ τε καὶ τὸν ἀρχισιτοποιόν
Gen 41:11 And we dreamed a dream in one night, I and he; we dreamed each man according to the interpretation of his dream. (kjv) Gen 41:11 We had a dream on the same night, he and I; each of us dreamed according to the interpretation of his own dream. Gen 41:12 And there was there with us a young man, an Hebrew, servant to the captain of the guard; and we told him, and he interpreted to us our dreams; to each man according to his dream he did interpret. (kjv) Gen 41:12 Now a Hebrew youth was with us there, a servant of the captain of the bodyguard, and we related them to him, and he interpreted our dreams for us. Gen 41:13 And it came to pass, as he interpreted to us, so it was; me he restored unto mine office, and him he hanged. (kjv) Gen 41:13 And just as he interpreted for us, so it happened; he restored me in my office, but he hanged him." Gen 41:14 Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him hastily out of the dungeon: and he shaved himself, and changed his raiment, and came in unto Pharaoh. (kjv) Gen 41:14 Then Pharaoh sent and called for Joseph, and they hurriedly brought him out of the dungeon; and when he had shaved himself and changed his clothes, he came to Pharaoh. Gen 41:15 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I have dreamed a dream, and there is none that can interpret it: and I have heard say of thee, that thou canst understand a dream to interpret it. (kjv) Gen 41:15 Pharaoh said to Joseph, "I have had a dream, but no one can interpret it; and I have heard it said about you, that when you hear a dream you can interpret it." Gen 41:16 And Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, It is not in me: God shall give Pharaoh an answer of peace. (kjv) Gen 41:16 Joseph then answered Pharaoh, saying, "It is not in me; God will give Pharaoh a favorable answer." Gen 41:17 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, In my dream, behold, I stood upon the bank of the river: (kjv) Gen 41:17 So Pharaoh spoke to Joseph, "In my dream, behold, I was standing on the bank of the Nile; Gen|41|17|ἐλάλησεν δὲ Φαραω τῷ Ιωσηφ λέγων ἐν τῷ ὕπνῳ μου ᾤμην ἑστάναι παρὰ τὸ χεῖλος τοῦ ποταμοῦ
Gen 41:18 And, behold, there came up out of the river seven kine, fatfleshed and well favoured; and they fed in a meadow: (kjv) Gen 41:18 and behold, seven cows, fat and sleek came up out of the Nile, and they grazed in the marsh grass. Gen 41:19 And, behold, seven other kine came up after them, poor and very ill favoured and leanfleshed, such as I never saw in all the land of Egypt for badness: (kjv) Gen 41:19 Lo, seven other cows came up after them, poor and very ugly and gaunt, such as I had never seen for ugliness in all the land of Egypt; Gen|41|19|καὶ ἰδοὺ ἑπτὰ βόες ἕτεραι ἀνέβαινον ὀπίσω αὐτῶν ἐκ τοῦ ποταμοῦ πονηραὶ καὶ αἰσχραὶ τῷ εἴδει καὶ λεπταὶ ταῖς σαρξίν οἵας οὐκ εἶδον τοιαύτας ἐν ὅλῃ γῇ Αἰγύπτῳ αἰσχροτέρας
Gen 41:20 And the lean and the ill favoured kine did eat up the first seven fat kine: (kjv) Gen 41:20 and the lean and ugly cows ate up the first seven fat cows. Gen|41|20|καὶ κατέφαγον αἱ ἑπτὰ βόες αἱ αἰσχραὶ καὶ λεπταὶ τὰς ἑπτὰ βόας τὰς πρώτας τὰς καλὰς καὶ ἐκλεκτάς
Gen 41:21 And when they had eaten them up, it could not be known that they had eaten them; but they were still ill favoured, as at the beginning. So I awoke. (kjv) Gen 41:21 Yet when they had devoured them, it could not be detected that they had devoured them, for they were just as ugly as before. Then I awoke. Gen|41|21|καὶ εἰσῆλθον εἰς τὰς κοιλίας αὐτῶν καὶ οὐ διάδηλοι ἐγένοντο ὅτι εἰσῆλθον εἰς τὰς κοιλίας αὐτῶν καὶ αἱ ὄψεις αὐτῶν αἰσχραὶ καθὰ καὶ τὴν ἀρχήν ἐξεγερθεὶς δὲ ἐκοιμήθην
Gen 41:22 And I saw in my dream, and, behold, seven ears came up in one stalk, full and good: (kjv) Gen 41:22 I saw also in my dream, and behold, seven ears, full and good, came up on a single stalk; Gen|41|22|καὶ εἶδον πάλιν ἐν τῷ ὕπνῳ μου καὶ ὥσπερ ἑπτὰ στάχυες ἀνέβαινον ἐν πυθμένι ἑνὶ πλήρεις καὶ καλοί
Gen 41:23 And, behold, seven ears, withered, thin, and blasted with the east wind, sprung up after them: (kjv) Gen 41:23 and lo, seven ears, withered, thin, and scorched by the east wind, sprouted up after them; Gen|41|23|ἄλλοι δὲ ἑπτὰ στάχυες λεπτοὶ καὶ ἀνεμόφθοροι ἀνεφύοντο ἐχόμενοι αὐτῶν
Gen 41:24 And the thin ears devoured the seven good ears: and I told this unto the magicians; but there was none that could declare it to me. (kjv) Gen 41:24 and the thin ears swallowed the seven good ears. Then I told it to the magicians, but there was no one who could explain it to me." Gen 41:25 And Joseph said unto Pharaoh, The dream of Pharaoh is one: God hath shewed Pharaoh what he is about to do. (kjv) Gen 41:25 Now Joseph said to Pharaoh, "Pharaoh's dreams are one and the same; God has told to Pharaoh what He is about to do. Gen|41|25|καὶ εἶπεν Ιωσηφ τῷ Φαραω τὸ ἐνύπνιον Φαραω ἕν ἐστιν ὅσα ὁ θεὸς ποιεῖ ἔδειξεν τῷ Φαραω
Gen 41:26 The seven good kine are seven years; and the seven good ears are seven years: the dream is one. (kjv) Gen 41:26 The seven good cows are seven years; and the seven good ears are seven years; the dreams are one and the same. Gen 41:27 And the seven thin and ill favoured kine that came up after them are seven years; and the seven empty ears blasted with the east wind shall be seven years of famine. (kjv) Gen 41:27 The seven lean and ugly cows that came up after them are seven years, and the seven thin ears scorched by the east wind will be seven years of famine. Gen 41:28 This is the thing which I have spoken unto Pharaoh: What God is about to do he sheweth unto Pharaoh. (kjv) Gen 41:28 It is as I have spoken to Pharaoh: God has shown to Pharaoh what He is about to do. Gen|41|28|τὸ δὲ ῥῆμα ὃ εἴρηκα Φαραω ὅσα ὁ θεὸς ποιεῖ ἔδειξεν τῷ Φαραω
Gen 41:29 Behold, there come seven years of great plenty throughout all the land of Egypt: (kjv) Gen 41:29 Behold, seven years of great abundance are coming in all the land of Egypt; Gen|41|29|ἰδοὺ ἑπτὰ ἔτη ἔρχεται εὐθηνία πολλὴ ἐν πάσῃ γῇ Αἰγύπτῳ
Gen 41:30 And there shall arise after them seven years of famine; and all the plenty shall be forgotten in the land of Egypt; and the famine shall consume the land; (kjv) Gen 41:30 and after them seven years of famine will come, and all the abundance will be forgotten in the land of Egypt, and the famine will ravage the land. Gen|41|30|ἥξει δὲ ἑπτὰ ἔτη λιμοῦ μετὰ ταῦτα καὶ ἐπιλήσονται τῆς πλησμονῆς ἐν ὅλῃ γῇ Αἰγύπτῳ καὶ ἀναλώσει ὁ λιμὸς τὴν γῆν
Gen 41:31 And the plenty shall not be known in the land by reason of that famine following; for it shall be very grievous. (kjv) Gen 41:31 So the abundance will be unknown in the land because of that subsequent famine; for it will be very severe. Gen|41|31|καὶ οὐκ ἐπιγνωσθήσεται ἡ εὐθηνία ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς ἀπὸ τοῦ λιμοῦ τοῦ ἐσομένου μετὰ ταῦτα ἰσχυρὸς γὰρ ἔσται σφόδρα
Gen 41:32 And for that the dream was doubled unto Pharaoh twice; it is because the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass. (kjv) Gen 41:32 Now as for the repeating of the dream to Pharaoh twice, it means that the matter is determined by God, and God will quickly bring it about. Gen|41|32|περὶ δὲ τοῦ δευτερῶσαι τὸ ἐνύπνιον Φαραω δίς ὅτι ἀληθὲς ἔσται τὸ ῥῆμα τὸ παρὰ τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ ταχυνεῖ ὁ θεὸς τοῦ ποιῆσαι αὐτό
Gen 41:33 Now therefore let Pharaoh look out a man discreet and wise, and set him over the land of Egypt. (kjv) Gen 41:33 Now let Pharaoh look for a man discerning and wise, and set him over the land of Egypt. Gen|41|33|νῦν οὖν σκέψαι ἄνθρωπον φρόνιμον καὶ συνετὸν καὶ κατάστησον αὐτὸν ἐπὶ γῆς Αἰγύπτου
Gen 41:34 Let Pharaoh do this, and let him appoint officers over the land, and take up the fifth part of the land of Egypt in the seven plenteous years. (kjv) Gen 41:34 Let Pharaoh take action to appoint overseers in charge of the land, and let him exact a fifth of the produce of the land of Egypt in the seven years of abundance. Gen|41|34|καὶ ποιησάτω Φαραω καὶ καταστησάτω τοπάρχας ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς καὶ ἀποπεμπτωσάτωσαν πάντα τὰ γενήματα τῆς γῆς Αἰγύπτου τῶν ἑπτὰ ἐτῶν τῆς εὐθηνίας
Gen 41:35 And let them gather all the food of those good years that come, and lay up corn under the hand of Pharaoh, and let them keep food in the cities. (kjv) Gen 41:35 Then let them gather all the food of these good years that are coming, and store up the grain for food in the cities under Pharaoh's authority, and let them guard it. Gen|41|35|καὶ συναγαγέτωσαν πάντα τὰ βρώματα τῶν ἑπτὰ ἐτῶν τῶν ἐρχομένων τῶν καλῶν τούτων καὶ συναχθήτω ὁ σῖτος ὑπὸ χεῖρα Φαραω βρώματα ἐν ταῖς πόλεσιν φυλαχθήτω
Gen 41:36 And that food shall be for store to the land against the seven years of famine, which shall be in the land of Egypt; that the land perish not through the famine. (kjv) Gen 41:36 Let the food become as a reserve for the land for the seven years of famine which will occur in the land of Egypt, so that the land will not perish during the famine." Gen|41|36|καὶ ἔσται τὰ βρώματα πεφυλαγμένα τῇ γῇ εἰς τὰ ἑπτὰ ἔτη τοῦ λιμοῦ ἃ ἔσονται ἐν γῇ Αἰγύπτῳ καὶ οὐκ ἐκτριβήσεται ἡ γῆ ἐν τῷ λιμῷ
Gen 41:37 And the thing was good in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of all his servants. (kjv) Gen 41:37 Now the proposal seemed good to Pharaoh and to all his servants. Gen|41|37|ἤρεσεν δὲ τὰ ῥήματα ἐναντίον Φαραω καὶ ἐναντίον πάντων τῶν παίδων αὐτοῦ
Gen 41:38 And Pharaoh said unto his servants, Can we find such a one as this is, a man in whom the Spirit of God is? (kjv) Gen 41:38 Then Pharaoh said to his servants, "Can we find a man like this, in whom is a divine spirit?" Gen|41|38|καὶ εἶπεν Φαραω πᾶσιν τοῖς παισὶν αὐτοῦ μὴ εὑρήσομεν ἄνθρωπον τοιοῦτον ὃς ἔχει πνεῦμα θεοῦ ἐν αὐτῷ
Gen 41:39 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Forasmuch as God hath shewed thee all this, there is none so discreet and wise as thou art: (kjv) Gen 41:39 So Pharaoh said to Joseph, "Since God has informed you of all this, there is no one so discerning and wise as you are. Gen 41:40 Thou shalt be over my house, and according unto thy word shall all my people be ruled: only in the throne will I be greater than thou. (kjv) Gen 41:40 You shall be over my house, and according to your command all my people shall do homage; only in the throne I will be greater than you." Gen 41:41 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, See, I have set thee over all the land of Egypt. (kjv) Gen 41:41 Pharaoh said to Joseph, "See, I have set you over all the land of Egypt." Gen|41|41|εἶπεν δὲ Φαραω τῷ Ιωσηφ ἰδοὺ καθίστημί σε σήμερον ἐπὶ πάσης γῆς Αἰγύπτου
Gen 41:42 And Pharaoh took off his ring from his hand, and put it upon Joseph's hand, and arrayed him in vestures of fine linen, and put a gold chain about his neck; (kjv) Gen 41:42 Then Pharaoh took off his signet ring from his hand and put it on Joseph's hand, and clothed him in garments of fine linen and put the gold necklace around his neck. Gen 41:43 And he made him to ride in the second chariot which he had; and they cried before him, Bow the knee: and he made him ruler over all the land of Egypt. (kjv) Gen 41:43 He had him ride in his second chariot; and they proclaimed before him, "Bow the knee!" And he set him over all the land of Egypt. Gen 41:44 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I am Pharaoh, and without thee shall no man lift up his hand or foot in all the land of Egypt. (kjv) Gen 41:44 Moreover, Pharaoh said to Joseph, "Though I am Pharaoh, yet without your permission no one shall raise his hand or foot in all the land of Egypt." Gen 41:45 And Pharaoh called Joseph's name Zaphnathpaaneah; and he gave him to wife Asenath the daughter of Potipherah priest of On. And Joseph went out over all the land of Egypt. (kjv) Gen 41:45 Then Pharaoh named Joseph Zaphenath-paneah; and he gave him Asenath, the daughter of Potiphera priest of On, as his wife. And Joseph went forth over the land of Egypt. Gen 41:46 And Joseph was thirty years old when he stood before Pharaoh king of Egypt. And Joseph went out from the presence of Pharaoh, and went throughout all the land of Egypt. Gen 41:47 And in the seven plenteous years the earth brought forth by handfuls. (kjv) Gen 41:47 During the seven years of plenty the land brought forth abundantly. Gen|41|47|καὶ ἐποίησεν ἡ γῆ ἐν τοῖς ἑπτὰ ἔτεσιν τῆς εὐθηνίας δράγματα
Gen 41:48 And he gathered up all the food of the seven years, which were in the land of Egypt, and laid up the food in the cities: the food of the field, which was round about every city, laid he up in the same. (kjv) Gen 41:48 So he gathered all the food of these seven years which occurred in the land of Egypt and placed the food in the cities; he placed in every city the food from its own surrounding fields. Gen 41:49 And Joseph gathered corn as the sand of the sea, very much, until he left numbering; for it was without number. (kjv) Gen 41:49 Thus Joseph stored up grain in great abundance like the sand of the sea, until he stopped measuring it, for it was beyond measure. Gen 41:51 And Joseph called the name of the firstborn Manasseh: For God, said he, hath made me forget all my toil, and all my father's house. (kjv) Gen 41:51 Joseph named the firstborn Manasseh, "For," he said, "God has made me forget all my trouble and all my father's household." Gen 41:52 And the name of the second called he Ephraim: For God hath caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction. (kjv) Gen 41:52 He named the second Ephraim, "For," he said, "God has made me fruitful in the land of my affliction." Gen 41:53 And the seven years of plenteousness, that was in the land of Egypt, were ended. (kjv) Gen 41:53 When the seven years of plenty which had been in the land of Egypt came to an end, Gen|41|53|παρῆλθον δὲ τὰ ἑπτὰ ἔτη τῆς εὐθηνίας ἃ ἐγένοντο ἐν γῇ Αἰγύπτῳ
Gen 41:54 And the seven years of dearth began to come, according as Joseph had said: and the dearth was in all lands; but in all the land of Egypt there was bread. (kjv) Gen 41:54 and the seven years of famine began to come, just as Joseph had said, then there was famine in all the lands, but in all the land of Egypt there was bread. Gen 41:55 And when all the land of Egypt was famished, the people cried to Pharaoh for bread: and Pharaoh said unto all the Egyptians, Go unto Joseph; what he saith to you, do. (kjv) Gen 41:55 So when all the land of Egypt was famished, the people cried out to Pharaoh for bread; and Pharaoh said to all the Egyptians, "Go to Joseph; whatever he says to you, you shall do." Gen 41:56 And the famine was over all the face of the earth: and Joseph opened all the storehouses, and sold unto the Egyptians; and the famine waxed sore in the land of Egypt. (kjv) Gen 41:56 When the famine was spread over all the face of the earth, then Joseph opened all the storehouses, and sold to the Egyptians; and the famine was severe in the land of Egypt. Gen 41:57 And all countries came into Egypt to Joseph for to buy corn; because that the famine was so sore in all lands.(kjv) Gen 41:57 The people of all the earth came to Egypt to buy grain from Joseph, because the famine was severe in all the earth.
