Day - 154 - Job 35-38
Job 31:1 I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid? Job 31:1 "I have made a covenant with my eyes; How then could I gaze at a virgin? Job|31|1|διαθήκην ἐθέμην τοῖς ὀφθαλμοῖς μου καὶ οὐ συνήσω ἐπὶ παρθένον
Job 31:2 For what portion of God is there from above? and what inheritance of the Almighty from on high? Job 31:2 "And what is the portion of God from above Or the heritage of the Almighty from on high? Job|31|2|καὶ τί ἐμέρισεν ὁ θεὸς ἀπάνωθεν καὶ κληρονομία ἱκανοῦ ἐξ ὑψίστων
Job 31:3 Is not destruction to the wicked? and a strange punishment to the workers of iniquity? Job 31:3 "Is it not calamity to the unjust And disaster to those who work iniquity? Job|31|3|οὐχὶ ἀπώλεια τῷ ἀδίκῳ καὶ ἀπαλλοτρίωσις τοῖς ποιοῦσιν ἀνομίαν

Job 31:6 Let me be weighed in an even balance that God may know mine integrity. Job 31:6 Let Him weigh me with accurate scales, And let God know my integrity. Job|31|6|ἱσταίη με ἄρα ἐν ζυγῷ δικαίῳ οἶδεν δὲ ὁ κύριος τὴν ἀκακίαν μου

Job 31:10 Then let my wife grind unto another, and let others bow down upon her. Job 31:10 May my wife grind for another, And let others kneel down over her. Job|31|10|ἀρέσαι ἄρα καὶ ἡ γυνή μου ἑτέρῳ τὰ δὲ νήπιά μου ταπεινωθείη
Job 31:11 For this is an heinous crime; yea, it is an iniquity to be punished by the judges. Job 31:11 "For that would be a lustful crime; Moreover, it would be an iniquity punishable by judges. Job|31|11|θυμὸς γὰρ ὀργῆς ἀκατάσχετος τὸ μιᾶναι ἀνδρὸς γυναῖκα

Job 31:14 What then shall I do when God riseth up? and when he visiteth, what shall I answer him? Job 31:14 What then could I do when God arises? Job 31:15 Did not he that made me in the womb make him? and did not one fashion us in the womb? Job 31:15 "Did not He who made me in the womb make him, And the same one fashion us in the womb? Job|31|15|πότερον οὐχ ὡς καὶ ἐγὼ ἐγενόμην ἐν γαστρί καὶ ἐκεῖνοι γεγόνασιν γεγόναμεν δὲ ἐν τῇ αὐτῇ κοιλίᾳ
Job 31:16 If I have withheld the poor from their desire, or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail; Job 31:16 "If I have kept the poor from their desire, Or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail, Job|31|16|ἀδύνατοι δὲ χρείαν ἥν ποτ᾽ εἶχον οὐκ ἀπέτυχον χήρας δὲ τὸν ὀφθαλμὸν οὐκ ἐξέτηξα
Job 31:17 Or have eaten my morsel myself alone, and the fatherless hath not eaten thereof; Job 31:17 Or have eaten my morsel alone, And the orphan has not shared it Job|31|17|εἰ δὲ καὶ τὸν ψωμόν μου ἔφαγον μόνος καὶ οὐχὶ ὀρφανῷ μετέδωκα
Job 31:18 (For from my youth he was brought up with me, as with a father, and I have guided her from my mother's womb;) Job 31:18 ( But from my youth he grew up with me as with a father, And from infancy I guided her), Job|31|18|ὅτι ἐκ νεότητός μου ἐξέτρεφον ὡς πατὴρ καὶ ἐκ γαστρὸς μητρός μου ὡδήγησα
Job 31:19 If I have seen any perish for want of clothing, or any poor without covering; Job 31:19 If I have seen anyone perish for lack of clothing, Or that the needy had no covering, Job|31|19|εἰ δὲ καὶ ὑπερεῖδον γυμνὸν ἀπολλύμενον καὶ οὐκ ἠμφίασα
Job 31:20 If his loins have not blessed me, and if he were not warmed with the fleece of my sheep; Job 31:20 If his loins have not thanked me, And if he has not been warmed with the fleece of my sheep, Job|31|20|ἀδύνατοι δὲ εἰ μὴ εὐλόγησάν με ἀπὸ δὲ κουρᾶς ἀμνῶν μου ἐθερμάνθησαν οἱ ὦμοι αὐτῶν
Job 31:21 If I have lifted up my hand against the fatherless, when I saw my help in the gate: Job 31:21 If I have lifted up my hand against the orphan, Because I saw I had support in the gate, Job|31|21|εἰ ἐπῆρα ὀρφανῷ χεῖρα πεποιθὼς ὅτι πολλή μοι βοήθεια περίεστιν
Job 31:22 Then let mine arm fall from my shoulder blade, and mine arm be broken from the bone. Job 31:22 Let my shoulder fall from the socket, And my arm be broken off at the elbow. Job|31|22|ἀποσταίη ἄρα ὁ ὦμός μου ἀπὸ τῆς κλειδός ὁ δὲ βραχίων μου ἀπὸ τοῦ ἀγκῶνός μου συντριβείη
Job 31:23 For destruction from God was a terror to me, and by reason of his highness I could not endure. Job 31:23 "For calamity from God is a terror to me, And because of His majesty I can do nothing. Job|31|23|φόβος γὰρ κυρίου συνέσχεν με καὶ ἀπὸ τοῦ λήμματος αὐτοῦ οὐχ ὑποίσω
Job 31:24 If I have made gold my hope, or have said to the fine gold, Thou art my confidence; Job 31:24 "If I have put my confidence in gold, And called fine gold my trust, Job|31|24|εἰ ἔταξα χρυσίον ἰσχύν μου εἰ δὲ καὶ λίθῳ πολυτελεῖ ἐπεποίθησα
Job 31:25 If I rejoice because my wealth was great, and because mine hand had gotten much; Job 31:25 If I have gloated because my wealth was great, And because my hand had secured so much; Job|31|25|εἰ δὲ καὶ εὐφράνθην πολλοῦ πλούτου μοι γενομένου εἰ δὲ καὶ ἐπ᾽ ἀναριθμήτοις ἐθέμην χεῖρά μου
Job 31:26 If I beheld the sun when it shined, or the moon walking in brightness; Job 31:26 If I have looked at the sun when it shone Or the moon going in splendor, Job|31|26|ἦ οὐχ ὁρῶ μὲν ἥλιον τὸν ἐπιφαύσκοντα ἐκλείποντα σελήνην δὲ φθίνουσαν οὐ γὰρ ἐπ᾽ αὐτοῖς ἐστιν
Job 31:27 And my heart hath been secretly enticed, or my mouth hath kissed my hand: Job 31:27 And my heart became secretly enticed, And my hand threw a kiss from my mouth, Job|31|27|καὶ εἰ ἠπατήθη λάθρᾳ ἡ καρδία μου εἰ δὲ καὶ χεῖρά μου ἐπιθεὶς ἐπὶ στόματί μου ἐφίλησα
Job 31:28 This also were an iniquity to be punished by the judge: for I should have denied the God that is above. Job 31:28 That too would have been an iniquity calling for judgment, For I would have denied God above. Job|31|28|καὶ τοῦτό μοι ἄρα ἀνομία ἡ μεγίστη λογισθείη ὅτι ἐψευσάμην ἐναντίον κυρίου τοῦ ὑψίστου
Job 31:29 If I rejoice at the destruction of him that hated me, or lifted up myself when evil found him: Job 31:29 "Have I rejoiced at the extinction of my enemy, Or exulted when evil befell him? Job|31|29|εἰ δὲ καὶ ἐπιχαρὴς ἐγενόμην πτώματι ἐχθρῶν μου καὶ εἶπεν ἡ καρδία μου εὖγε
Job 31:30 Neither have I suffered my mouth to sin by wishing a curse to his soul. Job 31:30 "No, I have not allowed my mouth to sin By asking for his life in a curse. Job|31|30|ἀκούσαι ἄρα τὸ οὖς μου τὴν κατάραν μου θρυληθείην δὲ ἄρα ὑπὸ λαοῦ μου κακούμενος
Job 31:31 If the men of my tabernacle said not, Oh that we had of his flesh! we cannot be satisfied. Job 31:31 "Have the men of my tent not said, 'Who can find one who has not been satisfied with his meat'? Job|31|31|εἰ δὲ καὶ πολλάκις εἶπον αἱ θεράπαιναί μου τίς ἂν δῴη ἡμῖν τῶν σαρκῶν αὐτοῦ πλησθῆναι λίαν μου χρηστοῦ ὄντος
Job 31:32 The stranger did not lodge in the street: but I opened my doors to the traveller. Job 31:32 "The alien has not lodged outside, For I have opened my doors to the traveler. Job|31|32|ἔξω δὲ οὐκ ηὐλίζετο ξένος ἡ δὲ θύρα μου παντὶ ἐλθόντι ἀνέῳκτο
Job 31:33 If I covered my transgressions as Adam, by hiding mine iniquity in my bosom: Job 31:33 "Have I covered my transgressions like Adam, By hiding my iniquity in my bosom, Job|31|33|εἰ δὲ καὶ ἁμαρτὼν ἀκουσίως ἔκρυψα τὴν ἁμαρτίαν μου
Job 31:34 Did I fear a great multitude, or did the contempt of families terrify me, that I kept silence, and went not out of the door? Job 31:34 Because I feared the great multitude, And the contempt of families terrified me, And kept silent and did not go out of doors? Job|31|34|οὐ γὰρ διετράπην πολυοχλίαν πλήθους τοῦ μὴ ἐξαγορεῦσαι ἐνώπιον αὐτῶν εἰ δὲ καὶ εἴασα ἀδύνατον ἐξελθεῖν θύραν μου κόλπῳ κενῷ
Job 31:35 Oh that one would hear me! behold, my desire is, that the Almighty would answer me, and that mine adversary had written a book. Job 31:35 "Oh that I had one to hear me! Behold, here is my signature; Let the Almighty answer me! And the indictment which my adversary has written, Job|31|35|τίς δῴη ἀκούοντά μου χεῖρα δὲ κυρίου εἰ μὴ ἐδεδοίκειν συγγραφὴν δέ ἣν εἶχον κατά τινος
Job 31:36 Surely I would take it upon my shoulder, and bind it as a crown to me. Job 31:36 Surely I would carry it on my shoulder, I would bind it to myself like a crown. Job|31|36|ἐπ᾽ ὤμοις ἂν περιθέμενος στέφανον ἀνεγίνωσκον
Job 31:37 I would declare unto him the number of my steps; as a prince would I go near unto him. Job 31:37 "I would declare to Him the number of my steps; Like a prince I would approach Him. Job|31|37|καὶ εἰ μὴ ῥήξας αὐτὴν ἀπέδωκα οὐθὲν λαβὼν παρὰ χρεοφειλέτου
Job 31:38 If my land cry against me, or that the furrows likewise thereof complain; Job 31:38 "If my land cries out against me, And its furrows weep together; Job|31|38|εἰ ἐπ᾽ ἐμοί ποτε ἡ γῆ ἐστέναξεν εἰ δὲ καὶ οἱ αὔλακες αὐτῆς ἔκλαυσαν ὁμοθυμαδόν
Job 31:39 If I have eaten the fruits thereof without money, or have caused the owners thereof to lose their life: Job 31:39 If I have eaten its fruit without money, Or have caused its owners to lose their lives, Job|31|39|εἰ δὲ καὶ τὴν ἰσχὺν αὐτῆς ἔφαγον μόνος ἄνευ τιμῆς εἰ δὲ καὶ ψυχὴν κυρίου τῆς γῆς ἐκβαλὼν ἐλύπησα

Job 32:2 Then was kindled the wrath of Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite, of the kindred of Ram: against Job was his wrath kindled, because he justified himself rather than God. Job 32:2 But the anger of Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite, of the family of Ram burned; against Job his anger burned because he justified himself before God. Job 32:3 Also against his three friends was his wrath kindled, because they had found no answer, and yet had condemned Job. Job 32:4 Now Elihu had waited till Job had spoken, because they were elder than he. Job 32:4 Now Elihu had waited to speak to Job because they were years older than he. Job|32|4|Ελιους δὲ ὑπέμεινεν δοῦναι ἀπόκρισιν Ιωβ ὅτι πρεσβύτεροι αὐτοῦ εἰσιν ἡμέραις
Job 32:5 When Elihu saw that there was no answer in the mouth of these three men, then his wrath was kindled. Job 32:6 And Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite answered and said, I am young, and ye are very old; wherefore I was afraid, and durst not shew you mine opinion. Job 32:6 So Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite spoke out and said, "I am young in years and you are old; Therefore I was shy and afraid to tell you what I think. Job 32:7 I said, Days should speak, and multitude of years should teach wisdom. Job 32:7 "I thought age should speak, And increased years should teach wisdom. Job|32|7|εἶπα δὲ ὅτι ὁ χρόνος ἐστὶν ὁ λαλῶν ἐν πολλοῖς δὲ ἔτεσιν οἴδασιν σοφίαν
Job 32:8 But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding. Job 32:8 "But it is a spirit in man, And the breath of the Almighty gives them understanding. Job|32|8|ἀλλὰ πνεῦμά ἐστιν ἐν βροτοῖς πνοὴ δὲ παντοκράτορός ἐστιν ἡ διδάσκουσα
Job 32:9 Great men are not always wise: neither do the aged understand judgment. Job 32:9 "The abundant in years may not be wise, Nor may elders understand justice. Job|32|9|οὐχ οἱ πολυχρόνιοί εἰσιν σοφοί οὐδ᾽ οἱ γέροντες οἴδασιν κρίμα
Job 32:10 Therefore I said, Hearken to me; I also will shew mine opinion. Job 32:10 "So I say, 'Listen to me, I too will tell what I think.' Job|32|10|διὸ εἶπα ἀκούσατέ μου καὶ ἀναγγελῶ ὑμῖν ἃ οἶδα
Job 32:11 Behold, I waited for your words; I gave ear to your reasons, whilst ye searched out what to say. Job 32:11 "Behold, I waited for your words, I listened to your reasonings, While you pondered what to say. Job|32|11|ἐνωτίζεσθέ μου τὰ ῥήματα ἐρῶ γὰρ ὑμῶν ἀκουόντων ἄχρι οὗ ἐτάσητε λόγους
Job 32:12 Yea, I attended unto you, and, behold, there was none of you that convinced Job, or that answered his words: Job 32:12 "I even paid close attention to you; Indeed, there was no one who refuted Job, Not one of you who answered his words. Job|32|12|καὶ μέχρι ὑμῶν συνήσω καὶ ἰδοὺ οὐκ ἦν τῷ Ιωβ ἐλέγχων ἀνταποκρινόμενος ῥήματα αὐτοῦ ἐξ ὑμῶν
Job 32:13 Lest ye should say, We have found out wisdom: God thrusteth him down, not man. Job 32:13 "Do not say, 'We have found wisdom; God will rout him, not man.' Job|32|13|ἵνα μὴ εἴπητε εὕρομεν σοφίαν κυρίῳ προσθέμενοι
Job 32:14 Now he hath not directed his words against me: neither will I answer him with your speeches. Job 32:14 "For he has not arranged his words against me, Nor will I reply to him with your arguments. Job|32|14|ἀνθρώπῳ δὲ ἐπετρέψατε λαλῆσαι τοιαῦτα ῥήματα
Job 32:15 They were amazed, they answered no more: they left off speaking. Job 32:15 "They are dismayed, they no longer answer; Words have failed them. Job|32|15|ἐπτοήθησαν οὐκ ἀπεκρίθησαν ἔτι ἐπαλαίωσαν ἐξ αὐτῶν λόγους
Job 32:16 When I had waited, (for they spake not, but stood still, and answered no more;) Job 32:16 "Shall I wait, because they do not speak, Because they stop and no longer answer? Job|32|16|ὑπέμεινα οὐ γὰρ ἐλάλησαν ὅτι ἔστησαν οὐκ ἀπεκρίθησαν
Job 32:17 I said, I will answer also my part, I also will shew mine opinion. Job 32:17 "I too will answer my share, I also will tell my opinion. Job|32|17|ὑπολαβὼν δὲ Ελιους λέγει
Job 32:18 For I am full of matter, the spirit within me constraineth me. Job 32:18 "For I am full of words; The spirit within me constrains me. Job|32|18|πάλιν λαλήσω πλήρης γάρ εἰμι ῥημάτων ὀλέκει γάρ με τὸ πνεῦμα τῆς γαστρός
Job 32:19 Behold, my belly is as wine which hath no vent; it is ready to burst like new bottles. Job 32:19 "Behold, my belly is like unvented wine, Like new wineskins it is about to burst. Job|32|19|ἡ δὲ γαστήρ μου ὥσπερ ἀσκὸς γλεύκους ζέων δεδεμένος ἢ ὥσπερ φυσητὴρ χαλκέως ἐρρηγώς
Job 32:20 I will speak, that I may be refreshed: I will open my lips and answer. Job 32:20 "Let me speak that I may get relief; Let me open my lips and answer. Job|32|20|λαλήσω ἵνα ἀναπαύσωμαι ἀνοίξας τὰ χείλη
Job 32:21 Let me not, I pray you, accept any man's person, neither let me give flattering titles unto man. Job 32:21 "Let me now be partial to no one, Nor flatter any man. Job|32|21|ἄνθρωπον γὰρ οὐ μὴ αἰσχυνθῶ ἀλλὰ μὴν οὐδὲ βροτὸν οὐ μὴ ἐντραπῶ
Job 32:22 For I know not to give flattering titles; in so doing my maker would soon take me away. Job 32:22 "For I do not know how to flatter, Else my Maker would soon take me away. Job|32|22|οὐ γὰρ ἐπίσταμαι θαυμάσαι πρόσωπον εἰ δὲ μή καὶ ἐμὲ σῆτες ἔδονται
Job 33:1 Wherefore, Job, I pray thee, hear my speeches, and hearken to all my words. Job 33:1 "However now, Job, please hear my speech, And listen to all my words. Job|33|1|οὐ μὴν δὲ ἀλλὰ ἄκουσον Ιωβ τὰ ῥήματά μου καὶ λαλιὰν ἐνωτίζου μου
Job 33:2 Behold, now I have opened my mouth, my tongue hath spoken in my mouth. Job 33:2 "Behold now, I open my mouth, My tongue in my mouth speaks. Job|33|2|ἰδοὺ γὰρ ἤνοιξα τὸ στόμα μου καὶ ἐλάλησεν ἡ γλῶσσά μου
Job 33:3 My words shall be of the uprightness of my heart: and my lips shall utter knowledge clearly. Job 33:3 "My words are from the uprightness of my heart, And my lips speak knowledge sincerely. Job|33|3|καθαρά μου ἡ καρδία ῥήμασιν σύνεσις δὲ χειλέων μου καθαρὰ νοήσει
