Day - 343 - Ephesians 4-6
Eph 4:1 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, Eph 4:1 Therefore I, the prisoner of the Lord, implore you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called, Eph|4|1|παρακαλῶ οὗν ὑμᾶς ἐγὼ ὁ δέσμιος ἐν κυρίῳ ἀξίως περιπατῆσαι τῆς κλήσεως ἧς ἐκλήθητε,
Eph 4:2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; Eph 4:2 with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in love, Eph|4|2|μετὰ πάσης ταπεινοφροσύνης καὶ πραΰτητος, μετὰ μακροθυμίας, ἀνεχόμενοι ἀλλήλων ἐν ἀγάπῃ,
Eph 4:3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. Eph 4:3 being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
Eph 4:4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; Eph 4:4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; Eph|4|4|ἓν σῶμα καὶ ἓν πνεῦμα, καθὼς καὶ ἐκλήθητε ἐν μιᾷ ἐλπίδι τῆς κλήσεως ὑμῶν·
Eph 4:5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism, Eph 4:5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism, Eph|4|5|εἷς κύριος, μία πίστις, ἓν βάπτισμα·
Eph 4:6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. Eph 4:6 one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all.
Eph 4:7 But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. Eph 4:7 But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ's gift.
Eph 4:8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. Eph 4:8 Therefore it says," When He ascended on high, He led captive a host of captives, And He gave gifts to men."
Eph 4:9 (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? Eph 4:9 ( Now this expression," He ascended," what does it mean except that He also had descended into the lower parts of the earth? Eph|4|9|τὸ δὲ ἀνέβη τί ἐστιν εἰ μὴ ὅτι καὶ κατέβη εἰς τὰ κατώτερα [μέρη] τῆς γῆς;
Eph 4:10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.) Eph 4:10 He who descended is Himself also He who ascended far above all the heavens, so that He might fill all things.
Eph 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; Eph 4:11 And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, Eph|4|11|καὶ αὐτὸς ἔδωκεν τοὺς μὲν ἀποστόλους, τοὺς δὲ προφήτας, τοὺς δὲ εὐαγγελιστάς, τοὺς δὲ ποιμένας καὶ διδασκάλους,
Eph 4:12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Eph 4:12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; Eph|4|12|πρὸς τὸν καταρτισμὸν τῶν ἁγίων εἰς ἔργον διακονίας, εἰς οἰκοδομὴν τοῦ σώματος τοῦ χριστοῦ,
Eph 4:13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: Eph 4:13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ.
Eph 4:14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; Eph 4:14 As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming; Eph|4|14|ἵνα μηκέτι ὦμεν νήπιοι, κλυδωνιζόμενοι καὶ περιφερόμενοι παντὶ ἀνέμῳ τῆς διδασκαλίας ἐν τῇ κυβείᾳ τῶν ἀνθρώπων ἐν πανουργίᾳ πρὸς τὴν μεθοδείαν τῆς πλάνης,
Eph 4:15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: Eph 4:15 but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ, Eph|4|15|ἀληθεύοντες δὲ ἐν ἀγάπῃ αὐξήσωμεν εἰς αὐτὸν τὰ πάντα, ὅς ἐστιν ἡ κεφαλή, χριστός,
Eph 4:16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love. Eph 4:16 from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love.
Eph 4:17 This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, Eph 4:17 So this I say, and affirm together with the Lord, that you walk no longer just as the Gentiles also walk, in the futility of their mind, Eph|4|17|τοῦτο οὗν λέγω καὶ μαρτύρομαι ἐν κυρίῳ, μηκέτι ὑμᾶς περιπατεῖν καθὼς καὶ τὰ ἔθνη περιπατεῖ ἐν ματαιότητι τοῦ νοὸς αὐτῶν,
Eph 4:18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: Eph 4:18 being darkened in their understanding, excluded from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardness of their heart; Eph|4|18|ἐσκοτωμένοι τῇ διανοίᾳ ὄντες, ἀπηλλοτριωμένοι τῆς ζωῆς τοῦ θεοῦ, διὰ τὴν ἄγνοιαν τὴν οὗσαν ἐν αὐτοῖς, διὰ τὴν πώρωσιν τῆς καρδίας αὐτῶν,
Eph 4:19 Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. Eph 4:19 and they, having become callous, have given themselves over to sensuality for the practice of every kind of impurity with greediness.
Eph 4:20 But ye have not so learned Christ; Eph 4:20 But you did not learn Christ in this way, Eph|4|20|ὑμεῖς δὲ οὐχ οὕτως ἐμάθετε τὸν χριστόν,
Eph 4:21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: Eph 4:21 if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught in Him, just as truth is in Jesus, Eph|4|21|εἴ γε αὐτὸν ἠκούσατε καὶ ἐν αὐτῶ ἐδιδάχθητε, καθώς ἐστιν ἀλήθεια ἐν τῶ ἰησοῦ,
Eph 4:22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; Eph 4:22 that, in reference to your former manner of life, you lay aside the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit, Eph|4|22|ἀποθέσθαι ὑμᾶς κατὰ τὴν προτέραν ἀναστροφὴν τὸν παλαιὸν ἄνθρωπον τὸν φθειρόμενον κατὰ τὰς ἐπιθυμίας τῆς ἀπάτης,
Eph 4:23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; Eph 4:23 and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind, Eph|4|23|ἀνανεοῦσθαι δὲ τῶ πνεύματι τοῦ νοὸς ὑμῶν,
Eph 4:24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. Eph 4:24 and put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.
Eph 4:25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another. Eph 4:25 Therefore, laying aside falsehood, speak truth each one of you with his neighbor, for we are members of one another.
Eph 4:26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Eph 4:26 Be angry, and yet do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, Eph|4|26|ὀργίζεσθε καὶ μὴ ἁμαρτάνετε· ὁ ἥλιος μὴ ἐπιδυέτω ἐπὶ [τῶ] παροργισμῶ ὑμῶν,
Eph 4:27 Neither give place to the devil. Eph 4:27 and do not give the devil an opportunity.
Eph 4:28 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth. Eph 4:28 He who steals must steal no longer; but rather he must labor, performing with his own hands what is good, so that he will have something to share with one who has need.
Eph 4:29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. Eph 4:29 Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear.
Eph 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Eph 4:30 Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
Eph 4:31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: Eph 4:31 Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice.
Eph 4:32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you. Eph 4:32 Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.
Eph 5:1 Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; Eph 5:1 Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children; Eph|5|1|γίνεσθε οὗν μιμηταὶ τοῦ θεοῦ, ὡς τέκνα ἀγαπητά,
Eph 5:2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. Eph 5:2 and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.
Eph 5:3 But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; Eph 5:3 But immorality or any impurity or greed must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints; Eph|5|3|πορνεία δὲ καὶ ἀκαθαρσία πᾶσα ἢ πλεονεξία μηδὲ ὀνομαζέσθω ἐν ὑμῖν, καθὼς πρέπει ἁγίοις,
Eph 5:4 Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. Eph 5:4 and there must be no filthiness and silly talk, or coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks.
Eph 5:5 For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Eph 5:5 For this you know with certainty, that no immoral or impure person or covetous man, who is an idolater, has an inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.
Eph 5:6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Eph 5:6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.
Eph 5:7 Be not ye therefore partakers with them. Eph 5:7 Therefore do not be partakers with them; Eph|5|7|μὴ οὗν γίνεσθε συμμέτοχοι αὐτῶν·
Eph 5:8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: Eph 5:8 for you were formerly darkness, but now you are Light in the Lord; walk as children of Light Eph|5|8|ἦτε γάρ ποτε σκότος, νῦν δὲ φῶς ἐν κυρίῳ· ὡς τέκνα φωτὸς περιπατεῖτε
Eph 5:9 (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) Eph 5:9 (for the fruit of the Light consists in all goodness and righteousness and truth), Eph|5|9|_ ὁ γὰρ καρπὸς τοῦ φωτὸς ἐν πάσῃ ἀγαθωσύνῃ καὶ δικαιοσύνῃ καὶ ἀληθείᾳ _
Eph 5:10 Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. Eph 5:10 trying to learn what is pleasing to the Lord.
Eph 5:11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. Eph 5:11 Do not participate in the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but instead even expose them; Eph|5|11|καὶ μὴ συγκοινωνεῖτε τοῖς ἔργοις τοῖς ἀκάρποις τοῦ σκότους, μᾶλλον δὲ καὶ ἐλέγχετε,
Eph 5:12 For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. Eph 5:12 for it is disgraceful even to speak of the things which are done by them in secret.
Eph 5:13 But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. Eph 5:13 But all things become visible when they are exposed by the light, for everything that becomes visible is light.
Eph 5:14 Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. Eph 5:14 For this reason it says," Awake, sleeper, And arise from the dead, And Christ will shine on you."
Eph 5:15 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Eph 5:15 Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, Eph|5|15|βλέπετε οὗν ἀκριβῶς πῶς περιπατεῖτε, μὴ ὡς ἄσοφοι ἀλλ᾽ ὡς σοφοί,
Eph 5:16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Eph 5:16 making the most of your time, because the days are evil.
Eph 5:17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. Eph 5:17 So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.
Eph 5:18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Eph 5:18 And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit, Eph|5|18|καὶ μὴ μεθύσκεσθε οἴνῳ, ἐν ᾧ ἐστιν ἀσωτία, ἀλλὰ πληροῦσθε ἐν πνεύματι,
Eph 5:19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Eph 5:19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord; Eph|5|19|λαλοῦντες ἑαυτοῖς [ἐν] ψαλμοῖς καὶ ὕμνοις καὶ ᾠδαῖς πνευματικαῖς, ᾄδοντες καὶ ψάλλοντες τῇ καρδίᾳ ὑμῶν τῶ κυρίῳ,
Eph 5:20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; Eph 5:20 always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father; Eph|5|20|εὐχαριστοῦντες πάντοτε ὑπὲρ πάντων ἐν ὀνόματι τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν ἰησοῦ χριστοῦ τῶ θεῶ καὶ πατρί,
Eph 5:21 Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God. Eph 5:21 and be subject to one another in the fear of Christ.
Eph 5:22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. Eph 5:22 Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord.
Eph 5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Eph 5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, He Himself being the Savior of the body.
Eph 5:24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. Eph 5:24 But as the church is subject to Christ, so also the wives ought to be to their husbands in everything.
Eph 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; Eph 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her, Eph|5|25|οἱ ἄνδρες, ἀγαπᾶτε τὰς γυναῖκας, καθὼς καὶ ὁ χριστὸς ἠγάπησεν τὴν ἐκκλησίαν καὶ ἑαυτὸν παρέδωκεν ὑπὲρ αὐτῆς,
Eph 5:26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, Eph 5:26 so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, Eph|5|26|ἵνα αὐτὴν ἁγιάσῃ καθαρίσας τῶ λουτρῶ τοῦ ὕδατος ἐν ῥήματι,
Eph 5:27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. Eph 5:27 that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy and blameless.
Eph 5:28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. Eph 5:28 So husbands ought also to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself; Eph|5|28|οὕτως ὀφείλουσιν [καὶ] οἱ ἄνδρες ἀγαπᾶν τὰς ἑαυτῶν γυναῖκας ὡς τὰ ἑαυτῶν σώματα.
Eph 5:29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: Eph 5:29 for no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ also does the church, Eph|5|29|οὐδεὶς γάρ ποτε τὴν ἑαυτοῦ σάρκα ἐμίσησεν, ἀλλὰ ἐκτρέφει καὶ θάλπει αὐτήν, καθὼς καὶ ὁ χριστὸς τὴν ἐκκλησίαν,
Eph 5:30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. Eph 5:30 because we are members of His body.
Eph 5:31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. Eph 5:31 For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and shall be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.
Eph 5:32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church. Eph 5:32 This mystery is great; but I am speaking with reference to Christ and the church.
Eph 5:33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband. Eph 5:33 Nevertheless, each individual among you also is to love his own wife even as himself, and the wife must see to it that she respects her husband.
Eph 6:1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Eph 6:1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
Eph 6:2 Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise; Eph 6:2 Honor your father and mother (which is the first commandment with a promise), Eph|6|2|τίμα τὸν πατέρα σου καὶ τὴν μητέρα, ἥτις ἐστὶν ἐντολὴ πρώτη ἐν ἐπαγγελίᾳ,
Eph 6:3 That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth. Eph 6:3 so that it may be well with you, and that you may live long on the earth. Eph|6|3|ἵνα εὗ σοι γένηται καὶ ἔσῃ μακροχρόνιος ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς.
Eph 6:4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Eph 6:4 Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
Eph 6:5 Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ; Eph 6:5 Slaves, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in the sincerity of your heart, as to Christ; Eph|6|5|οἱ δοῦλοι, ὑπακούετε τοῖς κατὰ σάρκα κυρίοις μετὰ φόβου καὶ τρόμου ἐν ἁπλότητι τῆς καρδίας ὑμῶν ὡς τῶ χριστῶ,
Eph 6:6 Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; Eph 6:6 not by way of eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart.
Eph 6:7 With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men: Eph 6:7 With good will render service, as to the Lord, and not to men, Eph|6|7|μετ᾽ εὐνοίας δουλεύοντες, ὡς τῶ κυρίῳ καὶ οὐκ ἀνθρώποις,
Eph 6:8 Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free. Eph 6:8 knowing that whatever good thing each one does, this he will receive back from the Lord, whether slave or free.
