(Hebrew) וַיִּקָּהֲלוּ אֵלָיו פְּרוּשִׁים וְסוֹפְרִים אֲחָדִים אֲשֶׁר בָּאוּ מִירוּשָׁלָיִם׃ א Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 7:1 The Pharisees and some of the scribes gathered around Him when they had come from Jerusalem,(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 7:2---- (Hebrew) וַיִּרְאוּ אֵת אֲחָדִים מִתַּלְמִידָיו אֹכְלִים לֶחֶם בְּיָדַיִם טְמֵאוֹת כִּי לֹא רָחָצוּ וַיּוֹכִיחוּ אֹתָם׃ ב Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 7:2 and had seen that some of His disciples were eating their bread with impure hands, that is, unwashed.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 7:3---- (Hebrew) כִּי הַפְּרוּשִׁים וְכָל־הַיְּהוּדִים לֹא יֹאכְלוּ לֶחֶם בִּלְתִּי אִם־יִרְחֲצוּ אֶת־יְדֵיהֶם עַד־הַפרק כִּי אֶת־קַבָּלַת הַזְּקֵנִים יִשְׁמֹרוּ׃ ג Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 7:3 (For the Pharisees and all the Jews do not eat unless they carefully wash their hands, thus observing the traditions of the elders;(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 7:4---- (Hebrew) וּבְבוֹאָם מִן־הַשּׁוּק לֹא יֹאכְלוּ בִּבְלִי רָחְצָה וְעוֹד רַבּוֹת קִבְּלוּ עֲלֵיהֶם לִשְׁמֹר כְּמוֹ טְבִילַת כֹּסוֹת וְכַדִּים וְכִיֹּרוֹת וּמִטּוֹת׃ ד Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 7:4 and when they come from the market place, they do not eat unless they cleanse themselves; and there are many other things which they have received in order to observe, such as the washing of cups and pitchers and copper pots. )(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 7:5---- (Hebrew) וַיִּשְׁאֲלוּ אֹתוֹ הַפְּרוּשִׁים וְהַסּוֹפְרִים לֵאמֹר מַדּוּעַ לֹא יִשְׁמְרוּ תַלְמִידֶיךָ אֶת־מְסֹרַת הַזְּקֵנִים כִּי הֵם אֹכְלִים לֶחֶם בְּלִי נְטִילַת יָדָיִם׃ ה Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 7:5 The Pharisees and the scribes asked Him, "Why do Your disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat their bread with impure hands?"(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 7:6---- (Hebrew) וַיֹּאמֶר אֲלֵיהֶם חַנְפֵי־לֵב הֵיטֵב נִבָּא עֲלֵיכֶם יְשַׁעְיָהוּ כַּכָּתוּב הָעָם הַזֶּה בִּשְׂפָתָיו כִּבְּדוּנִי וְלִבּוֹ רִחַק מִמֶּנִּי׃ ו Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 7:6 And He said to them, "Rightly did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written: 'THIS PEOPLE HONORS ME WITH THEIR LIPS, BUT THEIR HEART IS FAR AWAY FROM ME.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 7:7---- (Hebrew) וְתֹהוּ יִרְאָתָם אֹתִי מִצְוֹת אֲנָשִׁים מְלַמְּדִים׃ ז Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 7:7 'BUT IN VAIN DO THEY WORSHIP ME, TEACHING AS DOCTRINES THE PRECEPTS OF MEN.'(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 7:8---- (Hebrew) כִּי מִצְוֹת אֱלֹהִים עֲזַבְתֶּם וַתִּשְׁמְרוּ מְסֹרַת אֲנָשִׁים טְבִילַת כַּדִּים וְכֹסוֹת וְכָאֵלֶּה רַבּוֹת אַתֶּם עֹשִׂים׃ ח Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 7:8 Neglecting the commandment of God, you hold to the tradition of men."(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 7:9---- (Hebrew) וַיֹּאמֶר אֲלֵיהֶם הֵיטַבְתֶּם לִמְאֹס בְּמִצְוֹת אֱלֹהִים לְמַעַן תִּנְצְרוּ אֶת־קַבָּלַתְכֶם׃ ט Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 7:9 He was also saying to them, "You are experts at setting aside the commandment of God in order to keep your tradition.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 7:10---- (Hebrew) כִּי־מֹשֶׁה אָמַר כַּבֵּד אֶת־אָבִיךָ וְאֶת־אִמֶּךָ וּמְקַלֵּל אָבִיו וְאִמּוֹ מוֹת יוּמָת׃ י Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 7:10 For Moses said, 'HONOR YOUR FATHER AND YOUR MOTHER'; and, 'HE WHO SPEAKS EVIL OF FATHER OR MOTHER, IS TO BE PUT TO DEATH';(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 7:11---- (Hebrew) וְאַתֶּם אֹמְרִים אִישׁ כִּי־יֹאמַר לְאָבִיו אוֹ לְאִמּוֹ קָרְבָּן כָּל־הַנָּאָה אֲשֶׁר תֶּהְנֶה מִמֶּנּוּ הֲרֵי זֶה נֶדֶר׃ יא Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 7:11 but you say, 'If a man says to his father or his mother, whatever I have that would help you is Corban (that is to say, given to God), '(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 7:12---- (Hebrew) וְלֹא תִתְּנוּ לוֹ לַעֲשׂוֹת עוֹד מְאוּמָה לְאָבִיו וּלְאִמּוֹ׃ יב Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 7:12 you no longer permit him to do anything for his father or his mother;(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 7:13---- (Hebrew) וַתָּפֵרוּ אֶת־דְּבַר אֱלֹהִים מִפְּנֵי מְסֹרַתְכֶם אֲשֶׁר תִּמְסְרוּ אַתֶּם וְכֵן רַבּוֹת אַתֶּם עֹשִׂים׃ יג Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 7:13 thus invalidating the word of God by your tradition which you have handed down; Do you not understand that whatever goes into the man from outside cannot defile him,(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 7:19---- (Hebrew) כִּי לֹא־יָבֹא אֶל־לִבּוֹ כִּי אִם־אֶל־כְּרֵשׂוֹ וּמִשָּׁם יֵצֵא הַפַּרְשְׁדֹנָה אֲשֶׁר יְזַקֵּק כָּל־מָזוֹן׃ יט Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 7:19 because it does not go into his heart, but into his stomach, and is eliminated?" (Thus He declared all foods clean. )(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 7:20---- (Hebrew) וַיֹּאמַר אָכֵן הַיֹּצֵא מִתּוֹךְ הָאָדָם הוּא יְטַמְּאֶנּוּ׃ כ Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 7:20 And He was saying, "That which proceeds out of the man, that is what defiles the man.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 7:21---- (Hebrew) כִּי מִתּוֹךְ הָאָדָם מִתּוֹךְ לִבּוֹ יֵצְאוּ יִצְרֵי מַחֲשָׁבוֹת רָעוֹת זְנוּנִים גְּנֵבָה וָרָצַח׃ כא Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 7:21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed the evil thoughts, fornications, thefts, murders, adulteries,(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 7:22---- (Hebrew) נִאֻפִים אַהֲבַת בֶּצַע וָרֶשַׁע רְמִיָּה וְזִמָּה וְרָעַת־עַיִן גִּדּוּפִים גֵּאוּת וּנְבָלָה׃ כב Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 7:22 deeds of coveting and wickedness, as well as deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride and foolishness.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 7:23---- (Hebrew) כָּל־הָרָעוֹת הָאֵלֶּה מִתּוֹךְ הָאָדָם הֵן יֹצְאוֹת וּמְטַמְּאוֹת אֹתוֹ׃ כג Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 7:23 All these evil things proceed from within and defile the man."(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 7:24---- (Hebrew) וַיָּקָם וַיֵּלֶךְ מִשָּׁם אֶל־גְּבוּל צוֹר וְצִידוֹן וַיָּבֹא אֶל־אַחַד הַבָּתִּים וְלֹא אָבָה אֲשֶׁר יַכִּירֶנּוּ אִישׁ אַךְ לֹא יָכֹל לְהִסָּתֵר׃ כד Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 7:24 Jesus got up and went away from there to the region of Tyre. And when He had entered a house, He wanted no one to know of it; yet He could not escape notice.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 7:25---- (Hebrew) כִּי אִשָּׁה אֲשֶׁר בִּתָּהּ הַיַּלְדָּה רוּחַ טֻמְאָה מְבַעִתָּהּ שָׁמְעָה עָלָיו וַתְּמַהֵר וַתָּבֹא וַתִּפֹּל לְרַגְלָיו׃ כה Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 7:25 But after hearing of Him, a woman whose little daughter had an unclean spirit immediately came and fell at His feet.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 7:26---- (Hebrew) וְהָאִשָּׁה יְוָנִית וּמוֹלַדְתָּהּ אֲרַם־צֹר וַתְּבַקְשֵׁהוּ לְהַרְחִיק אֶת־הָרוּחַ הָרָעָה מִקֶּרֶב בִּתָּהּ׃ כו Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 7:26 Now the woman was a Gentile, of the Syrophoenician race. And she kept asking Him to cast the demon out of her daughter.(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 7:27---- (Hebrew) וַיֹּאמֶר אֵלֶיהָ יֵשׁוּעַ נָתוֹן לַבָּנִים לִשְׂבֹּעַ רִאשׁוֹנָה כִּי לֹא־נָכוֹן לָקַחַת אֶת־לֶחֶם הַבָּנִים וּלְהַשְׁלִיכוֹ לִפְנֵי הַכְּלָבִים׃ כז Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 7:27 And He was saying to her, "Let the children be satisfied first, for it is not good to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs."(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 7:28---- (Hebrew) וַתַּעַן וַתֹּאמֶר אֵלָיו כֵּן אֲדֹנִי אֶפֶס גַּם־הַכְּלָבִים יֹאכְלוּ תַּחַת הַשֻּׁלְחָן מִפְּתוֹתֵי לֶחֶם הַבָּנִים׃ כח Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 7:28 But she answered and said to Him, "Yes, Lord, but even the dogs under the table feed on the children's crumbs."(NASB-1995) ================================================================================ ---- Mark 7:29---- (Hebrew) וַיֹּאמֶר אֵלֶיהָ יַעַן כָּזֹאת דִּבַּרְתְּ לְכִי־לָךְ סָרָה הָרוּחַ הָרָעָה מִבִּתֵּךְ׃ כט Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mar 7:29 And He said to her, "Because of this answer go;
