Today's Date: ======= Lamentations 1:1 ============ Lam 1:1 How lonely sits the city That was full of people! She has become like a widow Who was once great among the nations! She who was a princess among the provinces Has become a forced laborer! (nasb) Lam 1:1 How doth the city sit solitary, that was full of people! how is she become as a widow! she that was great among the nations, and princess among the provinces, how is she become tributary!(kjv) Lam 1:1 How lonely sits the city That was full of people! The princess among the provinces Has become a slave!(nkjv) ======= Lamentations 1:2 ============ Lam 1:2 She weeps bitterly in the night And her tears are on her cheeks; She has none to comfort her Among all her lovers. All her friends have dealt treacherously with her; They have become her enemies. All her gates are desolate; Her priests are groaning, Her virgins are afflicted, And she herself is bitter. Her children have gone into captivity before the enemy.(nkjv) ======= Lamentations 1:6 ============ Lam 1:6 All her majesty Has departed from the daughter of Zion; Her princes have become like deer That have found no pasture; And they have fled without strength Before the pursuer. Her princes have become like deer That find no pasture, That flee without strength Before the pursuer.(nkjv) ======= Lamentations 1:7 ============ Lam 1:7 In the days of her affliction and homelessness Jerusalem remembers all her precious things That were from the days of old, When her people fell into the hand of the adversary And no one helped her. The adversaries saw her, They mocked at her ruin. (nasb) Lam 1:7 Jerusalem remembered in the days of her affliction and of her miseries all her pleasant things that she had in the days of old, when her people fell into the hand of the enemy, and none did help her: the adversaries saw her, and did mock at her sabbaths.(kjv) Lam 1:7 In the days of her affliction and roaming, Jerusalem remembers all her pleasant things That she had in the days of old. When her people fell into the hand of the enemy, With no one to help her, The adversaries saw her And mocked at her downfall.(nkjv) ======= Lamentations 1:8 ============ Lam 1:8 Jerusalem sinned greatly, Therefore she has become an unclean thing. All who honored her despise her Because they have seen her nakedness; Even she herself groans and turns away. (nasb) Lam 1:8 Jerusalem hath grievously sinned; therefore she is removed: all that honoured her despise her, because they have seen her nakedness: yea, she sigheth, and turneth backward.(kjv) Lam 1:8 Jerusalem has sinned gravely, Therefore she has become vile. All who honored her despise her Because they have seen her nakedness; Yes, she sighs and turns away.(nkjv) ======= Lamentations 1:9 ============ Lam 1:9 Her uncleanness was in her skirts; She did not consider her future. Therefore she has fallen astonishingly; She has no comforter. "See, O Lord, my affliction, For the enemy has magnified himself!"(nasb) Lam 1:9 Her filthiness is in her skirts; she remembereth not her last end; therefore she came down wonderfully: she had no comforter. O LORD, behold my affliction: for the enemy hath magnified himself.(kjv) Lam 1:9 Her uncleanness is in her skirts; She did not consider her destiny; Therefore her collapse was awesome; She had no comforter. "O Lord, behold my affliction, For the enemy is exalted!"(nkjv) ======= Lamentations 1:10 ============ Lam 1:10 The adversary has stretched out his hand Over all her precious things, For she has seen the nations enter her sanctuary, The ones whom You commanded That they should not enter into Your congregation. (nasb) Lam 1:10 The adversary hath spread out his hand upon all her pleasant things: for she hath seen that the heathen entered into her sanctuary, whom thou didst command that they should not enter into thy congregation.(kjv) Lam 1:10 The adversary has spread his hand Over all her pleasant things; For she has seen the nations enter her sanctuary, Those whom You commanded Not to enter Your assembly.(nkjv) ======= Lamentations 1:11 ============ Lam 1:11 All her people groan seeking bread; They have given their precious things for food To restore their lives themselves. "See, O Lord, and look, For I am despised."(nasb) Lam 1:11 All her people sigh, they seek bread; they have given their pleasant things for meat to relieve the soul: see, O LORD, and consider; for I am become vile.(kjv) Lam 1:11 All her people sigh, They seek bread; They have given their valuables for food to restore life. Look and see if there is any pain like my pain Which was severely dealt out to me, Which the Lord inflicted on the day of His fierce anger. Oh, that You would bring the day which You have proclaimed, That they may become like me.
