So Abimelech king of Gerar sent and took Sarah.(nasb) Gen 20:2 Dixitque de Sara uxore suo: Soror mea est. And Abimelech king of Gerar sent and took Sarah.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 20:3 ============ Gen 20:3 But God came to Abimelech in a dream of the night, and said to him, "Behold, you are a dead man because of the woman whom you have taken, for she is married."(nasb) Gen 20:3 Venit autem Deus ad Abimelech per somnium nocte, et ait illi: En morieris propter mulierem quam tulisti: habet enim virum.(vulgate) Génesis 20:3 Pero Dios vino a Abimelec en sueños de noche, y le dijo: He aquí muerto [eres] a causa de la mujer que has tomado, la cual [es] casada con marido.(E) Genèse 20:3 Alors Dieu apparut en songe à Abimélec pendant la nuit, et lui dit: Voici, tu vas mourir à cause de la femme que tu as enlevée, car elle a un mari.(F) Gen 20:3 Aber Gott kam zu Abimelech des Nachts im Traum und sprach zu ihm: Siehe da, du bist des Todes um des Weibes willen, das du genommen hast; denn sie ist eines Mannes Eheweib.(D) Gen 20:3 καὶ εἰσῆλθεν ὁ θεὸς πρὸς Αβιμελεχ ἐν ὕπνῳ τὴν νύκτα καὶ εἶπεν ἰδοὺ σὺ ἀποθνῄσκεις περὶ τῆς γυναικός ἧς ἔλαβες αὕτη δέ ἐστιν συνῳκηκυῖα ἀνδρί(lxx) Gen 20:3 But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, "Indeed you are a dead man because of the woman whom you have taken, for she is a man's wife."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 20:4 ============ Gen 20:4 Now Abimelech had not come near her; and he said, "Lord, will You slay a nation, even though blameless?(nasb) Gen 20:4 Abimelech vero non tetigerat eam, et ait: Domine, num gentem ignorantem et justam interficies?(vulgate) Génesis 20:4 Mas Abimelec no se había llegado a ella, y dijo: Señor, ¿matarás también la gente justa?(E) Genèse 20:4 Abimélec, qui ne s'était point approché d'elle, répondit: Seigneur, ferais-tu périr même une nation juste?(F) Gen 20:4 Abimelech aber hatte sie nicht berührt und sprach: HERR, willst du denn auch ein gerechtes Volk erwürgen?(D) Gen 20:4 Αβιμελεχ δὲ οὐχ ἥψατο αὐτῆς καὶ εἶπεν κύριε ἔθνος ἀγνοοῦν καὶ δίκαιον ἀπολεῖς(lxx) Gen 20:4 But Abimelech had not come near her; and he said, "Lord, will You slay a righteous nation also?(nkjv) ======= Genesis 20:5 ============ Gen 20:5 Did he not himself say to me, 'She is my sister'? And she herself said, 'He is my brother.' In the integrity of my heart and the innocence of my hands I have done this."(nasb) Gen 20:5 nonne ipse dixit mihi: Soror mea est: et ipsa ait: Frater meus est? In simplicitate cordis mei, et munditia manuum mearum feci hoc.(vulgate) Génesis 20:5 ¿No me dijo él: Mi hermana [es]; y ella también dijo: [Es] mi hermano? And she, even she herself said, 'He is my brother.' In the integrity of my heart and innocence of my hands I have done this."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 20:6 ============ Gen 20:6 Then God said to him in the dream, "Yes, I know that in the integrity of your heart you have done this, and I also kept you from sinning against Me; therefore I did not let you touch her.(nasb) Gen 20:6 Dixitque ad eum Deus: Et ego scio quod simplici corde feceris: et ideo custodivi te ne peccares in me, et non dimisi ut tangeres eam.(vulgate) Génesis 20:6 Y le dijo Dios en sueños: Yo también sé que con integridad de tu corazón has hecho esto; y yo también te detuve de pecar contra mí, y así no te permití que la tocases.(E) Genèse 20:6 Dieu lui dit en songe: Je sais que tu as agi avec un coeur pur; aussi t'ai-je empêché de pécher contre moi. C'est pourquoi je n'ai pas permis que tu la touchasses.(F) Gen 20:6 Und Gott sprach zu ihm im Traum: Ich weiß auch, daß du mit einfältigem Herzen das getan hast. Darum habe ich dich auch behütet, daß du nicht wider mich sündigtest, und habe es nicht zugegeben, daß du sie berührtest.(D) Gen 20:6 εἶπεν δὲ αὐτῷ ὁ θεὸς καθ᾽ ὕπνον κἀγὼ ἔγνων ὅτι ἐν καθαρᾷ καρδίᾳ ἐποίησας τοῦτο καὶ ἐφεισάμην ἐγώ σου τοῦ μὴ ἁμαρτεῖν σε εἰς ἐμέ ἕνεκεν τούτου οὐκ ἀφῆκά σε ἅψασθαι αὐτῆς(lxx) Gen 20:6 And God said to him in a dream, "Yes, I know that you did this in the integrity of your heart. For I also withheld you from sinning against Me; therefore I did not let you touch her.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 20:7 ============ Gen 20:7 Now therefore, restore the man's wife, for he is a prophet, and he will pray for you and you will live. But if you do not restore her, know that you shall surely die, you and all who are yours."(nasb) Gen 20:7 Nunc ergo redde viro suo uxorem, quia propheta est: et orabit pro te, et vives: si autem nolueris reddere, scito quod morte morieris tu, et omnia quæ tua sunt.(vulgate) Génesis 20:7 Ahora, pues, devuélvele [su] esposa a este hombre; porque él es profeta, y orará por ti, y vivirás. Y si tú no la devolvieres, sabe que de cierto morirás, con todo lo que [fuere] tuyo.(E) Genèse 20:7 Maintenant, rends la femme de cet homme; car il est prophète, il priera pour toi, et tu vivras. Mais, si tu ne la rends pas, sache que tu mourras, toi et tout ce qui t'appartient.(F) Gen 20:7 So gib nun dem Manne sein Weib wieder, denn er ist ein Prophet; und laß ihn für dich bitten, so wirst du lebendig bleiben. Wo du sie aber nicht wiedergibst, so wisse, daß du des Todes sterben mußt und alles, was dein ist.(D) Gen 20:7 νῦν δὲ ἀπόδος τὴν γυναῖκα τῷ ἀνθρώπῳ ὅτι προφήτης ἐστὶν καὶ προσεύξεται περὶ σοῦ καὶ ζήσῃ εἰ δὲ μὴ ἀποδίδως γνῶθι ὅτι ἀποθανῇ σὺ καὶ πάντα τὰ σά(lxx) Gen 20:7 Now therefore, restore the man's wife; for he is a prophet, and he will pray for you and you shall live. But if you do not restore her, know that you shall surely die, you and all who are yours."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 20:8 ============ Gen 20:8 So Abimelech arose early in the morning and called all his servants and told all these things in their hearing; and the men were greatly frightened.(nasb) Gen 20:8 Statimque de nocte consurgens Abimelech, vocavit omnes servos suos: et locutus est universa verba hæc in auribus eorum, timueruntque omnes viri valde.(vulgate) Génesis 20:8 Entonces Abimelec se levantó de mañana, y llamó a todos sus siervos, y dijo todas estas palabras en los oídos de ellos; y temieron los hombres en gran manera.(E) Genèse 20:8 Abimélec se leva de bon matin, il appela tous ses serviteurs, et leur rapporta toutes ces choses; et ces gens furent saisis d'une grande frayeur.(F) Gen 20:8 Da stand Abimelech des Morgens früh auf und rief alle seine Knechte und sagte ihnen dieses alles vor ihren Ohren. Und die Leute fürchteten sich sehr.(D) Gen 20:8 καὶ ὤρθρισεν Αβιμελεχ τὸ πρωὶ καὶ ἐκάλεσεν πάντας τοὺς παῖδας αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐλάλησεν πάντα τὰ ῥήματα ταῦτα εἰς τὰ ὦτα αὐτῶν ἐφοβήθησαν δὲ πάντες οἱ ἄνθρωποι σφόδρα(lxx) Gen 20:8 So Abimelech rose early in the morning, called all his servants, and told all these things in their hearing; and the men were very much afraid.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 20:9 ============ Gen 20:9 Then Abimelech called Abraham and said to him, "What have you done to us? And how have I sinned against you, that you have brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? You have done to me things that ought not to be done."(nasb) Gen 20:9 Vocavit autem Abimelech etiam Abraham, et dixit ei: Quid fecisti nobis? quid peccavimus in te, quia induxisti super me et super regnum meum peccatum grande? quæ non debuisti facere, fecisti nobis.(vulgate) Génesis 20:9 Después llamó Abimelec a Abraham y le dijo: ¿Qué nos has hecho? ¿En qué pequé yo contra ti, que has atraído sobre mí y sobre mi reino tan gran pecado? lo que no debiste hacer has hecho conmigo.(E) Genèse 20:9 Abimélec appela aussi Abraham, et lui dit: Qu'est-ce que tu nous as fait? Et en quoi t'ai-je offensé, que tu aies fait venir sur moi et sur mon royaume un si grand péché? Tu as commis à mon égard des actes qui ne doivent pas se commettre.(F) Gen 20:9 Und Abimelech rief Abraham auch und sprach zu ihm: Warum hast du uns das getan? Und was habe ich an dir gesündigt, daß du so eine große Sünde wolltest auf mich und mein Reich bringen? Du hast mit mir gehandelt, wie man nicht handeln soll.(D) Gen 20:9 καὶ ἐκάλεσεν Αβιμελεχ τὸν Αβρααμ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ τί τοῦτο ἐποίησας ἡμῖν μή τι ἡμάρτομεν εἰς σέ ὅτι ἐπήγαγες ἐπ᾽ ἐμὲ καὶ ἐπὶ τὴν βασιλείαν μου ἁμαρτίαν μεγάλην ἔργον ὃ οὐδεὶς ποιήσει πεποίηκάς μοι(lxx) Gen 20:9 And Abimelech called Abraham and said to him, "What have you done to us? How have I offended you, that you have brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? You have done deeds to me that ought not to be done."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 20:10 ============ Gen 20:10 And Abimelech said to Abraham, "What have you encountered, that you have done this thing?"(nasb) Gen 20:10 Rursumque expostulans, ait: Quid vidisti, ut hoc faceres?(vulgate) Génesis 20:10 Y dijo más Abimelec a Abraham: ¿Qué viste para que hicieses esto?(E) Genèse 20:10 Et Abimélec dit à Abraham: Quelle intention avais-tu pour agir de la sorte?(F) Gen 20:10 Und Abimelech sprach weiter zu Abraham: Was hast du gesehen, daß du solches getan hast?(D) Gen 20:10 εἶπεν δὲ Αβιμελεχ τῷ Αβρααμ τί ἐνιδὼν ἐποίησας τοῦτο(lxx) Gen 20:10 Then Abimelech said to Abraham, "What did you have in view, that you have done this thing?"(nkjv) ======= Genesis 20:11 ============ Gen 20:11 Abraham said, "Because I thought, surely there is no fear of God in this place, and they will kill me because of my wife.(nasb) Gen 20:11 Respondit Abraham: Cogitavi mecum, dicens: Forsitan non est timor Dei in loco isto: et interficient me propter uxorem meam:(vulgate) Génesis 20:11 Y Abraham respondió: Porque dije para mí: Cierto no hay temor de Dios en este lugar, y me matarán por causa de mi esposa.(E) Genèse 20:11 Abraham répondit: Je me disais qu'il n'y avait sans doute aucune crainte de Dieu dans ce pays, et que l'on me tuerait à cause de ma femme.(F) Gen 20:11 Abraham sprach: Ich dachte, vielleicht ist keine Gottesfurcht an diesem Orte, und sie werden mich um meines Weibes willen erwürgen.(D) Gen 20:11 εἶπεν δὲ Αβρααμ εἶπα γάρ ἄρα οὐκ ἔστιν θεοσέβεια ἐν τῷ τόπῳ τούτῳ ἐμέ τε ἀποκτενοῦσιν ἕνεκεν τῆς γυναικός μου(lxx) Gen 20:11 And Abraham said, "Because I thought, surely the fear of God is not in this place; and they will kill me on account of my wife.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 20:12 ============ Gen 20:12 Besides, she actually is my sister, the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother, and she became my wife;(nasb) Gen 20:12 alias autem et vere soror mea est, filia patris mei, et non filia matris meæ, et duxi eam in uxorem.(vulgate) Génesis 20:12 Y a la verdad también [es] mi hermana, hija de mi padre, mas no hija de mi madre, y la tomé por esposa.(E) Genèse 20:12 De plus, il est vrai qu'elle est ma soeur, fille de mon père; seulement, elle n'est pas fille de ma mère; et elle est devenue ma femme.(F) Gen 20:12 Auch ist sie wahrhaftig meine Schwester; denn sie ist meines Vaters Tochter, aber nicht meiner Mutter Tochter, und ist mein geworden.(D) Gen 20:12 καὶ γὰρ ἀληθῶς ἀδελφή μού ἐστιν ἐκ πατρός ἀλλ᾽ οὐκ ἐκ μητρός ἐγενήθη δέ μοι εἰς γυναῖκα(lxx) Gen 20:12 But indeed she is truly my sister. ' "(nkjv) ======= Genesis 20:14 ============ Gen 20:14 Abimelech then took sheep and oxen and male and female servants, and gave them to Abraham, and restored his wife Sarah to him.(nasb) Gen 20:14 Tulit igitur Abimelech oves et boves, et servos et ancillas, et dedit Abraham: reddiditque illi Saram uxorem suam,(vulgate) Génesis 20:14 Entonces Abimelec tomó ovejas y vacas, y siervos y siervas, y lo dio a Abraham, y le devolvió a Sara su esposa.(E) Genèse 20:14 Abimélec prit des brebis et des boeufs, des serviteurs et des servantes, et les donna à Abraham; et il lui rendit Sara, sa femme.(F) Gen 20:14 Da nahm Abimelech Schafe und Rinder, Knechte und Mägde und gab sie Abraham und gab ihm wieder sein Weib Sara(D) Gen 20:14 ἔλαβεν δὲ Αβιμελεχ χίλια δίδραχμα πρόβατα καὶ μόσχους καὶ παῖδας καὶ παιδίσκας καὶ ἔδωκεν τῷ Αβρααμ καὶ ἀπέδωκεν αὐτῷ Σαρραν τὴν γυναῖκα αὐτοῦ(lxx) Gen 20:14 Then Abimelech took sheep, oxen, and male and female servants, and gave them to Abraham; and he restored Sarah his wife to him.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 20:15 ============ Gen 20:15 Abimelech said, "Behold, my land is before you; settle wherever you please."(nasb) Gen 20:15 et ait: Terra coram vobis est, ubicumque tibi placuerit habita.(vulgate) Génesis 20:15 Y dijo Abimelec: He aquí mi tierra [está] delante de ti, habita donde bien te pareciere.(E) Genèse 20:15 Abimélec dit: Voici, mon pays est devant toi; demeure où il te plaira.(F) Gen 20:15 und sprach: Siehe da, mein Land steht dir offen; wohne, wo dir's wohl gefällt.(D) Gen 20:15 καὶ εἶπεν Αβιμελεχ τῷ Αβρααμ ἰδοὺ ἡ γῆ μου ἐναντίον σου οὗ ἐάν σοι ἀρέσκῃ κατοίκει(lxx) Gen 20:15 And Abimelech said, "See, my land is before you; dwell where it pleases you."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 20:16 ============ Gen 20:16 To Sarah he said, "Behold, I have given your brother a thousand pieces of silver; behold, it is your vindication before all who are with you, and before all men you are cleared."(nasb) Gen 20:16 Saræ autem dixit: Ecce mille argenteos dedi fratri tuo, hoc erit tibi in velamen oculorum ad omnes qui tecum sunt, et quocumque perrexeris: mementoque te deprehensam.(vulgate) Génesis 20:16 Y a Sara dijo: He aquí he dado mil [piezas] de plata a tu hermano; mira que él te es como velo de ojos para todos los que [están] contigo, y para con todos; así fue reprendida.(E) Genèse 20:16 Et il dit à Sara: Voici, je donne à ton frère mille pièces d'argent; cela te sera un voile sur les yeux pour tous ceux qui sont avec toi, et auprès de tous tu seras justifiée.(F) Gen 20:16 Und sprach zu Sara: Siehe da, ich habe deinem Bruder tausend Silberlinge gegeben; siehe, das soll dir eine Decke der Augen sein vor allen, die bei dir sind, und allenthalben. Und damit war ihr Recht verschafft.(D) Gen 20:16 τῇ δὲ Σαρρα εἶπεν ἰδοὺ δέδωκα χίλια δίδραχμα τῷ ἀδελφῷ σου ταῦτα ἔσται σοι εἰς τιμὴν τοῦ προσώπου σου καὶ πάσαις ταῖς μετὰ σοῦ καὶ πάντα ἀλήθευσον(lxx) Gen 20:16 Then to Sarah he said, "Behold, I have given your brother a thousand pieces of silver; indeed this vindicates you before all who are with you and before everybody."
