Unless the Lord builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the Lord guards the city, The watchman stays awake in vain.(nkjv) ======= Psalm 127:2 ============ Psa 127:2 It is vain for you to rise up early, To retire late, To eat the bread of painful labors; For He gives to His beloved even in his sleep.(nas) Psa 127:2 εἰς μάτην ὑμῖν ἐστιν τοῦ ὀρθρίζειν ἐγείρεσθαι μετὰ τὸ καθῆσθαι οἱ ἔσθοντες ἄρτον ὀδύνης ὅταν δῷ τοῖς ἀγαπητοῖς αὐτοῦ ὕπνον (lxx) Psa 127:2 [Vulgate 126:2] frustra vobis est de mane consurgere postquam sederitis qui manducatis panem idolorum sic dabit diligentibus se somnum(vulgate) 2 ׃127 שָׁ֤וְא לָכֶ֨ם ׀ מַשְׁכִּ֪ימֵי ק֡וּם מְאַֽחֲרֵי־שֶׁ֗בֶת אֹ֭כְלֵי לֶ֣חֶם הָעֲצָבִ֑ים כֵּ֤ן יִתֵּ֖ן לִֽידִיד֣וֹ שֵׁנָֽא׃ Psalms Psa 127:2 Es ist umsonst, daß ihr früh aufstehet und hernach lange sitzet und esset euer Brot mit Sorgen; denn seinen Freunden gibt er's schlafend.(dhs) Psa 127:2 It is vain for you to rise up early, To sit up late, To eat the bread of sorrows; For so He gives His beloved sleep.(nkjv) ======= Psalm 127:3 ============ Psa 127:3 Behold, children are a gift of the Lord, The fruit of the womb is a reward.(nas) Psa 127:3 ἰδοὺ ἡ κληρονομία κυρίου υἱοί ὁ μισθὸς τοῦ καρποῦ τῆς γαστρός (lxx) Psa 127:3 [Vulgate 126:3] ecce hereditas Domini filii mercis fructus ventris(vulgate) 3 ׃127 הִנֵּ֤ה נַחֲלַ֣ת יְהוָ֣ה בָּנִ֑ים שָׂ֝כָ֗ר פְּרִ֣י הַבָּֽטֶן׃ Psalms Psa 127:3 Siehe, Kinder sind eine Gabe des HERRN, und Leibesfrucht ist ein Geschenk.(dhs) Psa 127:3 Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, The fruit of the womb is a reward.(nkjv) ======= Psalm 127:4 ============ Psa 127:4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, So are the children of one's youth.(nas) Psa 127:4 ὡσεὶ βέλη ἐν χειρὶ δυνατοῦ οὕτως οἱ υἱοὶ τῶν ἐκτετιναγμένων (lxx) Psa 127:4 [Vulgate 126:4] sicut sagittae in manu potentis ita filii iuventutis(vulgate) 4 ׃127 כְּחִצִּ֥ים בְּיַד־גִּבּ֑וֹר כֵּ֝֗ן בְּנֵ֣י הַנְּעוּרִֽים׃ Psalms Psa 127:4 Wie die Pfeile in der Hand des Starken, also geraten die jungen Knaben.(dhs) Psa 127:4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, So are the children of one's youth.(nkjv) ======= Psalm 127:5 ============ Psa 127:5 How blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them; They will not be ashamed When they speak with their enemies in the gate.(nas) Psa 127:5 μακάριος ἄνθρωπος ὃς πληρώσει τὴν ἐπιθυμίαν αὐτοῦ ἐξ αὐτῶν οὐ καταισχυνθήσονται ὅταν λαλῶσι τοῖς ἐχθροῖς αὐτῶν ἐν πύλῃ (lxx) Psa 127:5 [Vulgate 126:5] beatus vir qui implevit faretram suam ex ipsis non confundentur cum loquentur inimicis in porta(vulgate) 5 ׃127 אַשְׁרֵ֤י הַגֶּ֗בֶר אֲשֶׁ֤ר מִלֵּ֥א אֶת־אַשְׁפָּת֗וֹ מֵ֫הֶ֥ם לֹֽא־יֵבֹ֑שׁוּ כִּֽי־יְדַבְּר֖וּ אֶת־אוֹיְבִ֣ים בַּשָּֽׁעַר׃ Psalms Psa 127:5 Wohl dem, der seinen Köcher derselben voll hat!
