Today's Date: ======= Habakkuk 2:1 ============ Hab 2:1 I will stand on my guard post And station myself on the rampart; And I will keep watch to see what He will speak to me, And how I may reply when I am reproved.(nas) Hab 2:1 ἐπὶ τῆς φυλακῆς μου στήσομαι καὶ ἐπιβήσομαι ἐπὶ πέτραν καὶ ἀποσκοπεύσω τοῦ ἰδεῖν τί λαλήσει ἐν ἐμοὶ καὶ τί ἀποκριθῶ ἐπὶ τὸν ἔλεγχόν μου (lxx) Hab 2:1 [Super custodiam meam stabo, et figam gradum super munitionem: et contemplabor ut videam quid dicatur mihi, et quid respondeam ad arguentem me.]~(vulgate) 1 ׃2 עַל־מִשְׁמַרְתִּ֣י אֶעֱמֹ֔דָה וְאֶֽתְיַצְּבָ֖ה עַל־מָצ֑וֹר וַאֲצַפֶּ֗ה לִרְאוֹת֙ מַה־יְדַבֶּר־בִּ֔י וּמָ֥ה אָשִׁ֖יב עַל־תּוֹכַחְתִּֽי׃ Habakkuk Hab 2:1 Hier stehe ich auf meiner Hut und trete auf meine Feste und schaue und sehe zu, was mir gesagt werde, und was meine Antwort sein sollte auf mein Rechten.(dhs) Hab 2:1 I will stand my watch And set myself on the rampart, And watch to see what He will say to me, And what I will answer when I am corrected.(nkjv) ======= Habakkuk 2:2 ============ Hab 2:2 Then the Lord answered me and said, "Record the vision And inscribe it on tablets, That the one who reads it may run.(nas) Hab 2:2 καὶ ἀπεκρίθη πρός με κύριος καὶ εἶπεν γράψον ὅρασιν καὶ σαφῶς ἐπὶ πυξίον ὅπως διώκῃ ὁ ἀναγινώσκων αὐτά (lxx) Hab 2:2 Et respondit mihi Dominus, et dixit: [Scribe visum, et explana eum super tabulas, ut percurrat qui legerit eum.(vulgate) 2 ׃2 וַיַּעֲנֵ֤נִי יְהוָה֙ וַיֹּ֔אמֶר כְּת֣וֹב חָז֔וֹן וּבָאֵ֖ר עַל־הַלֻּח֑וֹת לְמַ֥עַן יָר֖וּץ ק֥וֹרֵא בֽוֹ׃ Habakkuk Hab 2:2 Der HERR aber antwortet mir und spricht: Schreib das Gesicht und male es auf eine Tafel, daß es lesen könne, wer vorüberläuft!(dhs) Hab 2:2 Then the Lord answered me and said: "Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it.(nkjv) ======= Habakkuk 2:3 ============ Hab 2:3 "For the vision is yet for the appointed time; It hastens toward the goal and it will not fail. Though it tarries, wait for it; For it will certainly come, it will not delay.(nas) Hab 2:3 διότι ἔτι ὅρασις εἰς καιρὸν καὶ ἀνατελεῖ εἰς πέρας καὶ οὐκ εἰς κενόν ἐὰν ὑστερήσῃ ὑπόμεινον αὐτόν ὅτι ἐρχόμενος ἥξει καὶ οὐ μὴ χρονίσῃ (lxx) Hab 2:3 Quia adhuc visus procul; et apparebit in finem, et non mentietur: si moram fecerit, exspecta illum, quia veniens veniet, et non tardabit.(vulgate) 3 ׃2 כִּ֣י ע֤וֹד חָזוֹן֙ לַמּוֹעֵ֔ד וְיָפֵ֥חַ לַקֵּ֖ץ וְלֹ֣א יְכַזֵּ֑ב אִם־יִתְמַהְמָהּ֙ חַכֵּה־ל֔וֹ כִּֽי־בֹ֥א יָבֹ֖א לֹ֥א יְאַחֵֽר׃ Habakkuk Hab 2:3 Die Weissagung wird ja noch erfüllt werden zu seiner Zeit und endlich frei an den Tag kommen und nicht ausbleiben. Ob sie aber verzieht, so harre ihrer: sie wird gewiß kommen und nicht verziehen.(dhs) Hab 2:3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry.(nkjv) ======= Habakkuk 2:4 ============ Hab 2:4 "Behold, as for the proud one, His soul is not right within him; But the righteous will live by his faith.(nas) Hab 2:4 ἐὰν ὑποστείληται οὐκ εὐδοκεῖ ἡ ψυχή μου ἐν αὐτῷ ὁ δὲ δίκαιος ἐκ πίστεώς μου ζήσεται (lxx) Hab 2:4 Ecce qui incredulus est, non erit recta anima ejus in semetipso; justus autem in fide sua vivet.(vulgate) 4 ׃2 הִנֵּ֣ה עֻפְּלָ֔ה לֹא־יָשְׁרָ֥ה נַפְשׁ֖וֹ בּ֑וֹ וְצַדִּ֖יק בֶּאֱמוּנָת֥וֹ יִחְיֶֽה׃ Habakkuk Hab 2:4 Siehe, wer halsstarrig ist, der wird keine Ruhe in seinem Herzen haben; der Gerechte aber wird seines Glaubens leben.(dhs) Hab 2:4 "Behold the proud, His soul is not upright in him; But the just shall live by his faith.(nkjv) ======= Habakkuk 2:5 ============ Hab 2:5 "Furthermore, wine betrays the haughty man, So that he does not stay at home. He enlarges his appetite like Sheol, And he is like death, never satisfied. He also gathers to himself all nations And collects to himself all peoples.(nas) Hab 2:5 ὁ δὲ κατοινωμένος καὶ καταφρονητὴς ἀνὴρ ἀλαζών οὐδὲν μὴ περάνῃ ὃς ἐπλάτυνεν καθὼς ὁ ᾅδης τὴν ψυχὴν αὐτοῦ καὶ οὗτος ὡς θάνατος οὐκ ἐμπιπλάμενος καὶ ἐπισυνάξει ἐπ᾽ αὐτὸν πάντα τὰ ἔθνη καὶ εἰσδέξεται πρὸς αὐτὸν πάντας τοὺς λαούς (lxx) Hab 2:5 Et quomodo vinum potantem decipit, sic erit vir superbus, et non decorabitur: qui dilatavit quasi infernus animam suam, et ipse quasi mors, et non adimpletur: et congregabit ad se omnes gentes, et coacervabit ad se omnes populos.(vulgate) 5 ׃2 וְאַף֙ כִּֽי־הַיַּ֣יִן בּוֹגֵ֔ד גֶּ֥בֶר יָהִ֖יר וְלֹ֣א יִנְוֶ֑ה אֲשֶׁר֩ הִרְחִ֨יב כִּשְׁא֜וֹל נַפְשׁ֗וֹ וְה֤וּא כַמָּ֙וֶת֙ וְלֹ֣א יִשְׂבָּ֔ע וַיֶּאֱסֹ֤ף אֵלָיו֙ כָּל־הַגּוֹיִ֔ם וַיִּקְבֹּ֥ץ אֵלָ֖יו כָּל־הָעַמִּֽים׃ Habakkuk Hab 2:5 Aber der Wein betrügt den stolzen Mann, daß er nicht rasten kann, welcher seine Seele aufsperrt wie die Hölle und ist gerade wie der Tod, der nicht zu sättigen ist, sondern rafft zu sich alle Heiden und sammelt zu sich alle Völker.(dhs) Hab 2:5 "Indeed, because he transgresses by wine, He is a proud man, And he does not stay at home. Because he enlarges his desire as hell, And he is like death, and cannot be satisfied, He gathers to himself all nations And heaps up for himself all peoples.(nkjv) ======= Habakkuk 2:6 ============ Hab 2:6 "Will not all of these take up a taunt-song against him, Even mockery and insinuations against him And say, 'Woe to him who increases what is not his-- For how long-- And makes himself rich with loans?'(nas) Hab 2:6 οὐχὶ ταῦτα πάντα παραβολὴν κατ᾽ αὐτοῦ λήμψονται καὶ πρόβλημα εἰς διήγησιν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐροῦσιν οὐαὶ ὁ πληθύνων ἑαυτῷ τὰ οὐκ ὄντα αὐτοῦ ἕως τίνος καὶ βαρύνων τὸν κλοιὸν αὐτοῦ στιβαρῶς (lxx) Hab 2:6 Numquid non omnes isti super eum parabolam sument, et loquelam ænigmatum ejus, et dicetur: Væ ei qui multiplicat non sua? usquequo et aggravat contra se densum lutum?(vulgate) 6 ׃2 הֲלוֹא־אֵ֣לֶּה כֻלָּ֗ם עָלָיו֙ מָשָׁ֣ל יִשָּׂ֔אוּ וּמְלִיצָ֖ה חִיד֣וֹת ל֑וֹ וְיֹאמַ֗ר ה֚וֹי הַמַּרְבֶּ֣ה לֹּא־ל֔וֹ עַד־מָתַ֕י וּמַכְבִּ֥יד עָלָ֖יו עַבְטִֽיט׃ Habakkuk Hab 2:6 Was gilt's aber? diese alle werden einen Spruch von ihm machen und eine Sage und Sprichwort und werden sagen: Weh dem, der sein Gut mehrt mit fremden Gut! Wie lange wird's währen, und ladet nur viel Schulden auf sich?(dhs) Hab 2:6 "Will not all these take up a proverb against him, And a taunting riddle against him, and say, 'Woe to him who increases What is not his--how long? And to him who loads himself with many pledges'?(nkjv) ======= Habakkuk 2:7 ============ Hab 2:7 "Will not your creditors rise up suddenly, And those who collect from you awaken? Indeed, you will become plunder for them.(nas) Hab 2:7 ὅτι ἐξαίφνης ἀναστήσονται δάκνοντες αὐτόν καὶ ἐκνήψουσιν οἱ ἐπίβουλοί σου καὶ ἔσῃ εἰς διαρπαγὴν αὐτοῖς (lxx) Hab 2:7 Numquid non repente consurgent qui mordeant te, et suscitabuntur lacerantes te, et eris in rapinam eis?(vulgate) 7 ׃2 הֲל֣וֹא פֶ֗תַע יָק֙וּמוּ֙ נֹשְׁכֶ֔יךָ וְיִקְצ֖וּ מְזַעְזְעֶ֑יךָ וְהָיִ֥יתָ לִמְשִׁסּ֖וֹת לָֽמוֹ׃ Habakkuk Hab 2:7 O wie plötzlich werden aufstehen die dich beißen, und erwachen, die dich wegstoßen! und du mußt ihnen zuteil werden.(dhs) Hab 2:7 Will not your creditors rise up suddenly? Will they not awaken who oppress you? And you will become their booty.(nkjv) ======= Habakkuk 2:8 ============ Hab 2:8 "Because you have looted many nations, All the remainder of the peoples will loot you-- Because of human bloodshed and violence done to the land, To the town and all its inhabitants.(nas) Hab 2:8 διότι σὺ ἐσκύλευσας ἔθνη πολλά σκυλεύσουσίν σε πάντες οἱ ὑπολελειμμένοι λαοὶ δι᾽ αἵματα ἀνθρώπων καὶ ἀσεβείας γῆς καὶ πόλεως καὶ πάντων τῶν κατοικούντων αὐτήν (lxx) Hab 2:8 Quia tu spoliasti gentes multas, spoliabunt te omnes qui reliqui fuerint de populis, propter sanguinem hominis, et iniquitatem terræ, civitatis, et omnium habitantium in ea.(vulgate) 8 ׃2 כִּֽי אַתָּ֤ה שַׁלּ֙וֹתָ֙ גּוֹיִ֣ם רַבִּ֔ים יְשָׁלּ֖וּךָ כָּל־יֶ֣תֶר עַמִּ֑ים מִדְּמֵ֤י אָדָם֙ וַחֲמַס־אֶ֔רֶץ קִרְיָ֖ה וְכָל־יֹ֥שְׁבֵי בָֽהּ׃ פ Habakkuk Hab 2:8 Denn du hast viele Heiden beraubt; so werden dich wieder berauben alle übrigen von den Völkern um des Menschenbluts willen und um des Frevels willen, im Lande und in der Stadt und an allen, die darin wohnen, begangen.(dhs) Hab 2:8 Because you have plundered many nations, All the remnant of the people shall plunder you, Because of men's blood And the violence of the land and the city, And of all who dwell in it.(nkjv) ======= Habakkuk 2:9 ============ Hab 2:9 "Woe to him who gets evil gain for his house To put his nest on high, To be delivered from the hand of calamity!(nas) Hab 2:9 ὦ ὁ πλεονεκτῶν πλεονεξίαν κακὴν τῷ οἴκῳ αὐτοῦ τοῦ τάξαι εἰς ὕψος νοσσιὰν αὐτοῦ τοῦ ἐκσπασθῆναι ἐκ χειρὸς κακῶν (lxx) Hab 2:9 Væ qui congregat avaritiam malam domui suæ, ut sit in excelso nidus ejus, et liberari se putat de manu mali!(vulgate) 9 ׃2 ה֗וֹי בֹּצֵ֛עַ בֶּ֥צַע רָ֖ע לְבֵית֑וֹ לָשׂ֤וּם בַּמָּרוֹם֙ קִנּ֔וֹ לְהִנָּצֵ֖ל מִכַּף־רָֽע׃ Habakkuk Hab 2:9 Weh dem, der da geizt zum Unglück seines Hauses, auf daß er sein Nest in die Höhe lege, daß er dem Unfall entrinne!(dhs) Hab 2:9 "Woe to him who covets evil gain for his house, That he may set his nest on high, That he may be delivered from the power of disaster!(nkjv) ======= Habakkuk 2:10 ============ Hab 2:10 "You have devised a shameful thing for your house By cutting off many peoples; So you are sinning against yourself.(nas) Hab 2:10 ἐβουλεύσω αἰσχύνην τῷ οἴκῳ σου συνεπέρανας λαοὺς πολλούς καὶ ἐξήμαρτεν ἡ ψυχή σου (lxx) Hab 2:10 Cogitasti confusionem domui tuæ; concidisti populos multos, et peccavit anima tua.(vulgate) 10 ׃2 יָעַ֥צְתָּ בֹּ֖שֶׁת לְבֵיתֶ֑ךָ קְצוֹת־עַמִּ֥ים רַבִּ֖ים וְחוֹטֵ֥א נַפְשֶֽׁךָ׃ Habakkuk Hab 2:10 Aber dein Ratschlag wird zur Schande deines Hauses geraten; denn du hast zu viele Völker zerschlagen und hast mit allem Mutwillen gesündigt.(dhs) Hab 2:10 You give shameful counsel to your house, Cutting off many peoples, And sin against your soul.(nkjv) ======= Habakkuk 2:11 ============ Hab 2:11 "Surely the stone will cry out from the wall, And the rafter will answer it from the framework.(nas) Hab 2:11 διότι λίθος ἐκ τοίχου βοήσεται καὶ κάνθαρος ἐκ ξύλου φθέγξεται αὐτά (lxx) Hab 2:11 Quia lapis de pariete clamabit, et lignum, quod inter juncturas ædificiorum est, respondebit.(vulgate) 11 ׃2 כִּי־אֶ֖בֶן מִקִּ֣יר תִּזְעָ֑ק וְכָפִ֖יס מֵעֵ֥ץ יַעֲנֶֽנָּה׃ פ Habakkuk Hab 2:11 Denn auch die Steine in der Mauer werden schreien, und die Sparren am Balkenwerk werden ihnen antworten.(dhs) Hab 2:11 For the stone will cry out from the wall, And the beam from the timbers will answer it.(nkjv) ======= Habakkuk 2:12 ============ Hab 2:12 "Woe to him who builds a city with bloodshed And founds a town with violence!(nas) Hab 2:12 οὐαὶ ὁ οἰκοδομῶν πόλιν ἐν αἵμασιν καὶ ἑτοιμάζων πόλιν ἐν ἀδικίαις (lxx) Hab 2:12 Væ qui ædificat civitatem in sanguinibus, et præparat urbem in iniquitate!(vulgate) 12 ׃2 ה֛וֹי בֹּנֶ֥ה עִ֖יר בְּדָמִ֑ים וְכוֹנֵ֥ן קִרְיָ֖ה בְּעַוְלָֽה׃ Habakkuk Hab 2:12 Weh dem, der die Stadt mit Blut baut und richtet die Stadt mit Unrecht zu!(dhs) Hab 2:12 "Woe to him who builds a town with bloodshed, Who establishes a city by iniquity!(nkjv) ======= Habakkuk 2:13 ============ Hab 2:13 "Is it not indeed from the Lord of hosts That peoples toil for fire, And nations grow weary for nothing?(nas) Hab 2:13 οὐ ταῦτά ἐστιν παρὰ κυρίου παντοκράτορος καὶ ἐξέλιπον λαοὶ ἱκανοὶ ἐν πυρί καὶ ἔθνη πολλὰ ὠλιγοψύχησαν (lxx) Hab 2:13 Numquid non hæc sunt a Domino exercituum? laborabunt enim populi in multo igne, et gentes in vacuum, et deficient.(vulgate) 13 ׃2 הֲל֣וֹא הִנֵּ֔ה מֵאֵ֖ת יְהוָ֣ה צְבָא֑וֹת וְיִֽיגְע֤וּ עַמִּים֙ בְּדֵי־אֵ֔שׁ וּלְאֻמִּ֖ים בְּדֵי־רִ֥יק יִעָֽפוּ׃ Habakkuk Hab 2:13 Wird's nicht also vom HERRN Zebaoth geschehen: was die Völker gearbeitet haben, muß mit Feuer verbrennen, und daran die Leute müde geworden sind, das muß verloren sein?(dhs) Hab 2:13 Behold, is it not of the Lord of hosts That the peoples labor to feed the fire, And nations weary themselves in vain?(nkjv) ======= Habakkuk 2:14 ============ Hab 2:14 "For the earth will be filled With the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, As the waters cover the sea.(nas) Hab 2:14 ὅτι πλησθήσεται ἡ γῆ τοῦ γνῶναι τὴν δόξαν κυρίου ὡς ὕδωρ κατακαλύψει αὐτούς (lxx) Hab 2:14 Quia replebitur terra, ut cognoscant gloriam Domini, quasi aquæ operientes mare.(vulgate) 14 ׃2 כִּ֚י תִּמָּלֵ֣א הָאָ֔רֶץ לָדַ֖עַת אֶת־כְּב֣וֹד יְהוָ֑ה כַּמַּ֖יִם יְכַסּ֥וּ עַל־יָֽם׃ ס Habakkuk Hab 2:14 Denn die Erde wird voll werden von Erkenntnis der Ehre des HERRN, wie Wasser das Meer bedeckt.(dhs) Hab 2:14 For the earth will be filled With the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, As the waters cover the sea.(nkjv) ======= Habakkuk 2:15 ============ Hab 2:15 "Woe to you who make your neighbors drink, Who mix in your venom even to make them drunk So as to look on their nakedness!(nas) Hab 2:15 ὦ ὁ ποτίζων τὸν πλησίον αὐτοῦ ἀνατροπῇ θολερᾷ καὶ μεθύσκων ὅπως ἐπιβλέπῃ ἐπὶ τὰ σπήλαια αὐτῶν (lxx) Hab 2:15 Væ qui potum dat amico suo mittens fel suum, et inebrians ut aspiciat nuditatem ejus!(vulgate) 15 ׃2 ה֚וֹי מַשְׁקֵ֣ה רֵעֵ֔הוּ מְסַפֵּ֥חַ חֲמָתְךָ֖ וְאַ֣ף שַׁכֵּ֑ר לְמַ֥עַן הַבִּ֖יט עַל־מְעוֹרֵיהֶֽם׃ Habakkuk Hab 2:15 Weh dir, der du deinem Nächsten einschenkst und mischest deinen Grimm darunter und ihn trunken machst, daß du sein Blöße sehest!(dhs) Hab 2:15 "Woe to him who gives drink to his neighbor, Pressing him to your bottle, Even to make him drunk, That you may look on his nakedness!(nkjv) ======= Habakkuk 2:16 ============ Hab 2:16 "You will be filled with disgrace rather than honor. Now you yourself drink and expose your own nakedness. The cup in the Lord's right hand will come around to you, And utter disgrace will come upon your glory.(nas) Hab 2:16 πλησμονὴν ἀτιμίας ἐκ δόξης πίε καὶ σὺ καὶ διασαλεύθητι καὶ σείσθητι ἐκύκλωσεν ἐπὶ σὲ ποτήριον δεξιᾶς κυρίου καὶ συνήχθη ἀτιμία ἐπὶ τὴν δόξαν σου (lxx) Hab 2:16 Repletus es ignominia pro gloria; bibe tu quoque, et consopire. Circumdabit te calix dexteræ Domini, et vomitus ignominiæ super gloriam tuam.(vulgate) 16 ׃2 שָׂבַ֤עְתָּ קָלוֹן֙ מִכָּב֔וֹד שְׁתֵ֥ה גַם־אַ֖תָּה וְהֵֽעָרֵ֑ל תִּסּ֣וֹב עָלֶ֗יךָ כּ֚וֹס יְמִ֣ין יְהוָ֔ה וְקִיקָל֖וֹן עַל־כְּבוֹדֶֽךָ׃ Habakkuk Hab 2:16 Du hast dich gesättigt mit Schande und nicht mit Ehre. So saufe du nun auch, daß du taumelst! denn zu dir wird umgehen der Kelch in der Rechten des HERRN, und mußt eitel Schande haben für deine Herrlichkeit.(dhs) Hab 2:16 You are filled with shame instead of glory. You also--drink! And be exposed as uncircumcised! The cup of the Lord's right hand will be turned against you, And utter shame will be on your glory.(nkjv) ======= Habakkuk 2:17 ============ Hab 2:17 "For the violence done to Lebanon will overwhelm you, And the devastation of its beasts by which you terrified them, Because of human bloodshed and violence done to the land, To the town and all its inhabitants.(nas) Hab 2:17 διότι ἀσέβεια τοῦ Λιβάνου καλύψει σε καὶ ταλαιπωρία θηρίων πτοήσει σε διὰ αἵματα ἀνθρώπων καὶ ἀσεβείας γῆς καὶ πόλεως καὶ πάντων τῶν κατοικούντων αὐτήν (lxx) Hab 2:17 Quia iniquitas Libani operiet te, et vastitas animalium deterrebit eos de sanguinibus hominum, et iniquitate terræ, et civitatis, et omnium habitantium in ea.(vulgate) 17 ׃2 כִּ֣י חֲמַ֤ס לְבָנוֹן֙ יְכַסֶּ֔ךָּ וְשֹׁ֥ד בְּהֵמ֖וֹת יְחִיתַ֑ן מִדְּמֵ֤י אָדָם֙ וַחֲמַס־אֶ֔רֶץ קִרְיָ֖ה וְכָל־יֹ֥שְׁבֵי בָֽהּ׃ ס Habakkuk Hab 2:17 Denn der Frevel, am Libanon begangen, wird dich überfallen, und die verstörten Tiere werden dich schrecken um des Menschenbluts willen und um des Frevels willen, im Lande und in der Stadt und an allen, die darin wohnen, begangen.(dhs) Hab 2:17 For the violence done to Lebanon will cover you, And the plunder of beasts which made them afraid, Because of men's blood And the violence of the land and the city, And of all who dwell in it.(nkjv) ======= Habakkuk 2:18 ============ Hab 2:18 "What profit is the idol when its maker has carved it, Or an image, a teacher of falsehood? To a mute stone, 'Arise!' And that is your teacher?
