Today's Date: ======= Amos 5:1 ============ Amo 5:1 Hear this word which I take up for you as a dirge, O house of Israel: (nas) Amo 5:1 ἀκούσατε τὸν λόγον κυρίου τοῦτον ὃν ἐγὼ λαμβάνω ἐφ᾽ ὑμᾶς θρῆνον οἶκος Ισραηλ (lxx) Amo 5:1 [Audite verbum istud, quod ego levo super vos planctum: domus Israël cecidit, et non adjiciet ut resurgat.(vulgate) Amos 5:1 Heare ye this worde, which I lift vp vpon you, euen a lamentation of the house of Israel.(Geneva) Amo 5:1 Höret, ihr vom Hause Israel, dies Wort! denn ich muß dies Klagelied über euch machen:(dhs) Amo 5:1 Hear this word which I take up against you, a lamentation, O house of Israel:(nkjv) ======= Amos 5:2 ============ Amo 5:2 She has fallen, she will not rise again-- The virgin Israel. She lies neglected on her land; There is none to raise her up. (nas) Amo 5:2 ἔπεσεν οὐκέτι μὴ προσθῇ τοῦ ἀναστῆναι παρθένος τοῦ Ισραηλ ἔσφαλεν ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς αὐτῆς οὐκ ἔστιν ὁ ἀναστήσων αὐτήν (lxx) Amo 5:2 Virgo Israël projecta est in terram suam, non est qui suscitet eam.(vulgate) Amos 5:2 The virgine Israel is fallen, and shall no more rise: shee is left vpon her lande, and there is none to raise her vp.(Geneva) Amo 5:2 Die Jungfrau Israel ist gefallen, daß sie nicht wieder aufstehen wird; sie ist zu Boden gestoßen, und ist niemand, der ihr aufhelfe.(dhs) Amo 5:2 The virgin of Israel has fallen; She will rise no more. She lies forsaken on her land; There is no one to raise her up.(nkjv) ======= Amos 5:3 ============ Amo 5:3 For thus says the Lord God, "The city which goes forth a thousand strong Will have a hundred left, And the one which goes forth a hundred strong Will have ten left to the house of Israel."(nas) Amo 5:3 διότι τάδε λέγει κύριος κύριος ἡ πόλις ἐξ ἧς ἐξεπορεύοντο χίλιοι ὑπολειφθήσονται ἑκατόν καὶ ἐξ ἧς ἐξεπορεύοντο ἑκατόν ὑπολειφθήσονται δέκα τῷ οἴκῳ Ισραηλ (lxx) Amo 5:3 Quia hæc dicit Dominus Deus: Urbs de qua egrediebantur mille, relinquentur in ea centum; et de qua egrediebantur centum, relinquentur in ea decem in domo Israël.(vulgate) Amos 5:3 For thus saith ye Lord God, The citie which went out by a thousand, shal leaue an hundreth: and that which went forth by an hundreth, shal leaue ten to the house of Israel.(Geneva) Amo 5:3 Denn so spricht der HERR HERR: Die Stadt, da tausend ausgehen, soll nur hundert übrig behalten; und da hundert ausgehen, die soll nur zehn übrig behalten im Hause Israel.(dhs) Amo 5:3 For thus says the Lord God: "The city that goes out by a thousand Shall have a hundred left, And that which goes out by a hundred Shall have ten left to the house of Israel."(nkjv) ======= Amos 5:4 ============ Amo 5:4 For thus says the Lord to the house of Israel, "Seek Me that you may live. (nas) Amo 5:4 διότι τάδε λέγει κύριος πρὸς τὸν οἶκον Ισραηλ ἐκζητήσατέ με καὶ ζήσεσθε (lxx) Amo 5:4 Quia hæc dicit Dominus domui Israël: Quærite me, et vivetis.(vulgate) Amos 5:4 For thus saith the Lorde vnto the house of Israel, Seeke ye me, and ye shal liue.(Geneva) Amo 5:4 Darum so spricht der HERR zum Hause Israel: Suchet mich, so werdet ihr leben.(dhs) Amo 5:4 For thus says the Lord to the house of Israel: "Seek Me and live;(nkjv) ======= Amos 5:5 ============ Amo 5:5 "But do not resort to Bethel And do not come to Gilgal, Nor cross over to Beersheba; For Gilgal will certainly go into captivity And Bethel will come to trouble. (nas) Amo 5:5 καὶ μὴ ἐκζητεῖτε Βαιθηλ καὶ εἰς Γαλγαλα μὴ εἰσπορεύεσθε καὶ ἐπὶ τὸ φρέαρ τοῦ ὅρκου μὴ διαβαίνετε ὅτι Γαλγαλα αἰχμαλωτευομένη αἰχμαλωτευθήσεται καὶ Βαιθηλ ἔσται ὡς οὐχ ὑπάρχουσα (lxx) Amo 5:5 Et nolite quærere Bethel, et in Galgalam nolite intrare, et in Bersabee non transibitis, quia Galgala captiva ducetur, et Bethel erit inutilis.(vulgate) Amos 5:5 But seeke not Beth-el, nor enter into Gilgal, & go not to Beer-sheba: for Gilgal shal goe into captiuitie, and Beth-el shal come to nought.(Geneva) Amo 5:5 Suchet nicht Beth-El und kommet nicht gen Gilgal und gehet nicht gen Beer-Seba; den Gilgal wird gefangen weggeführt werden, und Beth-El wird Beth-Aven werden.(dhs) Amo 5:5 But do not seek Bethel, Nor enter Gilgal, Nor pass over to Beersheba; For Gilgal shall surely go into captivity, And Bethel shall come to nothing.(nkjv) ======= Amos 5:6 ============ Amo 5:6 "Seek the Lord that you may live, Or He will break forth like a fire, O house of Joseph, And it will consume with none to quench it for Bethel, (nas) Amo 5:6 ἐκζητήσατε τὸν κύριον καὶ ζήσατε ὅπως μὴ ἀναλάμψῃ ὡς πῦρ ὁ οἶκος Ιωσηφ καὶ καταφάγεται αὐτόν καὶ οὐκ ἔσται ὁ σβέσων τῷ οἴκῳ Ισραηλ (lxx) Amo 5:6 Quærite Dominum, et vivite (ne forte comburatur ut ignis domus Joseph, et devorabit, et non erit qui extinguat Bethel:(vulgate) Amos 5:6 Seeke the Lorde, and yee shal liue, least he breake out like fire in the house of Ioseph & deuoure it, & there be none to quench it in Beth-el.(Geneva) Amo 5:6 Suchet den HERRN, so werdet ihr leben! daß nicht ein Feuer im Hause Joseph überhand nehme, das da verzehre und das niemand löschen könne zu Beth-El;(dhs) Amo 5:6 Seek the Lord and live, Lest He break out like fire in the house of Joseph, And devour it, With no one to quench it in Bethel--(nkjv) ======= Amos 5:7 ============ Amo 5:7 For those who turn justice into wormwood And cast righteousness down to the earth."(nas) Amo 5:7 κύριος ὁ ποιῶν εἰς ὕψος κρίμα καὶ δικαιοσύνην εἰς γῆν ἔθηκεν (lxx) Amo 5:7 qui convertitis in absinthium judicium, et justitiam in terra relinquitis):(vulgate) Amos 5:7 They turne iudgement to wormewood, and leaue off righteousnes in the earth.(Geneva) Amo 5:7 die ihr das Recht in Wermut verkehrt und die Gerechtigkeit zu Boden stoßt.(dhs) Amo 5:7 You who turn justice to wormwood, And lay righteousness to rest in the earth!"(nkjv) ======= Amos 5:8 ============ Amo 5:8 He who made the Pleiades and Orion And changes deep darkness into morning, Who also darkens day into night, Who calls for the waters of the sea And pours them out on the surface of the earth, The Lord is His name. (nas) Amo 5:8 ποιῶν πάντα καὶ μετασκευάζων καὶ ἐκτρέπων εἰς τὸ πρωὶ σκιὰν θανάτου καὶ ἡμέραν εἰς νύκτα συσκοτάζων ὁ προσκαλούμενος τὸ ὕδωρ τῆς θαλάσσης καὶ ἐκχέων αὐτὸ ἐπὶ προσώπου τῆς γῆς κύριος ὁ θεὸς ὁ παντοκράτωρ ὄνομα αὐτῷ (lxx) Amo 5:8 facientem Arcturum et Orionem, et convertentem in mane tenebras, et diem in noctem mutantem; qui vocat aquas maris, et effundit eas super faciem terræ; Dominus nomen est ejus:(vulgate) Amos 5:8 He maketh Pleiades, and Orion, and he turneth the shadowe of death into the morning, and he maketh the day darke as night: he calleth the waters of the sea, and powreth them out vpon the open earth: the Lord is his Name.(Geneva) Amo 5:8 Er machte die Plejaden und den Orion; der aus der Finsternis den Morgen und aus dem Tag die finstere Nacht macht; der dem Wasser im Meer ruft und schüttet es auf den Erdboden: er heißt HERR;(dhs) Amo 5:8 He made the Pleiades and Orion; He turns the shadow of death into morning And makes the day dark as night; He calls for the waters of the sea And pours them out on the face of the earth; The Lord is His name.(nkjv) ======= Amos 5:9 ============ Amo 5:9 It is He who flashes forth with destruction upon the strong, So that destruction comes upon the fortress. (nas) Amo 5:9 ὁ διαιρῶν συντριμμὸν ἐπ᾽ ἰσχὺν καὶ ταλαιπωρίαν ἐπὶ ὀχύρωμα ἐπάγων (lxx) Amo 5:9 qui subridet vastitatem super robustum, et depopulationem super potentem affert.(vulgate) Amos 5:9 He strengtheneth the destroyer against the mightie: and the destroyer shal come against the fortresse.(Geneva) Amo 5:9 der über den Starken eine Verstörung anrichtet und bringt eine Verstörung über die feste Stadt.(dhs) Amo 5:9 He rains ruin upon the strong, So that fury comes upon the fortress.(nkjv) ======= Amos 5:10 ============ Amo 5:10 They hate him who reproves in the gate, And they abhor him who speaks with integrity. (nas) Amo 5:10 ἐμίσησαν ἐν πύλαις ἐλέγχοντα καὶ λόγον ὅσιον ἐβδελύξαντο (lxx) Amo 5:10 Odio habuerunt corripientem in porta, et loquentem perfecte abominati sunt.(vulgate) Amos 5:10 They haue hated him, that rebuked in the gate: and they abhorred him that speaketh vprightly.(Geneva) Amo 5:10 Aber sie sind dem gram, der sie im Tor straft, und halten den für einen Greuel, der heilsam lehrt.(dhs) Amo 5:10 They hate the one who rebukes in the gate, And they abhor the one who speaks uprightly.(nkjv) ======= Amos 5:11 ============ Amo 5:11 Therefore because you impose heavy rent on the poor And exact a tribute of grain from them, Though you have built houses of well-hewn stone, Yet you will not live in them; You have planted pleasant vineyards, yet you will not drink their wine. (nas) Amo 5:11 διὰ τοῦτο ἀνθ᾽ ὧν κατεκονδυλίζετε πτωχοὺς καὶ δῶρα ἐκλεκτὰ ἐδέξασθε παρ᾽ αὐτῶν οἴκους ξυστοὺς ᾠκοδομήσατε καὶ οὐ μὴ κατοικήσητε ἐν αὐτοῖς ἀμπελῶνας ἐπιθυμητοὺς ἐφυτεύσατε καὶ οὐ μὴ πίητε τὸν οἶνον ἐξ αὐτῶν (lxx) Amo 5:11 Idcirco, pro eo quod diripiebatis pauperem, et prædam electam tollebatis ab eo, domos quadro lapide ædificabitis, et non habitabitis in eis; vineas plantabis amantissimas, et non bibetis vinum earum.(vulgate) Amos 5:11 Forasmuch then as your treading is vpon the poore, and yee take from him burdens of wheate, ye haue built houses of hewen stone, but ye shal not dwel in them: ye haue plated pleasant vineyards, but ye shal not drinke wine of them.(Geneva) Amo 5:11 Darum, weil ihr die Armen unterdrückt und nehmt das Korn mit großen Lasten von ihnen, so sollt ihr in den Häusern nicht wohnen, die ihr von Werkstücken gebaut habt, und den Wein nicht trinken, den ihr in den feinen Weinbergen gepflanzt habt.(dhs) Amo 5:11 Therefore, because you tread down the poor And take grain taxes from him, Though you have built houses of hewn stone, Yet you shall not dwell in them; You have planted pleasant vineyards, But you shall not drink wine from them.(nkjv) ======= Amos 5:12 ============ Amo 5:12 For I know your transgressions are many and your sins are great, You who distress the righteous and accept bribes And turn aside the poor in the gate. (nas) Amo 5:12 ὅτι ἔγνων πολλὰς ἀσεβείας ὑμῶν καὶ ἰσχυραὶ αἱ ἁμαρτίαι ὑμῶν καταπατοῦντες δίκαιον λαμβάνοντες ἀλλάγματα καὶ πένητας ἐν πύλαις ἐκκλίνοντες (lxx) Amo 5:12 Quia cognovi multa scelera vestra, et fortia peccata vestra: hostes justi, accipientes munus, et pauperes deprimentes in porta.(vulgate) Amos 5:12 For I know your manifold transgressions, and your mightie sinnes: they afflict the iust, they take rewards, & they oppresse the poore in ye gate.(Geneva) Amo 5:12 Denn ich weiß euer Übertreten, des viel ist, und eure Sünden, die stark sind, wie ihr die Gerechten drängt und Blutgeld nehmt und die Armen im Tor unterdrückt.(dhs) Amo 5:12 For I know your manifold transgressions And your mighty sins: Afflicting the just and taking bribes; Diverting the poor from justice at the gate.(nkjv) ======= Amos 5:13 ============ Amo 5:13 Therefore at such a time the prudent person keeps silent, for it is an evil time. (nas) Amo 5:13 διὰ τοῦτο ὁ συνίων ἐν τῷ καιρῷ ἐκείνῳ σιωπήσεται ὅτι καιρὸς πονηρός ἐστιν (lxx) Amo 5:13 Ideo prudens in tempore illo tacebit, quia tempus malum est.(vulgate) Amos 5:13 Therefore the prudent shal keepe silence in that time, for it is an euill time.(Geneva) Amo 5:13 Darum muß der Kluge zur selben Zeit schweigen; denn es ist eine böse Zeit.(dhs) Amo 5:13 Therefore the prudent keep silent at that time, For it is an evil time.(nkjv) ======= Amos 5:14 ============ Amo 5:14 Seek good and not evil, that you may live; And thus may the Lord God of hosts be with you, Just as you have said! (nas) Amo 5:14 ἐκζητήσατε τὸ καλὸν καὶ μὴ τὸ πονηρόν ὅπως ζήσητε καὶ ἔσται οὕτως μεθ᾽ ὑμῶν κύριος ὁ θεὸς ὁ παντοκράτωρ ὃν τρόπον εἴπατε (lxx) Amo 5:14 Quærite bonum, et non malum, ut vivatis; et erit Dominus Deus exercituum vobiscum, sicut dixistis.(vulgate) Amos 5:14 Seeke good and not euil, that ye may liue: and the Lorde God of hostes shalbe with you, as you haue spoken.(Geneva) Amo 5:14 Suchet das Gute und nicht das Böse, auf daß ihr leben möget, so wird der HERR, der Gott Zebaoth, bei euch sein, wie ihr rühmet.(dhs) Amo 5:14 Seek good and not evil, That you may live; So the Lord God of hosts will be with you, As you have spoken.(nkjv) ======= Amos 5:15 ============ Amo 5:15 Hate evil, love good, And establish justice in the gate! (nas) Amo 5:15 μεμισήκαμεν τὰ πονηρὰ καὶ ἠγαπήκαμεν τὰ καλά καὶ ἀποκαταστήσατε ἐν πύλαις κρίμα ὅπως ἐλεήσῃ κύριος ὁ θεὸς ὁ παντοκράτωρ τοὺς περιλοίπους τοῦ Ιωσηφ (lxx) Amo 5:15 Odite malum et diligite bonum, et constituite in porta judicium: si forte misereatur Dominus Deus exercituum reliquiis Joseph.(vulgate) Amos 5:15 Hate the euil, and loue the good, and establish iudgement in the gate: it may bee that the Lorde God of hostes will be mercifull vnto the remnant of Ioseph.(Geneva) Amo 5:15 Hasset das Böse und liebet das Gute; bestellt das Recht im Tor, so wird der HERR, der Gott Zebaoth, den übrigen in Joseph gnädig sein.(dhs) Amo 5:15 Hate evil, love good; Establish justice in the gate. Alas!' They also call the farmer to mourning And professional mourners to lamentation. (nas) Amo 5:16 διὰ τοῦτο τάδε λέγει κύριος ὁ θεὸς ὁ παντοκράτωρ ἐν πάσαις πλατείαις κοπετός καὶ ἐν πάσαις ὁδοῖς ῥηθήσεται οὐαὶ οὐαί κληθήσεται γεωργὸς εἰς πένθος καὶ κοπετὸν καὶ εἰς εἰδότας θρῆνον (lxx) Amo 5:16 Propterea hæc dicit Dominus Deus exercituum, dominator: In omnibus plateis planctus; et in cunctis quæ foris sunt, dicetur: Væ, væ! et vocabunt agricolam ad luctum, et ad planctum eos qui sciunt plangere.(vulgate) Amos 5:16 Therfore the Lord God of hosts, the Lord saith thus, Mourning shalbe in all streetes: & they shal say in al the hie wayes, Alas, alas: & they shal call the husbandman to lamentation, and such as can mourne, to mourning.(Geneva) Amo 5:16 Darum so spricht der HERR, der Gott Zebaoth, der HERR: Es wird in allen Gassen Wehklagen sein, und auf allen Straßen wird man sagen: "Weh! weh!", und man wird den Ackermann zum Trauern rufen, und zum Wehklagen, wer da weinen kann.(dhs) Amo 5:16 Therefore the Lord God of hosts, the Lord, says this: "There shall be wailing in all streets, And they shall say in all the highways, 'Alas! Alas!' They shall call the farmer to mourning, And skillful lamenters to wailing.(nkjv) ======= Amos 5:17 ============ Amo 5:17 "And in all the vineyards there is wailing, Because I will pass through the midst of you," says the Lord. It will be darkness and not light; (nas) Amo 5:18 οὐαὶ οἱ ἐπιθυμοῦντες τὴν ἡμέραν κυρίου ἵνα τί αὕτη ὑμῖν ἡ ἡμέρα τοῦ κυρίου καὶ αὐτή ἐστιν σκότος καὶ οὐ φῶς (lxx) Amo 5:18 [Væ desiderantibus diem Domini! ad quid eam vobis? Dies Domini ista, tenebræ, et non lux.(vulgate) Amos 5:18 Woe vnto you, that desire the day of the Lord: what haue you to do with it? the day of the Lord is darkenes and not light.(Geneva) Amo 5:18 Weh denen, die des HERRN Tag begehren! Was soll er euch? Denn des HERRN Tag ist Finsternis und nicht Licht.(dhs) Amo 5:18 Woe to you who desire the day of the Lord! For what good is the day of the Lord to you? It will be darkness, and not light.(nkjv) ======= Amos 5:19 ============ Amo 5:19 As when a man flees from a lion And a bear meets him, Or goes home, leans his hand against the wall And a snake bites him. (nas) Amo 5:19 ὃν τρόπον ὅταν φύγῃ ἄνθρωπος ἐκ προσώπου τοῦ λέοντος καὶ ἐμπέσῃ αὐτῷ ἡ ἄρκος καὶ εἰσπηδήσῃ εἰς τὸν οἶκον αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀπερείσηται τὰς χεῖρας αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τὸν τοῖχον καὶ δάκῃ αὐτὸν ὁ ὄφις (lxx) Amo 5:19 Quomodo si fugiat vir a facie leonis, et occurrat ei ursus; et ingrediatur domum, et innitatur manu sua super parietem, et mordeat eum coluber.(vulgate) Amos 5:19 As if a man did flee from a lyon, & a beare met him: or went into the house, and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him.(Geneva) Amo 5:19 Gleich als wenn jemand vor dem Löwen flöhe, und ein Bär begegnete ihm; und er käme in ein Haus und lehnte sich mit der Hand an die Wand, und eine Schlange stäche ihn.(dhs) Amo 5:19 It will be as though a man fled from a lion, And a bear met him! (nas) Amo 5:20 οὐχὶ σκότος ἡ ἡμέρα τοῦ κυρίου καὶ οὐ φῶς καὶ γνόφος οὐκ ἔχων φέγγος αὐτῇ (lxx) Amo 5:20 Numquid non tenebræ dies Domini, et non lux; et caligo, et non splendor in ea?(vulgate) Amos 5:20 Shal not the day of the Lord be darkenes, and not light? euen darkenes and no light in it?(Geneva) Amo 5:20 Denn des HERRN Tag wird ja finster und nicht licht sein, dunkel und nicht hell.(dhs) Amo 5:20 Is not the day of the Lord darkness, and not light? Is it not very dark, with no brightness in it?(nkjv) ======= Amos 5:21 ============ Amo 5:21 "I hate, I reject your festivals, Nor do I delight in your solemn assemblies. (nas) Amo 5:21 μεμίσηκα ἀπῶσμαι ἑορτὰς ὑμῶν καὶ οὐ μὴ ὀσφρανθῶ ἐν ταῖς πανηγύρεσιν ὑμῶν (lxx) Amo 5:21 Odi, et projeci festivitates vestras, et non capiam odorem cœtuum vestrorum.(vulgate) Amos 5:21 I hate and abhorre your feast dayes, and I wil not smell in your solemne assemblies.(Geneva) Amo 5:21 Ich bin euren Feiertagen gram und verachte sie und mag eure Versammlungen nicht riechen.(dhs) Amo 5:21 "I hate, I despise your feast days, And I do not savor your sacred assemblies.(nkjv) ======= Amos 5:22 ============ Amo 5:22 "Even though you offer up to Me burnt offerings and your grain offerings, I will not accept them; And I will not even look at the peace offerings of your fatlings. (nas) Amo 5:22 διότι καὶ ἐὰν ἐνέγκητέ μοι ὁλοκαυτώματα καὶ θυσίας ὑμῶν οὐ προσδέξομαι αὐτά καὶ σωτηρίου ἐπιφανείας ὑμῶν οὐκ ἐπιβλέψομαι (lxx) Amo 5:22 Quod si obtuleritis mihi holocautomata, et munera vestra, non suscipiam; et vota pinguium vestrorum non respiciam.(vulgate) Amos 5:22 Though ye offer me burnt offrings & meat offrings, I wil not accept them: neither will I regard the peace offrings of your fat beasts.(Geneva) Amo 5:22 Und ob ihr mir gleich Brandopfer und Speisopfer opfert so habe ich keinen Gefallen daran; so mag ich auch eure feisten Dankopfer nicht ansehen.(dhs) Amo 5:22 Though you offer Me burnt offerings and your grain offerings, I will not accept them, Nor will I regard your fattened peace offerings.(nkjv) ======= Amos 5:23 ============ Amo 5:23 "Take away from Me the noise of your songs; I will not even listen to the sound of your harps.
