Today's Date: 3/9/2025 ======= Genesis 43:1 ============ Gen 43:1 And the famine was sore in the land.(KJV) Genesis 43:1 Now great famine was in the land.(Geneva) Genèse 43:1 La famine s'appesantissait sur le pays.(FR) 1 ׃43 וְהָרָעָ֖ב כָּבֵ֥ד בָּאָֽרֶץ׃ Genesis Gen 43:1 Now the famine was severe in the land.(nasb) ======= Genesis 43:2 ============ Gen 43:2 And it came to pass, when they had eaten up the corn which they had brought out of Egypt, their father said unto them, Go again, buy us a little food.(KJV) Genesis 43:2 And when they had eaten vp the vitaile, which they had brought from Egypt, their father sayd vnto them, Turne againe, and bye vs a little foode.(Geneva) Genèse 43:2 Quand ils eurent fini de manger le blé qu'ils avaient apporté d'Egypte, Jacob dit à ses fils: Retournez, achetez-nous un peu de vivres.(FR) 2 ׃43 וַיְהִ֗י כַּאֲשֶׁ֤ר כִּלּוּ֙ לֶאֱכֹ֣ל אֶת־הַשֶּׁ֔בֶר אֲשֶׁ֥ר הֵבִ֖יאוּ מִמִּצְרָ֑יִם וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אֲלֵיהֶם֙ אֲבִיהֶ֔ם שֻׁ֖בוּ שִׁבְרוּ־לָ֥נוּ מְעַט־אֹֽכֶל׃ Genesis Gen 43:2 So it came about when they had finished eating the grain which they had brought from Egypt, that their father said to them, "Go back, buy us a little food."(nasb) ======= Genesis 43:3 ============ Gen 43:3 And Judah spake unto him, saying, The man did solemnly protest unto us, saying, Ye shall not see my face, except your brother be with you.(KJV) Genesis 43:3 And Iudah answered him, saying, The man charged vs by an othe, saying, Neuer see my face, except your brother be with you.(Geneva) Genèse 43:3 Juda lui répondit: Cet homme nous a fait cette déclaration formelle: Vous ne verrez pas ma face, à moins que votre frère ne soit avec vous.(FR) 3 ׃43 וַיֹּ֧אמֶר אֵלָ֛יו יְהוּדָ֖ה לֵאמֹ֑ר הָעֵ֣ד הֵעִד֩ בָּ֨נוּ הָאִ֤ישׁ לֵאמֹר֙ לֹֽא־תִרְא֣וּ פָנַ֔י בִּלְתִּ֖י אֲחִיכֶ֥ם אִתְּכֶֽם׃ Genesis Gen 43:3 Judah spoke to him, however, saying, "The man solemnly warned us, 'You shall not see my face unless your brother is with you.'(nasb) ======= Genesis 43:4 ============ Gen 43:4 If thou wilt send our brother with us, we will go down and buy thee food:(KJV) Genesis 43:4 If thou wilt sende our brother with vs, we will goe downe, and bye thee foode:(Geneva) Genèse 43:4 Si donc tu veux envoyer notre frère avec nous, nous descendrons, et nous t'achèterons des vivres.(FR) 4 ׃43 אִם־יֶשְׁךָ֛ מְשַׁלֵּ֥חַ אֶת־אָחִ֖ינוּ אִתָּ֑נוּ נֵרְדָ֕ה וְנִשְׁבְּרָ֥ה לְךָ֖ אֹֽכֶל׃ Genesis Gen 43:4 If you send our brother with us, we will go down and buy you food.(nasb) ======= Genesis 43:5 ============ Gen 43:5 But if thou wilt not send him, we will not go down: for the man said unto us, Ye shall not see my face, except your brother be with you.(KJV) Genesis 43:5 But if thou wilt not send him, we wil not go downe: for the man said vnto vs, Looke me not in the face, except your brother be with you.(Geneva) Genèse 43:5 Mais si tu ne veux pas l'envoyer, nous ne descendrons point, car cet homme nous a dit: Vous ne verrez pas ma face, à moins que votre frère ne soit avec vous.(FR) 5 ׃43 וְאִם־אֵינְךָ֥ מְשַׁלֵּ֖חַ לֹ֣א נֵרֵ֑ד כִּֽי־הָאִ֞ישׁ אָמַ֤ר אֵלֵ֙ינוּ֙ לֹֽא־תִרְא֣וּ פָנַ֔י בִּלְתִּ֖י אֲחִיכֶ֥ם אִתְּכֶֽם׃ Genesis Gen 43:5 But if you do not send him, we will not go down; for the man said to us, 'You will not see my face unless your brother is with you.'"(nasb) ======= Genesis 43:6 ============ Gen 43:6 And Israel said, Wherefore dealt ye so ill with me, as to tell the man whether ye had yet a brother?(KJV) Genesis 43:6 And Israel sayd, Wherefore delt ye so euill with me, as to tell the man, whether ye had yet a brother or no?(Geneva) Genèse 43:6 Israël dit alors: Pourquoi avez-vous mal agi à mon égard, en disant à cet homme que vous aviez encore un frère?(FR) 6 ׃43 וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל לָמָ֥ה הֲרֵעֹתֶ֖ם לִ֑י לְהַגִּ֣יד לָאִ֔ישׁ הַע֥וֹד לָכֶ֖ם אָֽח׃ Genesis Gen 43:6 Then Israel said, "Why did you treat me so badly by telling the man whether you still had another brother?"(nasb) ======= Genesis 43:7 ============ Gen 43:7 And they said, The man asked us straitly of our state, and of our kindred, saying, Is your father yet alive? have ye another brother? and we told him according to the tenor of these words: could we certainly know that he would say, Bring your brother down?(KJV) Genesis 43:7 And they answered, The man asked straitly of our selues and of our kinred, saying, Is your father yet aliue? haue ye any brother? And wee tolde him according to these wordes: could we knowe certainely that he would say, Bring your brother downe?(Geneva) Genèse 43:7 Ils répondirent: Cet homme nous a interrogés sur nous et sur notre famille, en disant: Votre père vit-il encore? avez-vous un frère? Et nous avons répondu à ces questions. Pouvions-nous savoir qu'il dirait: Faites descendre votre frère?(FR) 7 ׃43 וַיֹּאמְר֡וּ שָׁא֣וֹל שָֽׁאַל־הָ֠אִישׁ לָ֣נוּ וּלְמֽוֹלַדְתֵּ֜נוּ לֵאמֹ֗ר הַע֨וֹד אֲבִיכֶ֥ם חַי֙ הֲיֵ֣שׁ לָכֶ֣ם אָ֔ח וַנַ֨גֶּד־ל֔וֹ עַל־פִּ֖י הַדְּבָרִ֣ים הָאֵ֑לֶּה הֲיָד֣וֹעַ נֵדַ֔ע כִּ֣י יֹאמַ֔ר הוֹרִ֖ידוּ אֶת־אֲחִיכֶֽם׃ Genesis Gen 43:7 But they said, "The man questioned particularly about us and our relatives, saying, 'Is your father still alive? Have you another brother?' So we answered his questions. Could we possibly know that he would say, 'Bring your brother down'?"(nasb) ======= Genesis 43:8 ============ Gen 43:8 And Judah said unto Israel his father, Send the lad with me, and we will arise and go; that we may live, and not die, both we, and thou, and also our little ones.(KJV) Genesis 43:8 Then sayde Iudah to Israel his father, Send the boy with mee, that we may rise and goe, and that we may liue and not dye, both we, and thou, and our children.(Geneva) Genèse 43:8 Juda dit à Israël, son père: Laisse venir l'enfant avec moi, afin que nous nous levions et que nous partions; et nous vivrons et ne mourrons pas, nous, toi, et nos enfants.(FR) 8 ׃43 וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהוּדָ֜ה אֶל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֣ל אָבִ֗יו שִׁלְחָ֥ה הַנַּ֛עַר אִתִּ֖י וְנָק֣וּמָה וְנֵלֵ֑כָה וְנִֽחְיֶה֙ וְלֹ֣א נָמ֔וּת גַּם־אֲנַ֥חְנוּ גַם־אַתָּ֖ה גַּם־טַפֵּֽנוּ׃ Genesis Gen 43:8 Judah said to his father Israel, "Send the lad with me and we will arise and go, that we may live and not die, we as well as you and our little ones.(nasb) ======= Genesis 43:9 ============ Gen 43:9 I will be surety for him; of my hand shalt thou require him: if I bring him not unto thee, and set him before thee, then let me bear the blame for ever:(KJV) Genesis 43:9 I wil be suertie for him: of mine hand shalt thou require him. If I bring him not to thee, and set him before thee, then let me beare the blame for euer.(Geneva) Genèse 43:9 Je réponds de lui; tu le redemanderas de ma main. Si je ne le ramène pas auprès de toi et si je ne le remets pas devant ta face, je serai pour toujours coupable envers toi.(FR) 9 ׃43 אָֽנֹכִי֙ אֽ͏ֶעֶרְבֶ֔נּוּ מִיָּדִ֖י תְּבַקְשֶׁ֑נּוּ אִם־לֹ֨א הֲבִיאֹתִ֤יו אֵלֶ֙יךָ֙ וְהִצַּגְתִּ֣יו לְפָנֶ֔יךָ וְחָטָ֥אתִֽי לְךָ֖ כָּל־הַיָּמִֽים׃ Genesis Gen 43:9 I myself will be surety for him; you may hold me responsible for him. If I do not bring him back to you and set him before you, then let me bear the blame before you forever.(nasb) ======= Genesis 43:10 ============ Gen 43:10 For except we had lingered, surely now we had returned this second time.(KJV) Genesis 43:10 For except we had made this tarying, doutlesse by this we had returned the second time.(Geneva) Genèse 43:10 Car si nous n'eussions pas tardé, nous serions maintenant deux fois de retour.(FR) 10 ׃43 כִּ֖י לוּלֵ֣א הִתְמַהְמָ֑הְנוּ כִּֽי־עַתָּ֥ה שַׁ֖בְנוּ זֶ֥ה פַעֲמָֽיִם׃ Genesis Gen 43:10 For if we had not delayed, surely by now we could have returned twice."(nasb) ======= Genesis 43:11 ============ Gen 43:11 And their father Israel said unto them, If it must be so now, do this; take of the best fruits in the land in your vessels, and carry down the man a present, a little balm, and a little honey, spices, and myrrh, nuts, and almonds:(KJV) Genesis 43:11 Then their father Israel sayd vnto them, If it must needes be so now, do thus: take of the best fruites of the lande in your vessels, and bring the man a present, a little rosen, & a little hony, spices and myrrhe, nuttes, and almondes:(Geneva) Genèse 43:11 Israël, leur père, leur dit: Puisqu'il le faut, faites ceci. Prenez dans vos sacs des meilleures productions du pays, pour en porter un présent à cet homme, un peu de baume et un peu de miel, des aromates, de la myrrhe, des pistaches et des amandes.(FR) 11 ׃43 וַיֹּ֨אמֶר אֲלֵהֶ֜ם יִשְׂרָאֵ֣ל אֲבִיהֶ֗ם אִם־כֵּ֣ן ׀ אֵפוֹא֮ זֹ֣את עֲשׂוּ֒ קְח֞וּ מִזִּמְרַ֤ת הָאָ֙רֶץ֙ בִּכְלֵיכֶ֔ם וְהוֹרִ֥ידוּ לָאִ֖ישׁ מִנְחָ֑ה מְעַ֤ט צֳרִי֙ וּמְעַ֣ט דְּבַ֔שׁ נְכֹ֣את וָלֹ֔ט בָּטְנִ֖ים וּשְׁקֵדִֽים׃ Genesis Gen 43:11 Then their father Israel said to them, "If it must be so, then do this: take some of the best products of the land in your bags, and carry down to the man as a present, a little balm and a little honey, aromatic gum and myrrh, pistachio nuts and almonds.(nasb) ======= Genesis 43:12 ============ Gen 43:12 And take double money in your hand; and the money that was brought again in the mouth of your sacks, carry it again in your hand; peradventure it was an oversight:(KJV) Genesis 43:12 And take double money in your hande, and the money, that was brought againe in your sackes mouthes: cary it againe in your hand, lest it were some ouersight.(Geneva) Genèse 43:12 Prenez avec vous de l'argent au double, et remportez l'argent qu'on avait mis à l'entrée de vos sacs: peut-être était-ce une erreur.(FR) 12 ׃43 וְכֶ֥סֶף מִשְׁנֶ֖ה קְח֣וּ בְיֶדְכֶ֑ם וְאֶת־הַכֶּ֜סֶף הַמּוּשָׁ֨ב בְּפִ֤י אַמְתְּחֹֽתֵיכֶם֙ תָּשִׁ֣יבוּ בְיֶדְכֶ֔ם אוּלַ֥י מִשְׁגֶּ֖ה הֽוּא׃ Genesis Gen 43:12 Take double the money in your hand, and take back in your hand the money that was returned in the mouth of your sacks; perhaps it was a mistake.(nasb) ======= Genesis 43:13 ============ Gen 43:13 Take also your brother, and arise, go again unto the man:(KJV) Genesis 43:13 Take also your brother and arise, and go againe to the man.(Geneva) Genèse 43:13 Prenez votre frère, et levez-vous; retournez vers cet homme.(FR) 13 ׃43 וְאֶת־אֲחִיכֶ֖ם קָ֑חוּ וְק֖וּמוּ שׁ֥וּבוּ אֶל־הָאִֽישׁ׃ Genesis Gen 43:13 Take your brother also, and arise, return to the man;(nasb) ======= Genesis 43:14 ============ Gen 43:14 And God Almighty give you mercy before the man, that he may send away your other brother, and Benjamin. If I be bereaved of my children, I am bereaved.(KJV) Genesis 43:14 And God almightie giue you mercie in the sight of the man, that hee may deliuer you your other brother, and Beniamin: but I shall be robbed of my childe, as I haue bene.(Geneva) Genèse 43:14 Que le Dieu tout-puissant vous fasse trouver grâce devant cet homme, et qu'il laisse revenir avec vous votre autre frère et Benjamin! Et moi, si je dois être privé de mes enfants, que j'en sois privé!(FR) 14 ׃43 וְאֵ֣ל שַׁדַּ֗י יִתֵּ֨ן לָכֶ֤ם רַחֲמִים֙ לִפְנֵ֣י הָאִ֔ישׁ וְשִׁלַּ֥ח לָכֶ֛ם אֶת־אֲחִיכֶ֥ם אַחֵ֖ר וְאֶת־בִּנְיָמִ֑ין וַאֲנִ֕י כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר שָׁכֹ֖לְתִּי שָׁכָֽלְתִּי׃ Genesis Gen 43:14 and may God Almighty grant you compassion in the sight of the man, so that he will release to you your other brother and Benjamin. And as for me, if I am bereaved of my children, I am bereaved."(nasb) ======= Genesis 43:15 ============ Gen 43:15 And the men took that present, and they took double money in their hand and Benjamin; and rose up, and went down to Egypt, and stood before Joseph.(KJV) Genesis 43:15 Thus the men tooke this present, & tooke twise so much money in their hande with Beniamin, and rose vp, and went downe to Egypt and stoode before Ioseph.(Geneva) Genèse 43:15 Ils prirent le présent; ils prirent avec eux de l'argent au double, ainsi que Benjamin; ils se levèrent, descendirent en Egypte, et se présentèrent devant Joseph.(FR) 15 ׃43 וַיִּקְח֤וּ הָֽאֲנָשִׁים֙ אֶת־הַמִּנְחָ֣ה הַזֹּ֔את וּמִשְׁנֶה־כֶּ֛סֶף לָקְח֥וּ בְיָדָ֖ם וְאֶת־בִּנְיָמִ֑ן וַיָּקֻ֙מוּ֙ וַיֵּרְד֣וּ מִצְרַ֔יִם וַיַּֽעַמְד֖וּ לִפְנֵ֥י יוֹסֵֽף׃ Genesis Gen 43:15 So the men took this present, and they took double the money in their hand, and Benjamin; then they arose and went down to Egypt and stood before Joseph. (nasb) ======= Genesis 43:16 ============ Gen 43:16 And when Joseph saw Benjamin with them, he said to the ruler of his house, Bring these men home, and slay, and make ready; for these men shall dine with me at noon.(KJV) Genesis 43:16 And whe Ioseph saw Beniamin with them, he sayde to his stewarde, Bring these men home and kill meate, and make ready: for the men shal eate with me at noone.(Geneva) Genèse 43:16 Dès que Joseph vit avec eux Benjamin, il dit à son intendant: Fais entrer ces gens dans la maison, tue et apprête; car ces gens mangeront avec moi à midi.(FR) 16 ׃43 וַיַּ֨רְא יוֹסֵ֣ף אִתָּם֮ אֶת־בִּנְיָמִין֒ וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ לַֽאֲשֶׁ֣ר עַל־בֵּית֔וֹ הָבֵ֥א אֶת־הָאֲנָשִׁ֖ים הַבָּ֑יְתָה וּטְבֹ֤חַ טֶ֙בַח֙ וְהָכֵ֔ן כִּ֥י אִתִּ֛י יֹאכְל֥וּ הָאֲנָשִׁ֖ים בַּֽצָּהֳרָֽיִם׃ Genesis Gen 43:16 When Joseph saw Benjamin with them, he said to his house steward, "Bring the men into the house, and slay an animal and make ready; for the men are to dine with me at noon."(nasb) ======= Genesis 43:17 ============ Gen 43:17 And the man did as Joseph bade; and the man brought the men into Joseph's house.(KJV) Genesis 43:17 And the man did as Ioseph bad, & brought the men vnto Iosephs house.(Geneva) Genèse 43:17 Cet homme fit ce que Joseph avait ordonné, et il conduisit ces gens dans la maison de Joseph.(FR) 17 ׃43 וַיַּ֣עַשׂ הָאִ֔ישׁ כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֖ר אָמַ֣ר יוֹסֵ֑ף וַיָּבֵ֥א הָאִ֛ישׁ אֶת־הָאֲנָשִׁ֖ים בֵּ֥יתָה יוֹסֵֽף׃ Genesis Gen 43:17 So the man did as Joseph said, and brought the men to Joseph's house.(nasb) ======= Genesis 43:18 ============ Gen 43:18 And the men were afraid, because they were brought into Joseph's house; and they said, Because of the money that was returned in our sacks at the first time are we brought in; that he may seek occasion against us, and fall upon us, and take us for bondmen, and our asses.(KJV) Genesis 43:18 Nowe when the men were brought into Iosephs house, they were afrayd, & sayd, Because of the money, that came in our sackes mouthes at the first time, are we brought, that hee may picke a quarrell against vs, and lay some thing to our charge, and bring vs in bondage and our asses.(Geneva) Genèse 43:18 Ils eurent peur lorsqu'ils furent conduits à la maison de Joseph, et ils dirent: C'est à cause de l'argent remis l'autre fois dans nos sacs qu'on nous emmène; c'est pour se jeter sur nous, se précipiter sur nous; c'est pour nous prendre comme esclaves, et s'emparer de nos ânes.(FR) 18 ׃43 וַיִּֽירְא֣וּ הָֽאֲנָשִׁ֗ים כִּ֣י הֽוּבְאוּ֮ בֵּ֣ית יוֹסֵף֒ וַיֹּאמְר֗וּ עַל־דְּבַ֤ר הַכֶּ֙סֶף֙ הַשָּׁ֤ב בְּאַמְתְּחֹתֵ֙ינוּ֙ בַּתְּחִלָּ֔ה אֲנַ֖חְנוּ מֽוּבָאִ֑ים לְהִתְגֹּלֵ֤ל עָלֵ֙ינוּ֙ וּלְהִתְנַפֵּ֣ל עָלֵ֔ינוּ וְלָקַ֧חַת אֹתָ֛נוּ לַעֲבָדִ֖ים וְאֶת־חֲמֹרֵֽינוּ׃ Genesis Gen 43:18 Now the men were afraid, because they were brought to Joseph's house; and they said, "It is because of the money that was returned in our sacks the first time that we are being brought in, that he may seek occasion against us and fall upon us, and take us for slaves with our donkeys."(nasb) ======= Genesis 43:19 ============ Gen 43:19 And they came near to the steward of Joseph's house, and they communed with him at the door of the house,(KJV) Genesis 43:19 Therefore came they to Iosephs stewarde, & communed with him at the doore of ye house.(Geneva) Genèse 43:19 Ils s'approchèrent de l'intendant de la maison de Joseph, et lui adressèrent la parole, à l'entrée de la maison.(FR) 19 ׃43 וַֽיִּגְּשׁוּ֙ אֶל־הָאִ֔ישׁ אֲשֶׁ֖ר עַל־בֵּ֣ית יוֹסֵ֑ף וַיְדַבְּר֥וּ אֵלָ֖יו פֶּ֥תַח הַבָּֽיִת׃ Genesis Gen 43:19 So they came near to Joseph's house steward, and spoke to him at the entrance of the house,(nasb) ======= Genesis 43:20 ============ Gen 43:20 And said, O sir, we came indeed down at the first time to buy food:(KJV) Genesis 43:20 And said, Oh syr, we came in deede down hither at the first time to bye foode,(Geneva) Genèse 43:20 Ils dirent: Pardon! mon seigneur, nous sommes déjà descendus une fois pour acheter des vivres.(FR) 20 ׃43 וַיֹּאמְר֖וּ בִּ֣י אֲדֹנִ֑י יָרֹ֥ד יָרַ֛דְנוּ בַּתְּחִלָּ֖ה לִשְׁבָּר־אֹֽכֶל׃ Genesis Gen 43:20 and said, "Oh, my lord, we indeed came down the first time to buy food,(nasb) ======= Genesis 43:21 ============ Gen 43:21 And it came to pass, when we came to the inn, that we opened our sacks, and, behold, every man's money was in the mouth of his sack, our money in full weight: and we have brought it again in our hand.(KJV) Genesis 43:21 And as wee came to an ynne and opened our sackes, behold, euery mans money was in his sackes mouth, euen our money in full weight, but we haue brought it againe in our handes.(Geneva) Genèse 43:21 Puis, quand nous arrivâmes, au lieu où nous devions passer la nuit, nous avons ouvert nos sacs; et voici, l'argent de chacun était à l'entrée de son sac, notre argent selon son poids: nous le rapportons avec nous.(FR) 21 ׃43 וַֽיְהִ֞י כִּי־בָ֣אנוּ אֶל־הַמָּל֗וֹן וַֽנִּפְתְּחָה֙ אֶת־אַמְתְּחֹתֵ֔ינוּ וְהִנֵּ֤ה כֶֽסֶף־אִישׁ֙ בְּפִ֣י אַמְתַּחְתּ֔וֹ כַּסְפֵּ֖נוּ בְּמִשְׁקָל֑וֹ וַנָּ֥שֶׁב אֹת֖וֹ בְּיָדֵֽנוּ׃ Genesis Gen 43:21 and it came about when we came to the lodging place, that we opened our sacks, and behold, each man's money was in the mouth of his sack, our money in full. So we have brought it back in our hand.(nasb) ======= Genesis 43:22 ============ Gen 43:22 And other money have we brought down in our hands to buy food: we cannot tell who put our money in our sacks.(KJV) Genesis 43:22 Also other money haue we brought in our handes to bye foode, but we cannot tell, who put our money in our sackes.(Geneva) Genèse 43:22 Nous avons aussi apporté d'autre argent, pour acheter des vivres. Nous ne savons pas qui avait mis notre argent dans nos sacs.(FR) 22 ׃43 וְכֶ֧סֶף אַחֵ֛ר הוֹרַ֥דְנוּ בְיָדֵ֖נוּ לִשְׁבָּר־אֹ֑כֶל לֹ֣א יָדַ֔עְנוּ מִי־שָׂ֥ם כַּסְפֵּ֖נוּ בְּאַמְתְּחֹתֵֽינוּ׃ Genesis Gen 43:22 We have also brought down other money in our hand to buy food; we do not know who put our money in our sacks."(nasb) ======= Genesis 43:23 ============ Gen 43:23 And he said, Peace be to you, fear not: your God, and the God of your father, hath given you treasure in your sacks: I had your money. And he brought Simeon out unto them.(KJV) Genesis 43:23 And he said, Peace be vnto you, feare not: your God and the God of your father hath giuen you that treasure in your sackes, I had your money: and he brought forth Simeon to them.(Geneva) Genèse 43:23 L'intendant répondit: Que la paix soit avec vous! Ne craignez rien. C'est votre Dieu, le Dieu de votre père, qui vous a donné un trésor dans vos sacs. Votre argent m'est parvenu. Your God and the God of your father has given you treasure in your sacks; I had your money." So they feasted and drank freely with him.
