And he was in the house of his master, the Egyptian.(nasb) ======= Genesis 39:3 ============ Gen 39:3 And his master saw that the LORD was with him, and that the LORD made all that he did to prosper in his hand.(KJV) Genesis 39:3 And his master sawe that the Lorde was with him, and that the Lorde made all that hee did to prosper in his hande.(Geneva) Genèse 39:3 Son maître vit que l'Eternel était avec lui, et que l'Eternel faisait prospérer entre ses mains tout ce qu'il entreprenait.(FR) 3 ׃39 וַיַּ֣רְא אֲדֹנָ֔יו כִּ֥י יְהוָ֖ה אִתּ֑וֹ וְכֹל֙ אֲשֶׁר־ה֣וּא עֹשֶׂ֔ה יְהוָ֖ה מַצְלִ֥יחַ בְּיָדֽוֹ׃ Genesis Gen 39:3 Now his master saw that the Lord was with him and how the Lord caused all that he did to prosper in his hand.(nasb) ======= Genesis 39:4 ============ Gen 39:4 And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him: and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand.(KJV) Genesis 39:4 So Ioseph founde fauour in his sight, and serued him: and he made him ruler of his house, and put all that he had in his hand.(Geneva) Genèse 39:4 Joseph trouva grâce aux yeux de son maître, qui l'employa à son service, l'établit sur sa maison, et lui confia tout ce qu'il possédait.(FR) 4 ׃39 וַיִּמְצָ֨א יוֹסֵ֥ף חֵ֛ן בְּעֵינָ֖יו וַיְשָׁ֣רֶת אֹת֑וֹ וַיַּפְקִדֵ֙הוּ֙ עַל־בֵּית֔וֹ וְכָל־יֶשׁ־ל֖וֹ נָתַ֥ן בְּיָדֽוֹ׃ Genesis Gen 39:4 So Joseph found favor in his sight and became his personal servant; and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he owned he put in his charge.(nasb) ======= Genesis 39:5 ============ Gen 39:5 And it came to pass from the time that he had made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that the LORD blessed the Egyptian's house for Joseph's sake; and the blessing of the LORD was upon all that he had in the house, and in the field.(KJV) Genesis 39:5 And from that time that he had made him ruler ouer his house and ouer all that he had, the Lorde blessed the Egyptians house for Iosephs sake: and the blessing of the Lorde was vpon all that he had in the house, and in the fielde.(Geneva) Genèse 39:5 Dès que Potiphar l'eut établi sur sa maison et sur tout ce qu'il possédait, l'Eternel bénit la maison de l'Egyptien, à cause de Joseph; et la bénédiction de l'Eternel fut sur tout ce qui lui appartenait, soit à la maison, soit aux champs.(FR) 5 ׃39 וַיְהִ֡י מֵאָז֩ הִפְקִ֨יד אֹת֜וֹ בְּבֵית֗וֹ וְעַל֙ כָּל־אֲשֶׁ֣ר יֶשׁ־ל֔וֹ וַיְבָ֧רֶךְ יְהוָ֛ה אֶת־בֵּ֥ית הַמִּצְרִ֖י בִּגְלַ֣ל יוֹסֵ֑ף וַיְהִ֞י בִּרְכַּ֤ת יְהוָה֙ בְּכָל־אֲשֶׁ֣ר יֶשׁ־ל֔וֹ בַּבַּ֖יִת וּבַשָּׂדֶֽה׃ Genesis Gen 39:5 It came about that from the time he made him overseer in his house and over all that he owned, the Lord blessed the Egyptian's house on account of Joseph; thus the Lord's blessing was upon all that he owned, in the house and in the field.(nasb) ======= Genesis 39:6 ============ Gen 39:6 And he left all that he had in Joseph's hand; and he knew not ought he had, save the bread which he did eat. And Joseph was a goodly person, and well favoured.(KJV) Genesis 39:6 Therefore he left all that he had in Iosephs hand, and tooke accompt of nothing, that was with him, saue onely of the bread, which he did eate; Ioseph was a faire person, and well fauoured.(Geneva) Genèse 39:6 Il abandonna aux mains de Joseph tout ce qui lui appartenait, et il n'avait avec lui d'autre soin que celui de prendre sa nourriture. Or, Joseph était beau de taille et beau de figure.(FR) 6 ׃39 וַיַּעֲזֹ֣ב כָּל־אֲשֶׁר־לוֹ֮ בְּיַד־יוֹסֵף֒ וְלֹא־יָדַ֤ע אִתּוֹ֙ מְא֔וּמָה כִּ֥י אִם־הַלֶּ֖חֶם אֲשֶׁר־ה֣וּא אוֹכֵ֑ל וַיְהִ֣י יוֹסֵ֔ף יְפֵה־תֹ֖אַר וִיפֵ֥ה מַרְאֶֽה׃ Genesis Gen 39:6 So he left everything he owned in Joseph's charge; and with him there he did not concern himself with anything except the food which he ate. Now Joseph was handsome in form and appearance.(nasb) ======= Genesis 39:7 ============ Gen 39:7 And it came to pass after these things, that his master's wife cast her eyes upon Joseph; and she said, Lie with me.(KJV) Genesis 39:7 Nowe therefore after these thinges, his masters wife cast her eyes vpon Ioseph, and saide, Lye with me.(Geneva) Genèse 39:7 Après ces choses, il arriva que la femme de son maître porta les yeux sur Joseph, et dit: Couche avec moi!(FR) 7 ׃39 וַיְהִ֗י אַחַר֙ הַדְּבָרִ֣ים הָאֵ֔לֶּה וַתִּשָּׂ֧א אֵֽשֶׁת־אֲדֹנָ֛יו אֶת־עֵינֶ֖יהָ אֶל־יוֹסֵ֑ף וַתֹּ֖אמֶר שִׁכְבָ֥ה עִמִּֽי׃ Genesis Gen 39:7 It came about after these events that his master's wife looked with desire at Joseph, and she said, "Lie with me."(nasb) ======= Genesis 39:8 ============ Gen 39:8 But he refused, and said unto his master's wife, Behold, my master wotteth not what is with me in the house, and he hath committed all that he hath to my hand;(KJV) Genesis 39:8 But he refused and said to his masters wife, Beholde, my master knoweth not what he hath in the house with me, but hath committed all that he hath to mine hande.(Geneva) Genèse 39:8 Il refusa, et dit à la femme de son maître: Voici, mon maître ne prend avec moi connaissance de rien dans la maison, et il a remis entre mes mains tout ce qui lui appartient.(FR) 8 ׃39 וַיְמָאֵ֓ן ׀ וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ אֶל־אֵ֣שֶׁת אֲדֹנָ֔יו הֵ֣ן אֲדֹנִ֔י לֹא־יָדַ֥ע אִתִּ֖י מַה־בַּבָּ֑יִת וְכֹ֥ל אֲשֶׁר־יֶשׁ־ל֖וֹ נָתַ֥ן בְּיָדִֽי׃ Genesis Gen 39:8 But he refused and said to his master's wife, "Behold, with me here, my master does not concern himself with anything in the house, and he has put all that he owns in my charge.(nasb) ======= Genesis 39:9 ============ Gen 39:9 There is none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back any thing from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?(KJV) Genesis 39:9 There is no ma greater in this house then I: neither hath he kept any thing from me, but only thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickednes & so sinne against God?(Geneva) Genèse 39:9 Il n'est pas plus grand que moi dans cette maison, et il ne m'a rien interdit, excepté toi, parce que tu es sa femme. Comment ferais-je un aussi grand mal et pécherais-je contre Dieu?(FR) 9 ׃39 אֵינֶ֨נּוּ גָד֜וֹל בַּבַּ֣יִת הַזֶּה֮ מִמֶּנִּי֒ וְלֹֽא־חָשַׂ֤ךְ מִמֶּ֙נִּי֙ מְא֔וּמָה כִּ֥י אִם־אוֹתָ֖ךְ בַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר אַתְּ־אִשְׁתּ֑וֹ וְאֵ֨יךְ אֶֽעֱשֶׂ֜ה הָרָעָ֤ה הַגְּדֹלָה֙ הַזֹּ֔את וְחָטָ֖אתִי לֵֽאלֹהִֽים׃ Genesis Gen 39:9 There is no one greater in this house than I, and he has withheld nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. How then could I do this great evil and sin against God?"(nasb) ======= Genesis 39:10 ============ Gen 39:10 And it came to pass, as she spake to Joseph day by day, that he hearkened not unto her, to lie by her, or to be with her.(KJV) Genesis 39:10 And albeit she spake to Ioseph day by day, yet he hearkened not vnto her, to lye with her, or to be in her company.(Geneva) Genèse 39:10 Quoiqu'elle parlât tous les jours à Joseph, il refusa de coucher auprès d'elle, d'être avec elle.(FR) 10 ׃39 וַיְהִ֕י כְּדַבְּרָ֥הּ אֶל־יוֹסֵ֖ף י֣וֹם ׀ י֑וֹם וְלֹא־שָׁמַ֥ע אֵלֶ֛יהָ לִשְׁכַּ֥ב אֶצְלָ֖הּ לִהְי֥וֹת עִמָּֽהּ׃ Genesis Gen 39:10 As she spoke to Joseph day after day, he did not listen to her to lie beside her or be with her.(nasb) ======= Genesis 39:11 ============ Gen 39:11 And it came to pass about this time, that Joseph went into the house to do his business; and there was none of the men of the house there within.(KJV) Genesis 39:11 Then on a certaine day Ioseph entred into the house, to doe his businesse: and there was no man of the houshold in the house:(Geneva) Genèse 39:11 Un jour qu'il était entré dans la maison pour faire son ouvrage, et qu'il n'y avait là aucun des gens de la maison,(FR) 11 ׃39 וַיְהִי֙ כְּהַיּ֣וֹם הַזֶּ֔ה וַיָּבֹ֥א הַבַּ֖יְתָה לַעֲשׂ֣וֹת מְלַאכְתּ֑וֹ וְאֵ֨ין אִ֜ישׁ מֵאַנְשֵׁ֥י הַבַּ֛יִת שָׁ֖ם בַּבָּֽיִת׃ Genesis Gen 39:11 Now it happened one day that he went into the house to do his work, and none of the men of the household was there inside.(nasb) ======= Genesis 39:12 ============ Gen 39:12 And she caught him by his garment, saying, Lie with me: and he left his garment in her hand, and fled, and got him out.(KJV) Genesis 39:12 Therefore she caught him by his garmet, saying, Sleepe with me: but he left his garment in her hand and fled, and got him out.(Geneva) Genèse 39:12 elle le saisit par son vêtement, en disant: Couche avec moi! Il lui laissa son vêtement dans la main, et s'enfuit au dehors.(FR) 12 ׃39 וַתִּתְפְּשֵׂ֧הוּ בְּבִגְד֛וֹ לֵאמֹ֖ר שִׁכְבָ֣ה עִמִּ֑י וַיַּעֲזֹ֤ב בִּגְדוֹ֙ בְּיָדָ֔הּ וַיָּ֖נָס וַיֵּצֵ֥א הַחֽוּצָה׃ Genesis Gen 39:12 She caught him by his garment, saying, "Lie with me!" And he left his garment in her hand and fled, and went outside.(nasb) ======= Genesis 39:13 ============ Gen 39:13 And it came to pass, when she saw that he had left his garment in her hand, and was fled forth,(KJV) Genesis 39:13 Nowe when she sawe that he had left his garment in her hand, and was fled out,(Geneva) Genèse 39:13 Lorsqu'elle vit qu'il lui avait laissé son vêtement dans la main, et qu'il s'était enfui dehors,(FR) 13 ׃39 וַיְהִי֙ כִּרְאוֹתָ֔הּ כִּֽי־עָזַ֥ב בִּגְד֖וֹ בְּיָדָ֑הּ וַיָּ֖נָס הַחֽוּצָה׃ Genesis Gen 39:13 When she saw that he had left his garment in her hand and had fled outside,(nasb) ======= Genesis 39:14 ============ Gen 39:14 That she called unto the men of her house, and spake unto them, saying, See, he hath brought in an Hebrew unto us to mock us; he came in unto me to lie with me, and I cried with a loud voice:(KJV) Genesis 39:14 She called vnto the men of her house, and tolde them, saying, Beholde, he hath brought in an Ebrewe vnto vs to mocke vs: who came in to me for to haue slept with me: but I cryed with a loude voyce.(Geneva) Genèse 39:14 elle appela les gens de sa maison, et leur dit: Voyez, il nous a amené un Hébreu pour se jouer de nous. Cet homme est venu vers moi pour coucher avec moi; mais j'ai crié à haute voix.(FR) 14 ׃39 וַתִּקְרָ֞א לְאַנְשֵׁ֣י בֵיתָ֗הּ וַתֹּ֤אמֶר לָהֶם֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר רְא֗וּ הֵ֥בִיא לָ֛נוּ אִ֥ישׁ עִבְרִ֖י לְצַ֣חֶק בָּ֑נוּ בָּ֤א אֵלַי֙ לִשְׁכַּ֣ב עִמִּ֔י וָאֶקְרָ֖א בְּק֥וֹל גָּדֽוֹל׃ Genesis Gen 39:14 she called to the men of her household and said to them, "See, he has brought in a Hebrew to us to make sport of us; he came in to me to lie with me, and I screamed.(nasb) ======= Genesis 39:15 ============ Gen 39:15 And it came to pass, when he heard that I lifted up my voice and cried, that he left his garment with me, and fled, and got him out.(KJV) Genesis 39:15 And when he heard that I lift vp my voice and cryed, he left his garment with me, and fled away, and got him out.(Geneva) Genèse 39:15 Et quand il a entendu que j'élevais la voix et que je criais, il a laissé son vêtement à côté de moi et s'est enfui dehors.(FR) 15 ׃39 וַיְהִ֣י כְשָׁמְע֔וֹ כִּֽי־הֲרִימֹ֥תִי קוֹלִ֖י וָאֶקְרָ֑א וַיַּעֲזֹ֤ב בִּגְדוֹ֙ אֶצְלִ֔י וַיָּ֖נָס וַיֵּצֵ֥א הַחֽוּצָה׃ Genesis Gen 39:15 When he heard that I raised my voice and screamed, he left his garment beside me and fled and went outside."(nasb) ======= Genesis 39:16 ============ Gen 39:16 And she laid up his garment by her, until his lord came home.(KJV) Genesis 39:16 So she layde vp his garment by her, vntill her lord came home.(Geneva) Genèse 39:16 Et elle posa le vêtement de Joseph à côté d'elle, jusqu'à ce que son maître rentrât à la maison.(FR) 16 ׃39 וַתַּנַּ֥ח בִּגְד֖וֹ אֶצְלָ֑הּ עַד־בּ֥וֹא אֲדֹנָ֖יו אֶל־בֵּיתֽוֹ׃ Genesis Gen 39:16 So she left his garment beside her until his master came home.(nasb) ======= Genesis 39:17 ============ Gen 39:17 And she spake unto him according to these words, saying, The Hebrew servant, which thou hast brought unto us, came in unto me to mock me:(KJV) Genesis 39:17 Then she tolde him according to these words, saying, The Ebrew seruat, which thou hast brought vnto vs, came in to me, to mocke me.(Geneva) Genèse 39:17 Alors elle lui parla ainsi: L'esclave hébreu que tu nous as amené est venu vers moi pour se jouer de moi.(FR) 17 ׃39 וַתְּדַבֵּ֣ר אֵלָ֔יו כַּדְּבָרִ֥ים הָאֵ֖לֶּה לֵאמֹ֑ר בָּֽא־אֵלַ֞י הָעֶ֧בֶד הָֽעִבְרִ֛י אֲשֶׁר־הֵבֵ֥אתָ לָּ֖נוּ לְצַ֥חֶק בִּֽי׃ Genesis Gen 39:17 Then she spoke to him with these words, "The Hebrew slave, whom you brought to us, came in to me to make sport of me;(nasb) ======= Genesis 39:18 ============ Gen 39:18 And it came to pass, as I lifted up my voice and cried, that he left his garment with me, and fled out.(KJV) Genesis 39:18 But assoone as I lift vp my voyce & cried, he left his garment with me, and fled out.(Geneva) Genèse 39:18 Et comme j'ai élevé la voix et que j'ai crié, il a laissé son vêtement à côté de moi et s'est enfui dehors.(FR) 18 ׃39 וַיְהִ֕י כַּהֲרִימִ֥י קוֹלִ֖י וָאֶקְרָ֑א וַיַּעֲזֹ֥ב בִּגְד֛וֹ אֶצְלִ֖י וַיָּ֥נָס הַחֽוּצָה׃ Genesis Gen 39:18 and as I raised my voice and screamed, he left his garment beside me and fled outside." (nasb) ======= Genesis 39:19 ============ Gen 39:19 And it came to pass, when his master heard the words of his wife, which she spake unto him, saying, After this manner did thy servant to me; that his wrath was kindled.(KJV) Genesis 39:19 Then when his master heard the wordes of his wife, which she tolde him, saying, After this maner did thy seruant to me, his anger was kindled.(Geneva) Genèse 39:19 Après avoir entendu les paroles de sa femme, qui lui disait: Voilà ce que m'a fait ton esclave! le maître de Joseph fut enflammé de colère.(FR) 19 ׃39 וַיְהִי֩ כִשְׁמֹ֨עַ אֲדֹנָ֜יו אֶת־דִּבְרֵ֣י אִשְׁתּ֗וֹ אֲשֶׁ֨ר דִּבְּרָ֤ה אֵלָיו֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר כַּדְּבָרִ֣ים הָאֵ֔לֶּה עָ֥שָׂה[t] לִ֖י עַבְדֶּ֑ךָ וַיִּ֖חַר אַפּֽוֹ׃ Genesis Gen 39:19 Now when his master heard the words of his wife, which she spoke to him, saying, "This is what your slave did to me, "his anger burned.(nasb) ======= Genesis 39:20 ============ Gen 39:20 And Joseph's master took him, and put him into the prison, a place where the king's prisoners were bound: and he was there in the prison.(KJV) Genesis 39:20 And Iosephs master tooke him and put him in prison, in the place, where the kings prisoners lay bounde: and there he was in prison.(Geneva) Genèse 39:20 Il prit Joseph, et le mit dans la prison, dans le lieu où les prisonniers du roi étaient enfermés: il fut là, en prison.(FR) 20 ׃39 וַיִּקַּח֩ אֲדֹנֵ֨י יוֹסֵ֜ף אֹת֗וֹ וַֽיִּתְּנֵ֙הוּ֙ אֶל־בֵּ֣ית הַסֹּ֔הַר מְק֕וֹם אֲשֶׁר־*אסורי **אֲסִירֵ֥י הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ אֲסוּרִ֑ים וֽ͏ַיְהִי־שָׁ֖ם בְּבֵ֥ית הַסֹּֽהַר׃ Genesis Gen 39:20 So Joseph's master took him and put him into the jail, the place where the king's prisoners were confined; and he was there in the jail.(nasb) ======= Genesis 39:21 ============ Gen 39:21 But the LORD was with Joseph, and shewed him mercy, and gave him favour in the sight of the keeper of the prison.(KJV) Genesis 39:21 But the Lorde was with Ioseph, and shewed him mercie, and got him fauour in the sight of the master of the prison.(Geneva) Genèse 39:21 L'Eternel fut avec Joseph, et il étendit sur lui sa bonté. Il le mit en faveur aux yeux du chef de la prison.(FR) 21 ׃39 וַיְהִ֤י יְהוָה֙ אֶת־יוֹסֵ֔ף וַיֵּ֥ט אֵלָ֖יו חָ֑סֶד וַיִּתֵּ֣ן חִנּ֔וֹ בְּעֵינֵ֖י שַׂ֥ר בֵּית־הַסֹּֽהַר׃ Genesis Gen 39:21 But the Lord was with Joseph and extended kindness to him, and gave him favor in the sight of the chief jailer.(nasb) ======= Genesis 39:22 ============ Gen 39:22 And the keeper of the prison committed to Joseph's hand all the prisoners that were in the prison; and whatsoever they did there, he was the doer of it.(KJV) Genesis 39:22 And the keeper of the prison committed to Iosephs hande all the prisoners that were in the prison, and whatsoeuer they did there, that did he.(Geneva) Genèse 39:22 Et le chef de la prison plaça sous sa surveillance tous les prisonniers qui étaient dans la prison; et rien ne s'y faisait que par lui.(FR) 22 ׃39 וַיִּתֵּ֞ן שַׂ֤ר בֵּית־הַסֹּ֙הַר֙ בְּיַד־יוֹסֵ֔ף אֵ֚ת כָּל־הָ֣אֲסִירִ֔ם אֲשֶׁ֖ר בְּבֵ֣ית הַסֹּ֑הַר וְאֵ֨ת כָּל־אֲשֶׁ֤ר עֹשִׂים֙ שָׁ֔ם ה֖וּא הָיָ֥ה עֹשֶֽׂה׃ Genesis Gen 39:22 The chief jailer committed to Joseph's charge all the prisoners who were in the jail; so that whatever was done there, he was responsible for it.(nasb) ======= Genesis 39:23 ============ Gen 39:23 The keeper of the prison looked not to any thing that was under his hand; because the LORD was with him, and that which he did, the LORD made it to prosper.(kjv) Genesis 39:23 And the keeper of the prison looked vnto nothing that was vnder his hande, seeing that the Lord was with him: for whatsoeuer he did, the Lorde made it to prosper.(Geneva) Genèse 39:23 Le chef de la prison ne prenait aucune connaissance de ce que Joseph avait en main, parce que l'Eternel était avec lui.
