Today's Date: ======= Amos 5:1 ============ Amo 5:1 Hear this word which I take up for you as a dirge, O house of Israel:(nasb) Amo 5:1 [Audite verbum istud, quod ego levo super vos planctum: domus Israël cecidit, et non adjiciet ut resurgat.(vulgate) Amós 5:1 Oíd esta palabra que yo levanto por lamentación sobre vosotros, oh casa de Israel.(E) Amos 5:1 Ecoutez cette parole, Cette complainte que je prononce sur vous, Maison d'Israël!(F) Amo 5:1 Höret, ihr vom Hause Israel, dies Wort! denn ich muß dies Klagelied über euch machen:(D) Amo 5:1 ἀκούσατε τὸν λόγον κυρίου τοῦτον ὃν ἐγὼ λαμβάνω ἐφ᾽ ὑμᾶς θρῆνον οἶκος Ισραηλ(lxx) Amo 5:1 Hear this word which I take up against you, a lamentation, O house of Israel:(nkjv) ======= Amos 5:2 ============ Amo 5:2 She has fallen, she will not rise again-- The virgin Israel. She lies neglected on her land; There is none to raise her up.(nasb) Amo 5:2 Virgo Israël projecta est in terram suam, non est qui suscitet eam.(vulgate) Amós 5:2 Cayó la virgen de Israel, y no podrá levantarse ya más; fue dejada sobre su tierra, no [hay] quien la levante.(E) Amos 5:2 Elle est tombée, elle ne se relèvera plus, La vierge d'Israël; Elle est couchée par terre, Nul ne la relève.(F) Amo 5:2 Die Jungfrau Israel ist gefallen, daß sie nicht wieder aufstehen wird; sie ist zu Boden gestoßen, und ist niemand, der ihr aufhelfe.(D) Amo 5:2 ἔπεσεν οὐκέτι μὴ προσθῇ τοῦ ἀναστῆναι παρθένος τοῦ Ισραηλ ἔσφαλεν ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς αὐτῆς οὐκ ἔστιν ὁ ἀναστήσων αὐτήν(lxx) Amo 5:2 The virgin of Israel has fallen; She will rise no more. She lies forsaken on her land; There is no one to raise her up.(nkjv) ======= Amos 5:3 ============ Amo 5:3 For thus says the Lord God, "The city which goes forth a thousand strong Will have a hundred left, And the one which goes forth a hundred strong Will have ten left to the house of Israel."(nasb) Amo 5:3 Quia hæc dicit Dominus Deus: Urbs de qua egrediebantur mille, relinquentur in ea centum; et de qua egrediebantur centum, relinquentur in ea decem in domo Israël.(vulgate) Amós 5:3 Porque así ha dicho el Señor Jehová a la casa de Israel: La ciudad que salía con mil, quedará con cien; y la que salía con cien, quedará con diez.(E) Amos 5:3 Car ainsi parle le Seigneur, l'Eternel: La ville qui mettait en campagne mille hommes N'en conservera que cent, Et celle qui mettait en campagne cent hommes N'en conservera que dix, pour la maison d'Israël.(F) Amo 5:3 Denn so spricht der HERR HERR: Die Stadt, da tausend ausgehen, soll nur hundert übrig behalten; und da hundert ausgehen, die soll nur zehn übrig behalten im Hause Israel.(D) Amo 5:3 διότι τάδε λέγει κύριος κύριος ἡ πόλις ἐξ ἧς ἐξεπορεύοντο χίλιοι ὑπολειφθήσονται ἑκατόν καὶ ἐξ ἧς ἐξεπορεύοντο ἑκατόν ὑπολειφθήσονται δέκα τῷ οἴκῳ Ισραηλ(lxx) Amo 5:3 For thus says the Lord God: "The city that goes out by a thousand Shall have a hundred left, And that which goes out by a hundred Shall have ten left to the house of Israel."(nkjv) ======= Amos 5:4 ============ Amo 5:4 For thus says the Lord to the house of Israel, "Seek Me that you may live.(nasb) Amo 5:4 Quia hæc dicit Dominus domui Israël: Quærite me, et vivetis.(vulgate) Amós 5:4 Mas así dice Jehová a la casa de Israel: Buscadme, y viviréis;(E) Amos 5:4 Car ainsi parle l'Eternel à la maison d'Israël: Cherchez-moi, et vous vivrez!(F) Amo 5:4 Darum so spricht der HERR zum Hause Israel: Suchet mich, so werdet ihr leben.(D) Amo 5:4 διότι τάδε λέγει κύριος πρὸς τὸν οἶκον Ισραηλ ἐκζητήσατέ με καὶ ζήσεσθε(lxx) Amo 5:4 For thus says the Lord to the house of Israel: "Seek Me and live;(nkjv) ======= Amos 5:5 ============ Amo 5:5 "But do not resort to Bethel And do not come to Gilgal, Nor cross over to Beersheba; For Gilgal will certainly go into captivity And Bethel will come to trouble.(nasb) Amo 5:5 Et nolite quærere Bethel, et in Galgalam nolite intrare, et in Bersabee non transibitis, quia Galgala captiva ducetur, et Bethel erit inutilis.(vulgate) Amós 5:5 y no busquéis a Betel ni entréis en Gilgal, ni paséis a Beerseba: porque ciertamente Gilgal será llevada en cautiverio, y Betel será deshecha.(E) Amos 5:5 Ne cherchez pas Béthel, N'allez pas à Guilgal, Ne passez pas à Beer-Schéba. Car Guilgal sera captif, Et Béthel anéanti.(F) Amo 5:5 Suchet nicht Beth-El und kommet nicht gen Gilgal und gehet nicht gen Beer-Seba; den Gilgal wird gefangen weggeführt werden, und Beth-El wird Beth-Aven werden.(D) Amo 5:5 καὶ μὴ ἐκζητεῖτε Βαιθηλ καὶ εἰς Γαλγαλα μὴ εἰσπορεύεσθε καὶ ἐπὶ τὸ φρέαρ τοῦ ὅρκου μὴ διαβαίνετε ὅτι Γαλγαλα αἰχμαλωτευομένη αἰχμαλωτευθήσεται καὶ Βαιθηλ ἔσται ὡς οὐχ ὑπάρχουσα(lxx) Amo 5:5 But do not seek Bethel, Nor enter Gilgal, Nor pass over to Beersheba; For Gilgal shall surely go into captivity, And Bethel shall come to nothing.(nkjv) ======= Amos 5:6 ============ Amo 5:6 "Seek the Lord that you may live, Or He will break forth like a fire, O house of Joseph, And it will consume with none to quench it for Bethel,(nasb) Amo 5:6 Quærite Dominum, et vivite (ne forte comburatur ut ignis domus Joseph, et devorabit, et non erit qui extinguat Bethel:(vulgate) Amós 5:6 Buscad a Jehová, y vivid; no sea que Él acometa como fuego a la casa de José y la consuma, sin haber en Betel quien lo apague.(E) Amos 5:6 Cherchez l'Eternel, et vous vivrez! Craignez qu'il ne saisisse comme un feu la maison de Joseph, Et que ce feu ne la dévore, sans personne à Béthel pour l'éteindre,(F) Amo 5:6 Suchet den HERRN, so werdet ihr leben! daß nicht ein Feuer im Hause Joseph überhand nehme, das da verzehre und das niemand löschen könne zu Beth-El;(D) Amo 5:6 ἐκζητήσατε τὸν κύριον καὶ ζήσατε ὅπως μὴ ἀναλάμψῃ ὡς πῦρ ὁ οἶκος Ιωσηφ καὶ καταφάγεται αὐτόν καὶ οὐκ ἔσται ὁ σβέσων τῷ οἴκῳ Ισραηλ(lxx) Amo 5:6 Seek the Lord and live, Lest He break out like fire in the house of Joseph, And devour it, With no one to quench it in Bethel--(nkjv) ======= Amos 5:7 ============ Amo 5:7 For those who turn justice into wormwood And cast righteousness down to the earth."(nasb) Amo 5:7 qui convertitis in absinthium judicium, et justitiam in terra relinquitis):(vulgate) Amós 5:7 Los que convertís en ajenjo el juicio, y echáis por tierra la justicia,(E) Amos 5:7 O vous qui changez le droit en absinthe, Et qui foulez à terre la justice!(F) Amo 5:7 die ihr das Recht in Wermut verkehrt und die Gerechtigkeit zu Boden stoßt.(D) Amo 5:7 κύριος ὁ ποιῶν εἰς ὕψος κρίμα καὶ δικαιοσύνην εἰς γῆν ἔθηκεν(lxx) Amo 5:7 You who turn justice to wormwood, And lay righteousness to rest in the earth!"(nkjv) ======= Amos 5:8 ============ Amo 5:8 He who made the Pleiades and Orion And changes deep darkness into morning, Who also darkens day into night, Who calls for the waters of the sea And pours them out on the surface of the earth, The Lord is His name.(nasb) Amo 5:8 facientem Arcturum et Orionem, et convertentem in mane tenebras, et diem in noctem mutantem; qui vocat aquas maris, et effundit eas super faciem terræ; Dominus nomen est ejus:(vulgate) Amós 5:8 buscad al que hace las Pléyades y el Orión, y las tinieblas vuelve en mañana, y hace oscurecer el día en noche; el que llama a las aguas del mar, y las derrama sobre la faz de la tierra: Jehová es su nombre.(E) Amos 5:8 Il a créé les Pléiades et l'Orion, Il change les ténèbres en aurore, Il obscurcit le jour pour en faire la nuit, Il appelle les eaux de la mer, Et les répand à la surface de la terre: L'Eternel est son nom.(F) Amo 5:8 Er machte die Plejaden und den Orion; der aus der Finsternis den Morgen und aus dem Tag die finstere Nacht macht; der dem Wasser im Meer ruft und schüttet es auf den Erdboden: er heißt HERR;(D) Amo 5:8 ποιῶν πάντα καὶ μετασκευάζων καὶ ἐκτρέπων εἰς τὸ πρωὶ σκιὰν θανάτου καὶ ἡμέραν εἰς νύκτα συσκοτάζων ὁ προσκαλούμενος τὸ ὕδωρ τῆς θαλάσσης καὶ ἐκχέων αὐτὸ ἐπὶ προσώπου τῆς γῆς κύριος ὁ θεὸς ὁ παντοκράτωρ ὄνομα αὐτῷ(lxx) Amo 5:8 He made the Pleiades and Orion; He turns the shadow of death into morning And makes the day dark as night; He calls for the waters of the sea And pours them out on the face of the earth; The Lord is His name.(nkjv) ======= Amos 5:9 ============ Amo 5:9 It is He who flashes forth with destruction upon the strong, So that destruction comes upon the fortress.(nasb) Amo 5:9 qui subridet vastitatem super robustum, et depopulationem super potentem affert.(vulgate) Amós 5:9 Que da fuerzas al despojado sobre el fuerte, de modo que el despojado venga contra la fortaleza.(E) Amos 5:9 Il fait lever la ruine sur les puissants, Et la ruine vient sur les forteresses.(F) Amo 5:9 der über den Starken eine Verstörung anrichtet und bringt eine Verstörung über die feste Stadt.(D) Amo 5:9 ὁ διαιρῶν συντριμμὸν ἐπ᾽ ἰσχὺν καὶ ταλαιπωρίαν ἐπὶ ὀχύρωμα ἐπάγων(lxx) Amo 5:9 He rains ruin upon the strong, So that fury comes upon the fortress.(nkjv) ======= Amos 5:10 ============ Amo 5:10 They hate him who reproves in the gate, And they abhor him who speaks with integrity.(nasb) Amo 5:10 Odio habuerunt corripientem in porta, et loquentem perfecte abominati sunt.(vulgate) Amós 5:10 Ellos aborrecen en la puerta de la ciudad al que reprende, y abominan al que habla lo recto.(E) Amos 5:10 Ils haïssent celui qui les reprend à la porte, Et ils ont en horreur celui qui parle sincèrement.(F) Amo 5:10 Aber sie sind dem gram, der sie im Tor straft, und halten den für einen Greuel, der heilsam lehrt.(D) Amo 5:10 ἐμίσησαν ἐν πύλαις ἐλέγχοντα καὶ λόγον ὅσιον ἐβδελύξαντο(lxx) Amo 5:10 They hate the one who rebukes in the gate, And they abhor the one who speaks uprightly.(nkjv) ======= Amos 5:11 ============ Amo 5:11 Therefore because you impose heavy rent on the poor And exact a tribute of grain from them, Though you have built houses of well-hewn stone, Yet you will not live in them; You have planted pleasant vineyards, yet you will not drink their wine.(nasb) Amo 5:11 Idcirco, pro eo quod diripiebatis pauperem, et prædam electam tollebatis ab eo, domos quadro lapide ædificabitis, et non habitabitis in eis; vineas plantabis amantissimas, et non bibetis vinum earum.(vulgate) Amós 5:11 Por tanto, pues que vejáis al pobre y recibís de él carga de trigo; edificasteis casas de piedra labrada, mas no las habitaréis; plantasteis hermosas viñas, mas no beberéis el vino de ellas.(E) Amos 5:11 Aussi, parce que vous avez foulé le misérable, Et que vous avez pris de lui du blé en présent, Vous avez bâti des maisons en pierres de taille, Mais vous ne les habiterez pas; Vous avez planté d'excellentes vignes, Mais vous n'en boirez pas le vin.(F) Amo 5:11 Darum, weil ihr die Armen unterdrückt und nehmt das Korn mit großen Lasten von ihnen, so sollt ihr in den Häusern nicht wohnen, die ihr von Werkstücken gebaut habt, und den Wein nicht trinken, den ihr in den feinen Weinbergen gepflanzt habt.(D) Amo 5:11 διὰ τοῦτο ἀνθ᾽ ὧν κατεκονδυλίζετε πτωχοὺς καὶ δῶρα ἐκλεκτὰ ἐδέξασθε παρ᾽ αὐτῶν οἴκους ξυστοὺς ᾠκοδομήσατε καὶ οὐ μὴ κατοικήσητε ἐν αὐτοῖς ἀμπελῶνας ἐπιθυμητοὺς ἐφυτεύσατε καὶ οὐ μὴ πίητε τὸν οἶνον ἐξ αὐτῶν(lxx) Amo 5:11 Therefore, because you tread down the poor And take grain taxes from him, Though you have built houses of hewn stone, Yet you shall not dwell in them; You have planted pleasant vineyards, But you shall not drink wine from them.(nkjv) ======= Amos 5:12 ============ Amo 5:12 For I know your transgressions are many and your sins are great, You who distress the righteous and accept bribes And turn aside the poor in the gate.(nasb) Amo 5:12 Quia cognovi multa scelera vestra, et fortia peccata vestra: hostes justi, accipientes munus, et pauperes deprimentes in porta.(vulgate) Amós 5:12 Porque he sabido vuestras muchas rebeliones, y vuestros grandes pecados: que afligen al justo, y reciben cohecho, y a los pobres en la puerta hacen perder su causa.(E) Amos 5:12 Car, je le sais, vos crimes sont nombreux, Vos péchés se sont multipliés; Vous opprimez le juste, vous recevez des présents, Et vous violez à la porte le droit des pauvres.(F) Amo 5:12 Denn ich weiß euer Übertreten, des viel ist, und eure Sünden, die stark sind, wie ihr die Gerechten drängt und Blutgeld nehmt und die Armen im Tor unterdrückt.(D) Amo 5:12 ὅτι ἔγνων πολλὰς ἀσεβείας ὑμῶν καὶ ἰσχυραὶ αἱ ἁμαρτίαι ὑμῶν καταπατοῦντες δίκαιον λαμβάνοντες ἀλλάγματα καὶ πένητας ἐν πύλαις ἐκκλίνοντες(lxx) Amo 5:12 For I know your manifold transgressions And your mighty sins: Afflicting the just and taking bribes; Diverting the poor from justice at the gate.(nkjv) ======= Amos 5:13 ============ Amo 5:13 Therefore at such a time the prudent person keeps silent, for it is an evil time.(nasb) Amo 5:13 Ideo prudens in tempore illo tacebit, quia tempus malum est.(vulgate) Amós 5:13 Por tanto, el prudente en tal tiempo calla, porque el tiempo es malo.(E) Amos 5:13 Voilà pourquoi, en des temps comme ceux-ci, le sage se tait; Car ces temps sont mauvais.(F) Amo 5:13 Darum muß der Kluge zur selben Zeit schweigen; denn es ist eine böse Zeit.(D) Amo 5:13 διὰ τοῦτο ὁ συνίων ἐν τῷ καιρῷ ἐκείνῳ σιωπήσεται ὅτι καιρὸς πονηρός ἐστιν(lxx) Amo 5:13 Therefore the prudent keep silent at that time, For it is an evil time.(nkjv) ======= Amos 5:14 ============ Amo 5:14 Seek good and not evil, that you may live; And thus may the Lord God of hosts be with you, Just as you have said!(nasb) Amo 5:14 Quærite bonum, et non malum, ut vivatis; et erit Dominus Deus exercituum vobiscum, sicut dixistis.(vulgate) Amós 5:14 Buscad lo bueno, y no lo malo, para que viváis; porque así Jehová Dios de los ejércitos será con vosotros, como decís.(E) Amos 5:14 Recherchez le bien et non le mal, afin que vous viviez, Et qu'ainsi l'Eternel, le Dieu des armées, soit avec vous, Comme vous le dites.(F) Amo 5:14 Suchet das Gute und nicht das Böse, auf daß ihr leben möget, so wird der HERR, der Gott Zebaoth, bei euch sein, wie ihr rühmet.(D) Amo 5:14 ἐκζητήσατε τὸ καλὸν καὶ μὴ τὸ πονηρόν ὅπως ζήσητε καὶ ἔσται οὕτως μεθ᾽ ὑμῶν κύριος ὁ θεὸς ὁ παντοκράτωρ ὃν τρόπον εἴπατε(lxx) Amo 5:14 Seek good and not evil, That you may live; So the Lord God of hosts will be with you, As you have spoken.(nkjv) ======= Amos 5:15 ============ Amo 5:15 Hate evil, love good, And establish justice in the gate! Perhaps the Lord God of hosts May be gracious to the remnant of Joseph.(nasb) Amo 5:15 Odite malum et diligite bonum, et constituite in porta judicium: si forte misereatur Dominus Deus exercituum reliquiis Joseph.(vulgate) Amós 5:15 Aborreced el mal, y amad el bien, y poned juicio en la puerta; quizá Jehová, Dios de los ejércitos, tendrá piedad del remanente de José.(E) Amos 5:15 Haïssez le mal et aimez le bien, Faites régner à la porte la justice; Et peut-être l'Eternel, le Dieu des armées, aura pitié Des restes de Joseph.(F) Amo 5:15 Hasset das Böse und liebet das Gute; bestellt das Recht im Tor, so wird der HERR, der Gott Zebaoth, den übrigen in Joseph gnädig sein.(D) Amo 5:15 μεμισήκαμεν τὰ πονηρὰ καὶ ἠγαπήκαμεν τὰ καλά καὶ ἀποκαταστήσατε ἐν πύλαις κρίμα ὅπως ἐλεήσῃ κύριος ὁ θεὸς ὁ παντοκράτωρ τοὺς περιλοίπους τοῦ Ιωσηφ(lxx) Amo 5:15 Hate evil, love good; Establish justice in the gate. It may be that the Lord God of hosts Will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph.(nkjv) ======= Amos 5:16 ============ Amo 5:16 Therefore thus says the Lord God of hosts, the Lord, "There is wailing in all the plazas, And in all the streets they say, 'Alas! Alas!' They also call the farmer to mourning And professional mourners to lamentation.(nasb) Amo 5:16 Propterea hæc dicit Dominus Deus exercituum, dominator: In omnibus plateis planctus; et in cunctis quæ foris sunt, dicetur: Væ, væ! et vocabunt agricolam ad luctum, et ad planctum eos qui sciunt plangere.(vulgate) Amós 5:16 Por tanto, así dice Jehová, Dios de los ejércitos, el Señor: En todas las plazas habrá llanto, y en todas las calles dirán: ¡Ay! ¡Ay! Y al labrador llamarán a lloro, y a endecha a los que saben endechar.(E) Amos 5:16 C'est pourquoi ainsi parle l'Eternel, le Dieu des armées, le Seigneur; Dans toutes les places on se lamentera, Dans toutes les rues on dira: Hélas! hélas! On appellera le laboureur au deuil, Et aux lamentations ceux qui disent des complaintes.(F) Amo 5:16 Darum so spricht der HERR, der Gott Zebaoth, der HERR: Es wird in allen Gassen Wehklagen sein, und auf allen Straßen wird man sagen: "Weh! weh!", und man wird den Ackermann zum Trauern rufen, und zum Wehklagen, wer da weinen kann.(D) Amo 5:16 διὰ τοῦτο τάδε λέγει κύριος ὁ θεὸς ὁ παντοκράτωρ ἐν πάσαις πλατείαις κοπετός καὶ ἐν πάσαις ὁδοῖς ῥηθήσεται οὐαὶ οὐαί κληθήσεται γεωργὸς εἰς πένθος καὶ κοπετὸν καὶ εἰς εἰδότας θρῆνον(lxx) Amo 5:16 Therefore the Lord God of hosts, the Lord, says this: "There shall be wailing in all streets, And they shall say in all the highways, 'Alas! Alas!' They shall call the farmer to mourning, And skillful lamenters to wailing.(nkjv) ======= Amos 5:17 ============ Amo 5:17 "And in all the vineyards there is wailing, Because I will pass through the midst of you," says the Lord.(nasb) Amo 5:17 Et in omnibus vineis erit planctus, quia pertransibo in medio tui, dicit Dominus.]~(vulgate) Amós 5:17 Y en todas las viñas [habrá] llanto; porque pasaré por en medio de ti, dice Jehová.(E) Amos 5:17 Dans toutes les vignes on se lamentera, Lorsque je passerai au milieu de toi, dit l'Eternel.(F) Amo 5:17 In allen Weinbergen wird Wehklagen sein; denn ich will unter euch fahren, spricht der HERR.(D) Amo 5:17 καὶ ἐν πάσαις ὁδοῖς κοπετός διότι διελεύσομαι διὰ μέσου σου εἶπεν κύριος(lxx) Amo 5:17 In all vineyards there shall be wailing, For I will pass through you," Says the Lord.(nkjv) ======= Amos 5:18 ============ Amo 5:18 Alas, you who are longing for the day of the Lord, For what purpose will the day of the Lord be to you? It will be darkness and not light;(nasb) Amo 5:18 [Væ desiderantibus diem Domini! ad quid eam vobis? Dies Domini ista, tenebræ, et non lux.(vulgate) Amós 5:18 ¡Ay de los que desean el día de Jehová! ¿Para qué queréis este día de Jehová? [Será] de tinieblas, y no de luz:(E) Amos 5:18 Malheur à ceux qui désirent le jour de l'Eternel! Qu'attendez-vous du jour de l'Eternel? Il sera ténèbres et non lumière.(F) Amo 5:18 Weh denen, die des HERRN Tag begehren! Was soll er euch? Denn des HERRN Tag ist Finsternis und nicht Licht.(D) Amo 5:18 οὐαὶ οἱ ἐπιθυμοῦντες τὴν ἡμέραν κυρίου ἵνα τί αὕτη ὑμῖν ἡ ἡμέρα τοῦ κυρίου καὶ αὐτή ἐστιν σκότος καὶ οὐ φῶς(lxx) Amo 5:18 Woe to you who desire the day of the Lord! For what good is the day of the Lord to you?
