Et mittentes vocabant tres sorores suas, ut comederent et biberent cum eis.(vulgate) Job 1:4 And his sonnes went & banketted in their houses, euery one his day, and sent, & called their three sisters to eate and to drinke with them.(Geneva) Job 1:4 Und seine Söhne gingen und machten ein Mahl, ein jeglicher in seinem Hause auf seinen Tag, und sandten hin und luden ihre drei Schwestern, mit ihnen zu essen und zu trinken.(dhs) Job 1:4 And his sons would go and feast in their houses, each on his appointed day, and would send and invite their three sisters to eat and drink with them.(nkjv) ======= Job 1:5 ============ Job 1:5 When the days of feasting had completed their cycle, Job would send and consecrate them, rising up early in the morning and offering burnt offerings according to the number of them all; for Job said, "Perhaps my sons have sinned and cursed God in their hearts." Thus Job did continually.(nas) Job 1:5 καὶ ὡς ἂν συνετελέσθησαν αἱ ἡμέραι τοῦ πότου ἀπέστελλεν Ιωβ καὶ ἐκαθάριζεν αὐτοὺς ἀνιστάμενος τὸ πρωὶ καὶ προσέφερεν περὶ αὐτῶν θυσίας κατὰ τὸν ἀριθμὸν αὐτῶν καὶ μόσχον ἕνα περὶ ἁμαρτίας περὶ τῶν ψυχῶν αὐτῶν ἔλεγεν γὰρ Ιωβ μήποτε οἱ υἱοί μου ἐν τῇ διανοίᾳ αὐτῶν κακὰ ἐνενόησαν πρὸς θεόν οὕτως οὖν ἐποίει Ιωβ πάσας τὰς ἡμέρας (lxx) Job 1:5 Cumque in orbem transissent dies convivii, mittebat ad eos Job, et sanctificabat illos: consurgensque diluculo, offerebat holocausta pro singulis. Dicebat enim: Ne forte peccaverint filii mei, et benedixerint Deo in cordibus suis. Sic faciebat Job cunctis diebus.~(vulgate) Job 1:5 And when the dayes of their banketting were gone about, Iob sent, and sanctified them, and rose vp early in the morning, and offred burnt offrings according to the nomber of them all. For Iob thought, It may be that my sonnes haue sinned, & blasphemed God in their hearts: thus did Iob euery day.(Geneva) Job 1:5 Und wenn die Tage des Mahls um waren, sandte Hiob hin und heiligte sie und machte sich des Morgens früh auf und opferte Brandopfer nach ihrer aller Zahl; denn Hiob gedachte: Meine Söhne möchten gesündigt und Gott abgesagt haben in ihrem Herzen. Also tat Hiob allezeit.(dhs) Job 1:5 So it was, when the days of feasting had run their course, that Job would send and sanctify them, and he would rise early in the morning and offer burnt offerings according to the number of them all. Then Satan answered the Lord and said, "From roaming about on the earth and walking around on it."(nas) Job 1:7 καὶ εἶπεν ὁ κύριος τῷ διαβόλῳ πόθεν παραγέγονας καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς ὁ διάβολος τῷ κυρίῳ εἶπεν περιελθὼν τὴν γῆν καὶ ἐμπεριπατήσας τὴν ὑπ᾽ οὐρανὸν πάρειμι (lxx) Job 1:7 Cui dixit Dominus: Unde venis? Qui respondens, ait: Circuivi terram, et perambulavi eam.(vulgate) Job 1:7 Then the Lord sayde vnto Satan, Whence commest thou? And Satan answered the Lord, saying, From compassing the earth to and fro, and from walking in it.(Geneva) Job 1:7 Der HERR aber sprach zu dem Satan: Wo kommst du her? Satan antwortete dem HERRN und sprach: Ich habe das Land umher durchzogen.(dhs) Job 1:7 And the Lord said to Satan, "From where do you come?" So Satan answered the Lord and said, "From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking back and forth on it."(nkjv) ======= Job 1:8 ============ Job 1:8 The Lord said to Satan, "Have you considered My servant Job? For there is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, fearing God and turning away from evil."(nas) Job 1:8 καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ ὁ κύριος προσέσχες τῇ διανοίᾳ σου κατὰ τοῦ παιδός μου Ιωβ ὅτι οὐκ ἔστιν κατ᾽ αὐτὸν τῶν ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς ἄνθρωπος ἄμεμπτος ἀληθινός θεοσεβής ἀπεχόμενος ἀπὸ παντὸς πονηροῦ πράγματος (lxx) Job 1:8 Dixitque Dominus ad eum: Numquid considerasti servum meum Job, quod non sit ei similis in terra, homo simplex et rectus, ac timens Deum, et recedens a malo?(vulgate) Job 1:8 And the Lord saide vnto Satan, Hast thou not considered my seruant Iob, how none is like him in the earth? an vpright and iust man, one that feareth God, and escheweth euill?(Geneva) Job 1:8 Der HERR sprach zu Satan: Hast du nicht achtgehabt auf meinen Knecht Hiob? Denn es ist seinesgleichen nicht im Lande, schlecht und recht, gottesfürchtig und meidet das Böse.(dhs) Job 1:8 Then the Lord said to Satan, "Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil?"(nkjv) ======= Job 1:9 ============ Job 1:9 Then Satan answered the Lord, "Does Job fear God for nothing?(nas) Job 1:9 ἀπεκρίθη δὲ ὁ διάβολος καὶ εἶπεν ἐναντίον τοῦ κυρίου μὴ δωρεὰν σέβεται Ιωβ τὸν θεόν (lxx) Job 1:9 Cui respondens Satan, ait: Numquid Job frustra timet Deum?(vulgate) Job 1:9 Then Satan answered the Lord, and sayde, Doeth Iob feare God for nought?(Geneva) Job 1:9 Der Satan antwortete dem HERRN und sprach: Meinst du, daß Hiob umsonst Gott fürchtet?(dhs) Job 1:9 So Satan answered the Lord and said, "Does Job fear God for nothing?(nkjv) ======= Job 1:10 ============ Job 1:10 Have You not made a hedge about him and his house and all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land.(nas) Job 1:10 οὐ σὺ περιέφραξας τὰ ἔξω αὐτοῦ καὶ τὰ ἔσω τῆς οἰκίας αὐτοῦ καὶ τὰ ἔξω πάντων τῶν ὄντων αὐτῷ κύκλῳ τὰ ἔργα τῶν χειρῶν αὐτοῦ εὐλόγησας καὶ τὰ κτήνη αὐτοῦ πολλὰ ἐποίησας ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς (lxx) Job 1:10 nonne tu vallasti eum, ac domum ejus, universamque substantiam per circuitum; operibus manuum ejus benedixisti, et possessio ejus crevit in terra?(vulgate) Job 1:10 Hast thou not made an hedge about him and about his house, & about all that he hath on euery side? thou hast blessed the worke of his hands, & his substance is increased in the land.(Geneva) Job 1:10 Hast du doch ihn, sein Haus und alles, was er hat, ringsumher verwahrt. You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land.(nkjv) ======= Job 1:11 ============ Job 1:11 But put forth Your hand now and touch all that he has; he will surely curse You to Your face."(nas) Job 1:11 ἀλλὰ ἀπόστειλον τὴν χεῖρά σου καὶ ἅψαι πάντων ὧν ἔχει εἰ μὴν εἰς πρόσωπόν σε εὐλογήσει (lxx) Job 1:11 sed extende paululum manum tuam et tange cuncta quæ possidet, nisi in faciem benedixerit tibi.(vulgate) Job 1:11 But stretch out now thine hand & touch all that he hath, to see if he will not blaspheme thee to thy face.(Geneva) Job 1:11 Aber recke deine Hand aus und taste an alles, was er hat: was gilt's, er wird dir ins Angesicht absagen?(dhs) Job 1:11 But now, stretch out Your hand and touch all that he has, and he will surely curse You to Your face!"(nkjv) ======= Job 1:12 ============ Job 1:12 Then the Lord said to Satan, "Behold, all that he has is in your power, only do not put forth your hand on him." So Satan departed from the presence of the Lord. (nas) Job 1:12 τότε εἶπεν ὁ κύριος τῷ διαβόλῳ ἰδοὺ πάντα ὅσα ἔστιν αὐτῷ δίδωμι ἐν τῇ χειρί σου ἀλλὰ αὐτοῦ μὴ ἅψῃ καὶ ἐξῆλθεν ὁ διάβολος παρὰ τοῦ κυρίου (lxx) Job 1:12 Dixit ergo Dominus ad Satan: Ecce universa quæ habet in manu tua sunt: tantum in eum ne extendas manum tuam. Egressusque est Satan a facie Domini.(vulgate) Job 1:12 Then the Lorde sayde vnto Satan, Lo, all that he hath is in thine hand: onely vpon himselfe shalt thou not stretch out thine hand. So Satan departed from the presence of the Lord.(Geneva) Job 1:12 Der HERR sprach zum Satan: Siehe, alles, was er hat, sei in deiner Hand; nur an ihn selbst lege deine Hand nicht. Da ging der Satan aus von dem HERRN.(dhs) Job 1:12 And the Lord said to Satan, "Behold, all that he has is in your power; only do not lay a hand on his person." So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord.(nkjv) ======= Job 1:13 ============ Job 1:13 Now on the day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother's house,(nas) Job 1:13 καὶ ἦν ὡς ἡ ἡμέρα αὕτη οἱ υἱοὶ Ιωβ καὶ αἱ θυγατέρες αὐτοῦ ἔπινον οἶνον ἐν τῇ οἰκίᾳ τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ αὐτῶν τοῦ πρεσβυτέρου (lxx) Job 1:13 Cum autem quadam die filii et filiæ ejus comederent et biberent vinum in domo fratris sui primogeniti,(vulgate) Job 1:13 And on a day, when his sonnes and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brothers house,(Geneva) Job 1:13 Des Tages aber, da seine Söhne und Töchter aßen und Wein tranken in ihres Bruders Hause, des Erstgeborenen,(dhs) Job 1:13 Now there was a day when his sons and daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother's house;(nkjv) ======= Job 1:14 ============ Job 1:14 a messenger came to Job and said, "The oxen were plowing and the donkeys feeding beside them,(nas) Job 1:14 καὶ ἰδοὺ ἄγγελος ἦλθεν πρὸς Ιωβ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ τὰ ζεύγη τῶν βοῶν ἠροτρία καὶ αἱ θήλειαι ὄνοι ἐβόσκοντο ἐχόμεναι αὐτῶν (lxx) Job 1:14 nuntius venit ad Job, qui diceret: Boves arabant, et asinæ pascebantur juxta eos:(vulgate) Job 1:14 There came a messenger vnto Iob, and said, The oxen were plowing, and the asses feeding in their places,(Geneva) Job 1:14 kam ein Bote zu Hiob und sprach: Die Rinder pflügten, und die Eselinnen gingen neben ihnen auf der Weide,(dhs) Job 1:14 and a messenger came to Job and said, "The oxen were plowing and the donkeys feeding beside them,(nkjv) ======= Job 1:15 ============ Job 1:15 and the Sabeans attacked and took them. They also slew the servants with the edge of the sword, and I alone have escaped to tell you."(nas) Job 1:15 καὶ ἐλθόντες οἱ αἰχμαλωτεύοντες ᾐχμαλώτευσαν αὐτὰς καὶ τοὺς παῖδας ἀπέκτειναν ἐν μαχαίραις σωθεὶς δὲ ἐγὼ μόνος ἦλθον τοῦ ἀπαγγεῖλαί σοι (lxx) Job 1:15 et irruerunt Sabæi, tuleruntque omnia, et pueros percusserunt gladio: et evasi ego solus, ut nuntiarem tibi.(vulgate) Job 1:15 And the Shabeans came violently, and tooke them: yea, they haue slayne the seruants with the edge of the sworde: but I onely am escaped alone to tell thee.(Geneva) Job 1:15 da fielen die aus Saba herein und nahmen sie und schlugen die Knechte mit der Schärfe des Schwerts; und ich bin allein entronnen, daß ich dir's ansagte.(dhs) Job 1:15 when the Sabeans raided them and took them away--indeed they have killed the servants with the edge of the sword; and I alone have escaped to tell you!"(nkjv) ======= Job 1:16 ============ Job 1:16 While he was still speaking, another also came and said, "The fire of God fell from heaven and burned up the sheep and the servants and consumed them, and I alone have escaped to tell you."(nas) Job 1:16 ἔτι τούτου λαλοῦντος ἦλθεν ἕτερος ἄγγελος καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς Ιωβ πῦρ ἔπεσεν ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ κατέκαυσεν τὰ πρόβατα καὶ τοὺς ποιμένας κατέφαγεν ὁμοίως καὶ σωθεὶς ἐγὼ μόνος ἦλθον τοῦ ἀπαγγεῖλαί σοι (lxx) Job 1:16 Cumque adhuc ille loqueretur, venit alter, et dixit: Ignis Dei cecidit e cælo, et tactas oves puerosque consumpsit: et effugi ego solus, ut nuntiarem tibi.(vulgate) Job 1:16 And whiles he was yet speaking, another came, and sayde, The fire of God is fallen from the heauen, & hath burnt vp the sheepe and the seruants, and deuoured them: but I onely am escaped alone to tell thee.(Geneva) Job 1:16 Da er noch redete, kam ein anderer und sprach: Das Feuer Gottes fiel vom Himmel und verbrannte Schafe und Knechte und verzehrte sie; und ich bin allein entronnen, daß ich dir's ansagte.(dhs) Job 1:16 While he was still speaking, another also came and said, "The fire of God fell from heaven and burned up the sheep and the servants, and consumed them; and I alone have escaped to tell you!"(nkjv) ======= Job 1:17 ============ Job 1:17 While he was still speaking, another also came and said, "The Chaldeans formed three bands and made a raid on the camels and took them and slew the servants with the edge of the sword, and I alone have escaped to tell you."(nas) Job 1:17 ἔτι τούτου λαλοῦντος ἦλθεν ἕτερος ἄγγελος καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς Ιωβ οἱ ἱππεῖς ἐποίησαν ἡμῖν κεφαλὰς τρεῖς καὶ ἐκύκλωσαν τὰς καμήλους καὶ ᾐχμαλώτευσαν αὐτὰς καὶ τοὺς παῖδας ἀπέκτειναν ἐν μαχαίραις ἐσώθην δὲ ἐγὼ μόνος καὶ ἦλθον τοῦ ἀπαγγεῖλαί σοι (lxx) Job 1:17 Sed et illo adhuc loquente, venit alius, et dixit: Chaldæi fecerunt tres turmas, et invaserunt camelos, et tulerunt eos, necnon et pueros percusserunt gladio: et ego fugi solus, ut nuntiarem tibi.(vulgate) Job 1:17 And whiles he was yet speaking, another came, and sayd, The Caldeans set on three bands, and fell vpon the camels, and haue taken them, and haue slayne the seruantes with the edge of the sworde: but I onely am escaped alone to tell thee.(Geneva) Job 1:17 Da der noch redete, kam einer und sprach: Die Chaldäer machte drei Rotten und überfielen die Kamele und nahmen sie und schlugen die Knechte mit der Schärfe des Schwerts; und ich bin allein entronnen, daß ich dir's ansagte.(dhs) Job 1:17 While he was still speaking, another also came and said, "The Chaldeans formed three bands, raided the camels and took them away, yes, and killed the servants with the edge of the sword; and I alone have escaped to tell you!"(nkjv) ======= Job 1:18 ============ Job 1:18 While he was still speaking, another also came and said, "Your sons and your daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother's house,(nas) Job 1:18 ἔτι τούτου λαλοῦντος ἄλλος ἄγγελος ἔρχεται λέγων τῷ Ιωβ τῶν υἱῶν σου καὶ τῶν θυγατέρων σου ἐσθιόντων καὶ πινόντων παρὰ τῷ ἀδελφῷ αὐτῶν τῷ πρεσβυτέρῳ (lxx) Job 1:18 Adhuc loquebatur ille, et ecce alius intravit, et dixit: Filiis tuis et filiabus vescentibus et bibentibus vinum in domo fratris sui primogeniti,(vulgate) Job 1:18 And whiles he was yet speaking, came an other, and sayd, Thy sonnes, and thy daughters were eating, and drinking wine in their eldest brothers house,(Geneva) Job 1:18 Da der noch redete, kam einer und sprach: Deine Söhne und Töchter aßen und tranken im Hause ihres Bruders, des Erstgeborenen,(dhs) Job 1:18 While he was still speaking, another also came and said, "Your sons and daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother's house,(nkjv) ======= Job 1:19 ============ Job 1:19 and behold, a great wind came from across the wilderness and struck the four corners of the house, and it fell on the young people and they died, and I alone have escaped to tell you."(nas) Job 1:19 ἐξαίφνης πνεῦμα μέγα ἐπῆλθεν ἐκ τῆς ἐρήμου καὶ ἥψατο τῶν τεσσάρων γωνιῶν τῆς οἰκίας καὶ ἔπεσεν ἡ οἰκία ἐπὶ τὰ παιδία σου καὶ ἐτελεύτησαν ἐσώθην δὲ ἐγὼ μόνος καὶ ἦλθον τοῦ ἀπαγγεῖλαί σοι (lxx) Job 1:19 repente ventus vehemens irruit a regione deserti, et concussit quatuor angulos domus: quæ corruens oppressit liberos tuos, et mortui sunt: et effugi ego solus, ut nuntiarem tibi.(vulgate) Job 1:19 And behold, there came a great wind from beyonde the wildernesse, and smote the foure corners of the house, which fel vpon the children, and they are dead, and I onely am escaped alone to tell thee.(Geneva) Job 1:19 Und siehe, da kam ein großer Wind von der Wüste her und stieß auf die vier Ecken des Hauses und warf's auf die jungen Leute, daß sie starben;
