Luke 6

Luk 6:1 Now it happened that He was passing through some grainfields on a Sabbath; and His disciples were picking the heads of grain, rubbing them in their hands, and eating the grain.
Luk 6:2 But some of the Pharisees said, "Why do you do what is not lawful on the Sabbath?"
Luk 6:3 And Jesus answering them said, "Have you not even read what David did when he was hungry, he and those who were with him,
Luk 6:4 how he entered the house of God, and took and ate the consecrated bread which is not lawful for any to eat except the priests alone, and gave it to his companions?"
Luk 6:5 And He was saying to them, "The Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath."
Luk 6:6 On another Sabbath He entered the synagogue and was teaching; and there was a man there whose right hand was withered.
Luk 6:7 The scribes and the Pharisees were watching Him closely to see if He healed on the Sabbath, so that they might find reason to accuse Him.
Luk 6:8 But He knew what they were thinking, and He said to the man with the withered hand, "Get up and come forward!" And he got up and came forward.
Luk 6:9 And Jesus said to them, "I ask you, is it lawful to do good or to do harm on the Sabbath, to save a life or to destroy it?"
Luk 6:10 After looking around at them all, He said to him, "Stretch out your hand!" And he did so; and his hand was restored.
Luk 6:11 But they themselves were filled with rage, and discussed together what they might do to Jesus.
Luk 6:12 It was at this time that He went off to the mountain to pray, and He spent the whole night in prayer to God.
Luk 6:13 And when day came, He called His disciples to Him and chose twelve of them, whom He also named as apostles:
Luk 6:14 Simon, whom He also named Peter, and Andrew his brother; and James and John; and Philip and Bartholomew;
Luk 6:15 and Matthew and Thomas; James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon who was called the Zealot;
Luk 6:16 Judas the son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor.
Luk 6:17 Jesus came down with them and stood on a level place; and there was a large crowd of His disciples, and a great throng of people from all Judea and Jerusalem and the coastal region of Tyre and Sidon,
Luk 6:18 who had come to hear Him and to be healed of their diseases; and those who were troubled with unclean spirits were being cured.
Luk 6:19 And all the people were trying to touch Him, for power was coming from Him and healing them all.
Luk 6:20 And turning His gaze toward His disciples, He began to say, "Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.
Luk 6:21 Blessed are you who hunger now, for you shall be satisfied. Blessed are you who weep now, for you shall laugh.
Luk 6:22 Blessed are you when men hate you, and ostracize you, and insult you, and scorn your name as evil, for the sake of the Son of Man.
Luk 6:23 Be glad in that day and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven. For in the same way their fathers used to treat the prophets.
Luk 6:24 But woe to you who are rich, for you are receiving your comfort in full.
Luk 6:25 Woe to you who are well-fed now, for you shall be hungry. Woe to you who laugh now, for you shall mourn and weep.
Luk 6:26 Woe to you when all men speak well of you, for their fathers used to treat the false prophets in the same way.
Luk 6:27 "But I say to you who hear, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you,
Luk 6:28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.
Luk 6:29 Whoever hits you on the cheek, offer him the other also; and whoever takes away your coat, do not withhold your shirt from him either.
Luk 6:30 Give to everyone who asks of you, and whoever takes away what is yours, do not demand it back.
Luk 6:31 Treat others the same way you want them to treat you.
Luk 6:32 If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them.
Luk 6:33 If you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same.
Luk 6:34 If you lend to those from whom you expect to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners in order to receive back the same amount.
Luk 6:35 But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful and evil men.
Luk 6:36 Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.
Luk 6:37 "Do not judge, and you will not be judged; and do not condemn, and you will not be condemned; pardon, and you will be pardoned.
Luk 6:38 Give, and it will be given to you. They will pour into your lap a good measure--pressed down, shaken together, and running over. For by your standard of measure it will be measured to you in return."
Luk 6:39 And He also spoke a parable to them. "A blind man cannot guide a blind man, can he? Will they not both fall into a pit?
Luk 6:40 A pupil is not above his teacher; but everyone, after he has been fully trained, will be like his teacher.
Luk 6:41 Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?
Luk 6:42 Or how can you say to your brother, 'Brother, let me take out the speck that is in your eye,' when you yourself do not see the log that is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother's eye.
Luk 6:43 For there is no good tree which produces bad fruit, nor, on the other hand, a bad tree which produces good fruit.
Luk 6:44 For each tree is known by its own fruit. For men do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they pick grapes from a briar bush.
Luk 6:45 The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth what is good; and the evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth what is evil; for his mouth speaks from that which fills his heart.
Luk 6:46 "Why do you call Me, 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do what I say?
Luk 6:47 Everyone who comes to Me and hears My words and acts on them, I will show you whom he is like:
Luk 6:48 he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid a foundation on the rock; and when a flood occurred, the torrent burst against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built.
Luk 6:49 But the one who has heard and has not acted accordingly, is like a man who built a house on the ground without any foundation; and the torrent burst against it and immediately it collapsed, and the ruin of that house was great."

Luk 6 23 Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets. Luk 6:23 Be glad in that day and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven. For in the same way their fathers used to treat the prophets.

Luk 6:26 Woe to you when all men speak well of you, for their fathers used to treat the false prophets in the same way.
Luk 6:27 But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, Luk 6:27 "But I say to you who hear, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, Luk 6:27 ἀλλὰ ὑμῖν λέγω τοῖς ἀκούουσιν, ἀγαπᾶτε τοὺς ἐχθροὺς ὑμῶν, καλῶς ποιεῖτε τοῖς μισοῦσιν ὑμᾶς,
Luk 6:28 Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you. Luk 6:28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.
Luk 6:29 And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloak forbid not to take thy coat also. Luk 6:29 Whoever hits you on the cheek, offer him the other also; and whoever takes away your coat, do not withhold your shirt from him either.
Luk 6:30 Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again. Luk 6:30 Give to everyone who asks of you, and whoever takes away what is yours, do not demand it back.
Luk 6:31 And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise. Luk 6:31 Treat others the same way you want them to treat you.
Luk 6:32 For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them. Luk 6:32 If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them.
Luk 6:33 And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same. Luk 6:33 If you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same.
Luk 6:34 And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again. Luk 6:34 If you lend to those from whom you expect to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners in order to receive back the same amount.
Luk 6:35 But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil. Luk 6:35 But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful and evil men.
Luk 6:36 Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful. Luk 6:36 Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.
Luk 6:37 Judge not, and ye shall not be judged condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven Luk 6:37 "Do not judge, and you will not be judged; and do not condemn, and you will not be condemned; pardon, and you will be pardoned.
Luk 6:38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. Luk 6:38 Give, and it will be given to you. They will pour into your lap a good measure--pressed down, shaken together, and running over. For by your standard of measure it will be measured to you in return."
Luk 6:39 And he spake a parable unto them, Can the blind lead the blind? shall they not both fall into the ditch? Luk 6:39 And He also spoke a parable to them. "A blind man cannot guide a blind man, can he? Will they not both fall into a pit? Luk 6:39 εἶπεν δὲ καὶ παραβολὴν αὐτοῖς· μήτι δύναται τυφλὸς τυφλὸν ὁδηγεῖν; οὐχὶ ἀμφότεροι εἰς βόθυνον ἐμπεσοῦνται;
Luk 6:40 The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master. Luk 6:40 A pupil is not above his teacher; but everyone, after he has been fully trained, will be like his teacher.
Luk 6:41 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but perceivest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Luk 6:41 Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Luk 6:41 τί δὲ βλέπεις τὸ κάρφος τὸ ἐν τῶ ὀφθαλμῶ τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ σου, τὴν δὲ δοκὸν τὴν ἐν τῶ ἰδίῳ ὀφθαλμῶ οὐ κατανοεῖς;
Luk 6:42 Either how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to pull out the mote that is in thy brother's eye.
Luk 6:43 For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Luk 6:43 For there is no good tree which produces bad fruit, nor, on the other hand, a bad tree which produces good fruit.
Luk 6:44 For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes. Luk 6:44 For each tree is known by its own fruit. For men do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they pick grapes from a briar bush.
Luk 6:45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh. Luk 6:45 The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth what is good; and the evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth what is evil; for his mouth speaks from that which fills his heart.
Luk 6:46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? Luk 6:46 "Why do you call Me, 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do what I say? Luk 6:46 τί δέ με καλεῖτε, κύριε κύριε, καὶ οὐ ποιεῖτε ἃ λέγω;
Luk 6:47 Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: Luk 6:47 Everyone who comes to Me and hears My words and acts on them, I will show you whom he is like: Luk 6:47 πᾶς ὁ ἐρχόμενος πρός με καὶ ἀκούων μου τῶν λόγων καὶ ποιῶν αὐτούς, ὑποδείξω ὑμῖν τίνι ἐστὶν ὅμοιος·
Luk 6 48 He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it for it was founded upon a rock. Luk 6:48 he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid a foundation on the rock; and when a flood occurred, the torrent burst against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built.
Luk 6:49 But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great. Luk 6:49 But the one who has heard and has not acted accordingly, is like a man who built a house on the ground without any foundation; and the torrent burst against it and immediately it collapsed, and the ruin of that house was great."
