Shall I bring thy sonne againe vnto the lande from whence thou camest?(Geneva) Genèse 24:5 Le serviteur lui répondit: Peut-être la femme ne voudra-t-elle pas me suivre dans ce pays-ci; devrai-je mener ton fils dans le pays d'où tu es sorti?(FR) 5 ׃24 וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אֵלָיו֙ הָעֶ֔בֶד אוּלַי֙ לֹא־תֹאבֶ֣ה הָֽאִשָּׁ֔ה לָלֶ֥כֶת אַחֲרַ֖י אֶל־הָאָ֣רֶץ הַזֹּ֑את הֶֽהָשֵׁ֤ב אָשִׁיב֙ אֶת־בִּנְךָ֔ אֶל־הָאָ֖רֶץ אֲשֶׁר־יָצָ֥אתָ מִשָּֽׁם׃ Genesis Gen 24:5 The servant said to him, "Suppose the woman is not willing to follow me to this land; should I take your son back to the land from where you came?"(nasb) ======= Genesis 24:6 ============ Gen 24:6 And Abraham said unto him, Beware thou that thou bring not my son thither again.(KJV) Genesis 24:6 To whom Abraham answered, Beware that thou bring not my sonne thither againe.(Geneva) Genèse 24:6 Abraham lui dit: Garde-toi d'y mener mon fils!(FR) 6 ׃24 וַיֹּ֥אמֶר אֵלָ֖יו אַבְרָהָ֑ם הִשָּׁ֣מֶר לְךָ֔ פֶּן־תָּשִׁ֥יב אֶת־בְּנִ֖י שָֽׁמָּה׃ Genesis Gen 24:6 Then Abraham said to him, "Beware that you do not take my son back there!(nasb) ======= Genesis 24:7 ============ Gen 24:7 The LORD God of heaven, which took me from my father's house, and from the land of my kindred, and which spake unto me, and that sware unto me, saying, Unto thy seed will I give this land; he shall send his angel before thee, and thou shalt take a wife unto my son from thence.(KJV) Genesis 24:7 The Lord God of heauen, who tooke me from my fathers house, and from the land where I was borne, and that spake vnto me, and that sware vnto me, saying, Vnto thy seede wil I giue this land, he shall send his Angel before thee, and thou shalt take a wife vnto my sonne fro thence.(Geneva) Genèse 24:7 L'Eternel, le Dieu du ciel, qui m'a fait sortir de la maison de mon père et de ma patrie, qui m'a parlé et qui m'a juré, en disant: Je donnerai ce pays à ta postérité, lui-même enverra son ange devant toi; et c'est de là que tu prendras une femme pour mon fils.(FR) 7 ׃24 יְהוָ֣ה ׀ אֱלֹהֵ֣י הַשָּׁמַ֗יִם אֲשֶׁ֨ר לְקָחַ֜נִי מִבֵּ֣ית אָבִי֮ וּמֵאֶ֣רֶץ מֽוֹלַדְתִּי֒ וַאֲשֶׁ֨ר דִּבֶּר־לִ֜י וַאֲשֶׁ֤ר נִֽשְׁבַּֽע־לִי֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר לְזַ֨רְעֲךָ֔ אֶתֵּ֖ן אֶת־הָאָ֣רֶץ הַזֹּ֑את ה֗וּא יִשְׁלַ֤ח מַלְאָכוֹ֙ לְפָנֶ֔יךָ וְלָקַחְתָּ֥ אִשָּׁ֛ה לִבְנִ֖י מִשָּֽׁם׃ Genesis Gen 24:7 The Lord, the God of heaven, who took me from my father's house and from the land of my birth, and who spoke to me and who swore to me, saying, 'To your descendants I will give this land,' He will send His angel before you, and you will take a wife for my son from there.(nasb) ======= Genesis 24:8 ============ Gen 24:8 And if the woman will not be willing to follow thee, then thou shalt be clear from this my oath: only bring not my son thither again.(KJV) Genesis 24:8 Neuertheles if the woman wil not followe thee, then shalt thou bee discharged of this mine othe: onely bring not my sonne thither againe.(Geneva) Genèse 24:8 Si la femme ne veut pas te suivre, tu seras dégagé de ce serment que je te fais faire. Il se leva, et alla en Mésopotamie, à la ville de Nachor.(FR) 10 ׃24 וַיִּקַּ֣ח הָ֠עֶבֶד עֲשָׂרָ֨ה גְמַלִּ֜ים מִגְּמַלֵּ֤י אֲדֹנָיו֙ וַיֵּ֔לֶךְ וְכָל־ט֥וּב אֲדֹנָ֖יו בְּיָד֑וֹ וַיָּ֗קָם וַיֵּ֛לֶךְ אֶל־אֲרַ֥ם נֽ͏ַהֲרַ֖יִם אֶל־עִ֥יר נָחֽוֹר׃ Genesis Gen 24:10 Then the servant took ten camels from the camels of his master, and set out with a variety of good things of his master's in his hand; and he arose and went to Mesopotamia, to the city of Nahor.(nasb) ======= Genesis 24:11 ============ Gen 24:11 And he made his camels to kneel down without the city by a well of water at the time of the evening, even the time that women go out to draw water.(KJV) Genesis 24:11 And he made his camels to lye downe without the citie by a well of water, at euentide about the time that the women come out to draw water.(Geneva) Genèse 24:11 Il fit reposer les chameaux sur leurs genoux hors de la ville, près d'un puits, au temps du soir, au temps où sortent celles qui vont puiser de l'eau.(FR) 11 ׃24 וַיַּבְרֵ֧ךְ הַגְּמַלִּ֛ים מִח֥וּץ לָעִ֖יר אֶל־בְּאֵ֣ר הַמָּ֑יִם לְעֵ֣ת עֶ֔רֶב לְעֵ֖ת צֵ֥את הַשֹּׁאֲבֹֽת׃ Genesis Gen 24:11 He made the camels kneel down outside the city by the well of water at evening time, the time when women go out to draw water.(nasb) ======= Genesis 24:12 ============ Gen 24:12 And he said O LORD God of my master Abraham, I pray thee, send me good speed this day, and shew kindness unto my master Abraham.(KJV) Genesis 24:12 And he said, O Lord God of my master Abraham, I beseech thee, send me good speede this day, & shew mercy vnto my master Abraha.(Geneva) Genèse 24:12 Et il dit: Eternel, Dieu de mon seigneur Abraham, fais-moi, je te prie, rencontrer aujourd'hui ce que je désire, et use de bonté envers mon seigneur Abraham!(FR) 12 ׃24 וַיֹּאמַ֓ר ׀ יְהוָ֗ה אֱלֹהֵי֙ אֲדֹנִ֣י אַבְרָהָ֔ם הַקְרֵה־נָ֥א לְפָנַ֖י הַיּ֑וֹם וַעֲשֵׂה־חֶ֕סֶד עִ֖ם אֲדֹנִ֥י אַבְרָהָֽם׃ Genesis Gen 24:12 He said, "O Lord, the God of my master Abraham, please grant me success today, and show lovingkindness to my master Abraham.(nasb) ======= Genesis 24:13 ============ Gen 24:13 Behold, I stand here by the well of water; and the daughters of the men of the city come out to draw water:(KJV) Genesis 24:13 Lo, I stand by the well of water, whiles the mens daughters of this citie come out to drawe water.(Geneva) Genèse 24:13 Voici, je me tiens près de la source d'eau, et les filles des gens de la ville vont sortir pour puiser de l'eau.(FR) 13 ׃24 הִנֵּ֛ה אָנֹכִ֥י נִצָּ֖ב עַל־עֵ֣ין הַמָּ֑יִם וּבְנוֹת֙ אַנְשֵׁ֣י הָעִ֔יר יֹצְאֹ֖ת לִשְׁאֹ֥ב מָֽיִם׃ Genesis Gen 24:13 Behold, I am standing by the spring, and the daughters of the men of the city are coming out to draw water;(nasb) ======= Genesis 24:14 ============ Gen 24:14 And let it come to pass, that the damsel to whom I shall say, Let down thy pitcher, I pray thee, that I may drink; and she shall say, Drink, and I will give thy camels drink also: let the same be she that thou hast appointed for thy servant Isaac; and thereby shall I know that thou hast shewed kindness unto my master.(KJV) Genesis 24:14 Graunt therefore that ye maide, to whom I say, Bowe downe thy pitcher, I pray thee, that I may drinke: if she say, Drinke, and I will giue thy camels drinke also: may be she that thou hast ordeined for thy seruant Izhak: and thereby shall I know that thou hast shewed mercy on my master.(Geneva) Genèse 24:14 Que la jeune fille à laquelle je dirai: Penche ta cruche, je te prie, pour que je boive, et qui répondra: Bois, et je donnerai aussi à boire à tes chameaux, soit celle que tu as destinée à ton serviteur Isaac! Et par là je connaîtrai que tu uses de bonté envers mon seigneur.(FR) 14 ׃24 וְהָיָ֣ה הַֽנַּעֲרָ֗ אֲשֶׁ֨ר אֹמַ֤ר אֵלֶ֙יהָ֙ הַטִּי־נָ֤א כַדֵּךְ֙ וְאֶשְׁתֶּ֔ה וְאָמְרָ֣ה שְׁתֵ֔ה וְגַם־גְּמַלֶּ֖יךָ אַשְׁקֶ֑ה אֹתָ֤הּ הֹכַ֙חְתָּ֙ לְעַבְדְּךָ֣ לְיִצְחָ֔ק וּבָ֣הּ אֵדַ֔ע כִּי־עָשִׂ֥יתָ חֶ֖סֶד עִם־אֲדֹנִֽי׃ Genesis Gen 24:14 now may it be that the girl to whom I say, 'Please let down your jar so that I may drink,' and who answers, 'Drink, and I will water your camels also'--may she be the one whom You have appointed for Your servant Isaac; and by this I will know that You have shown lovingkindness to my master." (nasb) ======= Genesis 24:15 ============ Gen 24:15 And it came to pass, before he had done speaking, that, behold, Rebekah came out, who was born to Bethuel, son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham's brother, with her pitcher upon her shoulder.(KJV) Genesis 24:15 And nowe yer he had left speaking, beholde, Rebekah came out, the daughter of Bethuel, sonne of Milcah the wife of Nahor Abrahams brother, and her pitcher vpon her shoulder.(Geneva) Genèse 24:15 Il n'avait pas encore fini de parler que sortit, sa cruche sur l'épaule, Rebecca, née de Bethuel, fils de Milca, femme de Nachor, frère d'Abraham.(FR) 15 ׃24 וַֽיְהִי־ה֗וּא טֶרֶם֮ כִּלָּ֣ה לְדַבֵּר֒ וְהִנֵּ֧ה רִבְקָ֣ה יֹצֵ֗את אֲשֶׁ֤ר יֻלְּדָה֙ לִבְתוּאֵ֣ל בֶּן־מִלְכָּ֔ה אֵ֥שֶׁת נָח֖וֹר אֲחִ֣י אַבְרָהָ֑ם וְכַדָּ֖הּ עַל־שִׁכְמָֽהּ׃ Genesis Gen 24:15 Before he had finished speaking, behold, Rebekah who was born to Bethuel the son of Milcah, the wife of Abraham's brother Nahor, came out with her jar on her shoulder.(nasb) ======= Genesis 24:16 ============ Gen 24:16 And the damsel was very fair to look upon, a virgin, neither had any man known her: and she went down to the well, and filled her pitcher, and came up.(KJV) Genesis 24:16 (And the maide was very faire to looke vpon, a virgine and vnknowen of man) and she went downe to the well, and filled her pitcher, and came vp.(Geneva) Genèse 24:16 C'était une jeune fille très belle de figure; elle était vierge, et aucun homme ne l'avait connue. Elle descendit à la source, remplit sa cruche, et remonta.(FR) 16 ׃24 וְהַֽנַּעֲרָ֗ טֹבַ֤ת מַרְאֶה֙ מְאֹ֔ד בְּתוּלָ֕ה וְאִ֖ישׁ לֹ֣א יְדָעָ֑הּ וַתֵּ֣רֶד הָעַ֔יְנָה וַתְּמַלֵּ֥א כַדָּ֖הּ וַתָּֽעַל׃ Genesis Gen 24:16 The girl was very beautiful, a virgin, and no man had had relations with her; and she went down to the spring and filled her jar and came up.(nasb) ======= Genesis 24:17 ============ Gen 24:17 And the servant ran to meet her, and said, Let me, I pray thee, drink a little water of thy pitcher.(KJV) Genesis 24:17 Then the seruant ranne to meete her, and said, Let me drinke, I pray thee, a litle water of thy pitcher.(Geneva) Genèse 24:17 Le serviteur courut au-devant d'elle, et dit: Laisse-moi boire, je te prie, un peu d'eau de ta cruche.(FR) 17 ׃24 וַיָּ֥רָץ הָעֶ֖בֶד לִקְרָאתָ֑הּ וַיֹּ֕אמֶר הַגְמִיאִ֥ינִי נָ֛א מְעַט־מַ֖יִם מִכַּדֵּֽךְ׃ Genesis Gen 24:17 Then the servant ran to meet her, and said, "Please let me drink a little water from your jar."(nasb) ======= Genesis 24:18 ============ Gen 24:18 And she said, Drink, my lord: and she hasted, and let down her pitcher upon her hand, and gave him drink.(KJV) Genesis 24:18 And she said, Drinke sir: and she hasted, and let downe her pitcher vpon her hand and gaue him drinke.(Geneva) Genèse 24:18 Elle répondit: Bois, mon seigneur. Et elle s'empressa d'abaisser sa cruche sur sa main, et de lui donner à boire.(FR) 18 ׃24 וַתֹּ֖אמֶר שְׁתֵ֣ה אֲדֹנִ֑י וַתְּמַהֵ֗ר וַתֹּ֧רֶד כַּדָּ֛הּ עַל־יָדָ֖הּ וַתַּשְׁקֵֽהוּ׃ Genesis Gen 24:18 She said, "Drink, my lord"; and she quickly lowered her jar to her hand, and gave him a drink.(nasb) ======= Genesis 24:19 ============ Gen 24:19 And when she had done giving him drink, she said, I will draw water for thy camels also, until they have done drinking.(KJV) Genesis 24:19 And when she had giuen him drinke, she said, I will drawe water for thy camels also vntill they haue drunken inough.(Geneva) Genèse 24:19 Quand elle eut achevé de lui donner à boire, elle dit: Je puiserai aussi pour tes chameaux, jusqu'à ce qu'ils aient assez bu.(FR) 19 ׃24 וַתְּכַ֖ל לְהַשְׁקֹת֑וֹ וַתֹּ֗אמֶר גַּ֤ם לִגְמַלֶּ֙יךָ֙ אֶשְׁאָ֔ב עַ֥ד אִם־כִּלּ֖וּ לִשְׁתֹּֽת׃ Genesis Gen 24:19 Now when she had finished giving him a drink, she said, "I will draw also for your camels until they have finished drinking."(nasb) ======= Genesis 24:20 ============ Gen 24:20 And she hasted, and emptied her pitcher into the trough, and ran again unto the well to draw water, and drew for all his camels.(KJV) Genesis 24:20 And she powred out her pitcher into the trough speedily; and ranne againe vnto the well to drawe water, and she drewe for all his camels.(Geneva) Genèse 24:20 Et elle s'empressa de vider sa cruche dans l'abreuvoir, et courut encore au puits pour puiser; et elle puisa pour tous les chameaux.(FR) 20 ׃24 וַתְּמַהֵ֗ר וַתְּעַ֤ר כַּדָּהּ֙ אֶל־הַשֹּׁ֔קֶת וַתָּ֥רָץ ע֛וֹד אֶֽל־הַבְּאֵ֖ר לִשְׁאֹ֑ב וַתִּשְׁאַ֖ב לְכָל־גְּמַלָּֽיו׃ Genesis Gen 24:20 So she quickly emptied her jar into the trough, and ran back to the well to draw, and she drew for all his camels.(nasb) ======= Genesis 24:21 ============ Gen 24:21 And the man wondering at her held his peace, to wit whether the LORD had made his journey prosperous or not.(KJV) Genesis 24:21 So the man wondred at her, and helde his peace, to knowe whether the Lord had made his iourney prosperous or not.(Geneva) Genèse 24:21 L'homme la regardait avec étonnement et sans rien dire, pour voir si l'Eternel faisait réussir son voyage, ou non.(FR) 21 ׃24 וְהָאִ֥ישׁ מִשְׁתָּאֵ֖ה לָ֑הּ מַחֲרִ֕ישׁ לָדַ֗עַת הֽ͏ַהִצְלִ֧יחַ יְהוָ֛ה דַּרְכּ֖וֹ אִם־לֹֽא׃ Genesis Gen 24:21 Meanwhile, the man was gazing at her in silence, to know whether the Lord had made his journey successful or not.(nasb) ======= Genesis 24:22 ============ Gen 24:22 And it came to pass, as the camels had done drinking, that the man took a golden earring of half a shekel weight, and two bracelets for her hands of ten shekels weight of gold;(KJV) Genesis 24:22 And when the camels had left drinking, the man tooke a golden abillement of halfe a shekell weight, and two bracelets for her hands, of ten shekels weight of golde:(Geneva) Genèse 24:22 Quand les chameaux eurent fini de boire, l'homme prit un anneau d'or, du poids d'un demi-sicle, et deux bracelets, du poids de dix sicles d'or.(FR) 22 ׃24 וַיְהִ֗י כַּאֲשֶׁ֨ר כִּלּ֤וּ הַגְּמַלִּים֙ לִשְׁתּ֔וֹת וַיִּקַּ֤ח הָאִישׁ֙ נֶ֣זֶם זָהָ֔ב בֶּ֖קַע מִשְׁקָל֑וֹ וּשְׁנֵ֤י צְמִידִים֙ עַל־יָדֶ֔יהָ עֲשָׂרָ֥ה זָהָ֖ב מִשְׁקָלָֽם׃ Genesis Gen 24:22 When the camels had finished drinking, the man took a gold ring weighing a half-shekel and two bracelets for her wrists weighing ten shekels in gold,(nasb) ======= Genesis 24:23 ============ Gen 24:23 And said, Whose daughter art thou? tell me, I pray thee: is there room in thy father's house for us to lodge in?(KJV) Genesis 24:23 And he said, Whose daughter art thou?
